New composers

I definitely second that, even though I, personally, am not either one of those… yet. I just so appreciate all the orchestrators and studio musicians’ work. So here’s to you, orchestrators and studio musicians! lifts glass

Alan Menken would do a great job at scoring a Pixar film! I love what he did with Aladdin especially… I dont know if i’ll say who I’m thinking of… Cookies for you, if you know who it is!

I get what you’re saying Aggie, about bringing in composers who are not as well known as some of the big guys, but to be honest (and I hope I don’t offend you in any way) , your taste in composers kind of surprised me. Now, everyone has they’re certain tastes, and you have a strong opinion about these things because this is what you want to do for a living. You’re passionate about this and I admire that. But , you have to admit, bringing in known composers every now and then wouldn’t be so bad. I mean, I was the one who brought up Danny Elfman to begin with, and if Tim does end up directing a Pixar feature (which I seriously hope he will) , you can bet that Danny will be doing the music for it. But what you said about bringing in Dario Marianelli , David Newman (which is a good idea) , Patrick Doyle, and Rachel Portman makes more than enough sense. Heck, I’ve never even heard of Dario or Rachel, so I’m all for that. I barely even knew who Michael Giachinno was after I saw The Incredibles . So, yeah, I agree with you Aggie , and I wish you the best of luck in reaching your ambition.

Forgive me for the double post. I’ve just realized there hasn’t been any activity in this thread for quite some time.

I’ve been thinking about David Arnold as a possible future composer.

Here’s his list of movies:

Two words from me…

HANS ZIMMER

His music always blows my mind. I’d love to see him do the score for a Pixar film with a grand scale, like I’ve percieved Up to be.

Christopher Young would be interesting. His latest score (Spider-Man 3) was fantastic, not to mention his score for Ghost Rider as well, and various other films.
