Pixar Planet Awards 2010 - Suggestions/General Discussion

This is the nomination round for now. What we urge the members to do is to nominate their three for each category. We then select the nominees with the most nominations to go to the final round. Form there, everyone gets only one vote per category.

When voting is held, will there be 3 nominees per category or 5? -or another number?

When it comes time to vote, typically there should be three members/fanworks to choose from in each category. Then you just pick one of those three to actually vote for.

We’ll see. I guess it all depends on the nomination voting.

Oh, well, thanks TSS. Sorry. I sent my nominations to you, so sorry about the one that only has one nomination. Will you need me to change that?

I believe it’s too late for that now. But it’s okay. We got your votes, and everything is working out. We’ve recieved several nomination votes that only have one vote per category. I believed some members thought it was the final round. But you don’t need to send your vote again.

Thanks, TSS  . Sorry again. Next time I’ll do more research in advance  .

That’s okay Vi. You weren’t the only one. Don’t worry.

Thanks, TSS  . That makes me feel better. I hope you get nominated for lots of stuff!

We’ll see what happens. I wish the same for you and everyone else.

I was going to send my nominations in yesterday, but the period ended before I could. I didn’t realize it ended so early in the morning in my time zone. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

That’s okay. NO need to feel bad. THere is still the final voting round. You can participate in that. THis is where the winner is decided.

When will the nominations and voting begin? I only ask because I’ve already put up my works in the For Your consideration thread, so I was wondering if it would start immediately or in a little while.

We’re still counting nominations, and figuring out who makes it though the final round. I can promise that it will be up in a few days.

The first post of this thread says that voting begins tomorrow (the 20th).

Thanks for that TSS

The first post states that the dates are subject to change and we’ll try out best to adhere to them. Ideally, we are aiming for a non-negotiable date of the Sunday after next (30th January) to announce the winners. Seeing that we are planning to set aside one week for the Finalist-Voting, and a buffer time of one-two days for TSS and I to count the Finalist-Votes (which should take considerably less time than compiling the myriad nomination entries and consolidating the list), you can expect the Finalist Thread to be started by the weekend.

Do take into account that due to different time-zones, ‘Friday’ could be anytime in the world!

If you need an idea of how the Pixar Planet Awards are run, you can look at past years in the Archives thread (not sure if this is open to regular members, TSS?). And we ask for your patience in the meantime. Rest assured that you will have at least seven days to cast your votes, so as long as you log-in anytime within the next week and send your PMs in, you should be fine!

This weekend, huh? Sounds awesome; can’t wait for the final list to get up so I (and many others, I’m sure!) can start voting! Oh, and yes, the archives are available to regular members.

Glad you’re excited, Basil.

But a word of advice (and to all other eager voters too); you have seven days from the posting of the thread to vote. There is no point throwing in your PM earlier, as you’ll still have to wait the seven days (and then a few more while TSS and I count the votes) before you find out who the winners are.

So take your time to fully consider your finalists, go through their threads, view their artwork, watch their videos, read their fanfictions, and weigh all your options before you make your final decision. Also, take the time to read the instructions, something which quite a few members didn’t do for their Nomination ballots.

We will post the deadline time as well, so just because it’s past the day of the deadline in your country, doesn’t mean that submissions are closed yet.

Long story short, it’s like going to the voting booths on Election Day: Consider your candidates before choosing your votes!

What actually scares me is that it is apparently necessary to say this here… XD
