May - The Incredibles (submissions for new participants closed)
June - Monsters, Inc. (now taking submissions for those who haven’t ever done a practice)
July - WALL-E (if we have at least one person who hasn’t done WALL-E before)
Does anyone have any suggestions for what feature they’d want to commentate on in August and September? I’d like to do Toy Story 2, but I don’t mind if I have to wait until the end of the year.
I ‘third’ lizardgirl’s suggestion.
Sorry to Geoff CB or anyone who wants to do the Wall-E commentary, but it has already been done twice this year, and I think priority should be given to films that have not been done before, so that at least we go through a whole ‘cycle’ of all the films by year’s end.
In my humblest opinion, here’s how I would do the film schedules:
June - Monsters Inc
July - Cars/Finding Nemo (since FN seems to rate pretty high on people’s film rankings and several have already expressed interest, I can safely say we can bump this up to July)
August - Cars/Finding Nemo (they’re interchangeable depending on how many want to do one over the other, and yes, I’m biased towards Cars, heheh)
September - Toy Story 2
October - A Bug’s Life (wonder why there’s few interest for this, or is it just me?)
November - Wall-E
December - Up?(Hopefully DVD release will be out by then)
Enough about me, I pose this question to y’all, how would you arrange the schedule?
Thanks for your input, thedriveintheatre. I already promised Lightning Eclipse that WALL-E would be done again in July, though, because of the film’s popularity. It also seems as if others want to do it recently, too. Technically, it’s only been done once, not twice. It’s been done once, with two groups, if that makes sense.
Rachel - Fairy 'nuff. Arrange the schedule as you deem fit, since you’re the organiser. Maybe you can post a suggested schedule and ask people to vote on it or something. As long as there is a general consensus as to which film to do first, I don’t mind waiting to do those I want.
LightningandDoc - Don’t be so sure, they’re still in the middle of deciding which films to go first, but like you, I’m also keeping my hopes up they’ll do it ASAP.
Sure thing. I’ll let people know what films it’s most likely to be, and you can give your feedback from there. It seems to be between Cars and Finding Nemo for now. I’d probably prefer Cars so I get to have break from recording for a couple of months (WALL-E and Cars), but overall, it doesn’t bother me too much. I suppose it’s not even really a break if I still have to organise the commentaries, though. Naw, it’s alright.
I’ll leave this thread open for a few weeks to a month for others to give their input. We’ve got commentaries set till the end of July anyway, so there’s no rush. Thanks for your enthusiasm and input, everyone. =)
I hope one of you guys can help me, I would really like to join these fan commentaries really soon. But, my parents aren’t exactly ready to let me go online with “strangers” (although I think of you guys as close friends) and participate. Is there any place that says that this is totally safe? If I do get “proof” my mom said she would let me join in on the fun, Thanks! I hope I’ll be able to join real soon!
woody - Hm. Well, I don’t know if there’s any website that says that this is safe or not, because it all depends on who you commentate with. I think it is fairly safe at Pixar Planet, at least, because I’m very concerned about the safety of our younger members here. I’m the organiser of the commentaries, as well as moderator at Pixar Planet and have been a member here for two years. If you want to know that I am who I say I am, you can listen to episodes of Radio Pixar, too.
Only members of Pixar Planet our allowed to participate in the commentaries. To make it even more safe, you could sign up for a Skype account (and download Skype), private message me your username, and you’ll only ever have me on your contact list. If anyone else from the commentaries requests to add you to their contact list, you can deny their request as well as prevent them from contacting you ever again, just to be completely safe. She could also log into your Skype account and read your history. The commentaries are rated ‘PG’ and I attend every practice and recording, so if anyone were to harass or act inappropritely towards anyone, especially our younger members, I’d handle it and cancel the call, and ban them from any future commentaries. Not that I’ve ever had to do that. Everyone has been pretty good so far.
If you have any further questions, or your mum would like to private message me herself, she can do that. =)
Here’s the commentary schedule for the rest of the year…
July - WALL-E
August - Cars
September - Finding Nemo/WALL-E
October - Toy Story 2
November - A Bug’s Life
December - ???
January - Up
Yeah, that’s all of the films done this year then, I think… In December we can either take a break, because I know Christmas would be coming up, or we can repeat a film again, if popularity demands it. Up will be done in January 2010 at the earliest, if you guys want to commentate on it straight away, because by that time it would have been on DVD in the US and finally released in Japan in theatres.
I’ve said this on the Rules and Info thread, but I’ll say it again. Yes! air guitars Perfect timing too, it’d be the start of term and I won’t be stuffed with assignments yet.
I was gunna suggest Up be done December, but now that you mention it, January might be a more suitable time. Not to mention it would be a great way to kick off the year!
Hm… maybe that December slot can be taken up to do an Incredibles repeat, seeing as we have a lot of Incredi-fans here.
Sure, The Incredibles sounds good for December. I know Phileas didn’t get to do it last month, too. Just remind me once it gets towards December if anyone wants to commentate on it then and I’ll organise for a practice in November.
I skipped some pages. Did you figure it out? If not, for people willing to give phone numbers, a two person commentary on a movie could be recorded on speakerphone, or a cell phone with voice recording would sound clearer. I have no idea on multi person commentaries. Radio pixar could probably do it.
It would be good to be able to play the movie while youre listening.
luxoIII - Yup, we did figure it out. =) You can listen to our commentaries here. If you’d like to join in and become a commentator, I believe our next practice session will be after the upcoming Cars commentary. You should probably read the rules too.
I’m downloading toy story right now. I’ll think about doin some. I’m a big pixar fan, but I may have to widen my research before I do one. My voice isn’t great either, can’t fix that though. Lol. Anyway, it’s cool what you’re doin’
