This short is my favorite, primarily because I play
percussion (marimba) and the viola. The percussion part means I’m in marching band and… even if I don’t march
or am an official bando, I still feel like one at heart.
Who do you guys think should have won?
I
think if Bass pulled out more of those jazzy numbers he could have won. heheh.

I loved this
short! I loved it enough to figure out Bass’s part until Treble shows up. (I’m a trombonist, so I just
couldn’t resist ) Anyone who wants the notes for that, just PM me or sumthing.

Yes,
this was truly amazing, nice to see Pixar still has some exciting ideas for shorts.
But anyway, it should
have won the best short award, whatever award it was, it lost .
The expressions on the girl and the musicians
faces…How does Pixar do it? It’s just so…good!
It was beautifully animated.
I guess they take a video of people’s expressions, then try to animate it.
When it comes to the
actors, I think they do, but usually animators use mirrors and characterize their own expressions to get the
exact movement. Most of the expressions and stuff is inspired by the actor or actress playing the voice, since
recording comes before animating, but in this case there are no voices so I’m guessing the animators simply
characterized the movements through themselves.

Yeah, and that’s why I like Pixar and hate all those
other studios, namely dreamworks, who try and cash in on the CG movie success, with extrememlly poor movies. I
mean, Ant Bully, come on. LOL.
There IS an Ant Bully disussion going on in “Other Animation” I beleive . . .
As for OMB, because of the lack of voice actors, I’m pretty confident that the animators themselves were
acting with expression and stuff.
(Anyone remember hearing how they attach wooden planks to their feet so
they can get the right feel to animate the little Green soldiers in Toy Story??)

Yes, the lengths Pixar goes to is extreme. Some ignorant people say it’s too far, what I have to say to
them, why has Pixar done so well then?
Extreme?? I’d say ingenius!! Instead of racking your
mind on how it to animate little green men, why not just be one!! After all, not everyone can say that can attach
wooden planks to their feet for a living!
You know, I
tried that once. It was the most uncomfortable way of moving. But it is adoreabole how the army men move.
There’s a bit on the MI extras disk where they talk about acting out what is happening in the film, and one of
the guys has these weird extensions on his arms so he looks a bit like a gorilla, and he’s walking around like
that with another guy recording him on video.

LOL, wonder whats going through your head as you do something like that.
I love One Man Band! I like the violin guy. The music was
really cool too. And when the brass guy started playing jazz, too funny!

Yeah, I thought they were going to start to go over the
top there for added comedy, like rock and stuff, but they never.
This was such a great short and definetely one of Pixar’s best! I love music and I loved One
Man Band! And I liked the character’s design too. I can imagine more Pixar movies in that style.

It was soo funny and cool when it
panned out from the guy, and it was just him and a fountain.
I enjoyed the ending. Wow the two are desparate. They
could break bones or even their intruments doing that.

Yeah, and the 2:35:1 aspect is
always going to make a movie glorious.
Off-topic, I seen as Samsung TV the other day which seemigly had a
2:35:1 cpable screen, much wider than normal TV’s, but it was running the incredibles with huge black bars.
