Possible awards for WALL-E?

Best Animated Pic! Yeah, baby! Look at you go, Stanton!

Woo! Yay WALL•E!

Excellent job for WALL-E. A bit scared after the Annie Awards, but the Academy did the right thing (although Kung Fu Panda was indeed an excellent movie as well).

Jack Black’s quote? Priceless!

“Each year I do a Dreamworks film and each year I take all that money and bet it all on Pixar!”

Best Animated Film, yeah!!! I loved Jack Black’s jab at Jeffrey Katzenberg, ha ha! WALL•E was focused on for the Animation 2008 segment, so that was cool. Congratulations Pixar!

It didn’t win Best Animated Short Film, but I liked the winner for BASF, though: “domo arigoto, Mr. Roboto.” =)

Yeah, Wall-E throwing away the Oscar (take that, Academy!), Black burning Mr Katzenberg (who can only grin sheepishly), Stanton’s “Hello Dolly high school play” speech (cut to a beaming Lasseter) and “Mr Roboto” (Wow, a Japanese directing a French-titled short?) were about the only good things tonight so far (The opening act was funny but cringe-worthy at the same time!).

They’re going pretty fast with the announcements, I wonder what they will fill the rest of the time with. Maybe they’re getting the “lesser” awards done and over with.

They showcased quite a few segments from WALL•E in the “Romance 2008” segment, so that was sweet. <3

Yeah, I was grinning when they ended it with Wall-E and Eve’s slow kiss. Pretty awesome.
Now I’m seeing many Jackman clones.

It was good to see and hear. Even tho Home Alone.

Okay, the Knight won Best Sound Editing. What the heck? I loved TDK, but Burtt was waaay more creative.
EDIT It got snubbed for Best Sound Mixing too! What is GOING ON! This is MADNESS!

…How did Wall-E not win with the sound stuff? How did The Dark Knight and Slumdog Millionaire win that??

:frowning:

Ben Burtt lost in both sound categories. How could that happen? D=

Oh well. I did see him in the audience, though (I think).

Have they played the Up trailer yet, does anyone know?

I haven’t seen it yet.

Well, congratulations on all the nominations WALL•E.
And a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Andrew Stanton for Best Animated Feature Film of the Year!!
There’s still the Best Song and Score to go, let’s cross our fingers.
Anyhow, about the Up trailer. I don’t know, maybe it was just a rumor. They did play a trailer for The Proposal which is from Touchstone distributed by Disney of course, and you can only have one trailer per studios. So maybe there is no Up trailer. That’s not good. :frowning:
I’ve got live coverage and opinion over at the blog, feel free to comment: pixarplanet.com/blog/the-81st-an … nd-chatter
P.S. Did you guys notice Define Dancing just played??

Hey…they’re playing ‘Define Dancing’ as background music during this montage.

And yeah, there’s still best original song AND best original score…so 2 more chances for Wall-E!

Our American friends, please tell us of the new Up trailer premiere!
Oh, and they played Define Dancing during the Jerry Lewis montage. Sweetness!

I noticed that too

I have doubts about their chances in Best Original Song (and I was extremely disappointed to see that Peter Gabriel would not be preforming, but this is really ABC’s fault), even though they really deserve it, but I think they do have a shot in best score. I think it beats out the other categories

Yeah, they played “Define Dancing”! Pixar’s been represented pretty well this year at the Oscars.

Go Giacchino go! I was ecstatic to hear that he was creating the music for the Oscars.

And they play Define Dancing! Excellent!

Giacchino! Define Dancing!
