Possible awards for WALL-E?

I think just getting a nomination in itself would be something pretty special. It’s difficult to judge whether it will happen or not, especially as Ratatouille was in the same sort of situation that WALL-E is in now, and Ratatouille didn’t make it. I guess all we can do is wait and see, and hope that Pixar will be credited for all of their hard work.

The sad thing is, they’re probably right. But I’m not gonna lose faith. Ever since I saw the final trailer for this movie, I felt something incredibly special here. More special than any other film I’ve seen in my life. Maybe I’m crazy, but I think a miracle could happen here.

SciFi and Cartoons. The two things in theater the Oscars hate the most and I love the most. Sometimes I wonder why I even watch those anymore after the whole Cars beat by Happy Feet thing. sigh

But if it doesn’t win, wait till the Annie awards when WALL-E kills everything else. XD

List of stuff WALL-E could be nominated for at the Annies (and my thoughts):

Best Animated Feature
(Uh, yeah, ours. When’s the last time PIXAR didn’t win this?)
Best Animated Video Game (This one is really up in th air. Quality of movie =/= quality of game, though the game is coming out pretty good, and Ratatouille won last year, also made by THQ)
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS:
Animated Effects (Surf’s Up got this last year, which is understandable. Ratatouille was a charming movie with great animation, but Surf’s Up had a lot more action, therefore more uber amazing special big boom animated effects. Flushed Away won before that. These guys seem to consider water effects good, seeing how Nemo won too. The Incredibles also got this, which may mean they like action ad explosions too. WALL-E’s got awesome explosions. I say we could snag this one.)
Animated production artist (Is this like, the concept art and stuff? Cause, WALL-E has incredibly artwork for it.)
Character Animation in a Feature Production (Uh, yeah, if people don’t notice the awesome character animation in WALL-E, something’s wrong over at he Annies.)
Character Design in an Animated Feature Production (I’d say we have a great shot for this. I mean, these guys have a whole aray of emotions through only ther EYES man, and they look awesome and adorable to boot.)
Directing in an Animated Feature Production (Go Mr. Stanton, Go! I’ve seen footage of this guy direct. He’s good. He made a great film. We’ve got a great chance here)
Music in an Animated Feature Production (YES.)
Production Design in an Animated Feature Production (Gah, this productio art and design stuff confuses me. Anybody know and wanna explain? Why do I not know this? I wanna write animated when I grow up! O.o)
Storyboarding in an Animated Feature Production (WALL-E had fantastic storyboarding. The camera motions could be so simple but beautiful. or so dynamic… it has a great shot at this.)
Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production (This is, honestly, the only place m hopes are more of mixed bag than high. On one hand, we don’t have much real voice acting. On the other, what we do have is pretty good stuff. We’ll just have to see.)
Writing in an Animated Feature Production (YES. AGAIN.)

Ratatouille won 9 of these last year. I think WALL-E could beat it. Though, if Pirate Who Don’t Do Anything got some nominations, I wouldn’t mind. XD

I was extremely happy last year when Ratatouille got 5 nominations at the Oscars, which is more than Juno, which got nominated for best picture. Do I think Wall-e deserves to get nominated for best picture? Yes. Do I think it will happen? No. Animation discrimination

Uhh… it was like last year when Cars lost to Happy Feet?!

That’s the Oscars. I’m talking the Annies. Cars won those.

Didn’t the Incredibles win like 16 Annies.

I think 16 is a little too high of a number.

If I can recall, TI won 10 or 11.

Oh I think it got nominated for 16, nevermind.

off-topic: That is right. Out of the 16 times it got nominated, it won 10

Er, Best Original Score? I think this is Tom Newman’s greatest film score, as a film score. It just feels inseparable from the film, which is the greatest compliment to any film composer.

Honestly I think it deserves to be placed for Best Picture but that’s probably not going to happen.

I don’t see how any other animated features even compare with it…it’s definitely taking best animated feature.

My guess is that it will win Best Animated feature, get nominated for Best Original score and sound editing, but miss out on the Best picture by a couple spots. :frowning:

Here’s a Time article on WALL-E winning best picture. http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1820824,00.html?imw=Y

Most/desfintely “Best Animated Feature”, followed by “Best Movie of Year” if the world were to be more open to the idea of an animated movie being top notch. (But at the rate that’s going, eh…I’d say that’s not likely. Give it a few more years.)Hehe, I’d just be happy if Wall-E even got a nomination for that slot. It deserves it.

Most definitely, it does deserve it but I’m not sure how “Best Picture” is going to go up against Iron Man or The Dark Knight

I know it will win Best Animated Feature, but I think the Best Animated Feature category snatches WALL-E’s chances of winning Best Picture.

I honestly think WALL-E will win Best Picture!!!

I wish Wall-E won for Best Picture, it would be such a wonderful moment. Maybe there should be an adorable “for your consideration” campaign for Wall-E…just an idea hehe.

I doubt it will happen, but I do have a good feeling it will wipe clean some big category. But it still would be amazing to see

the academy has actually talked about nominating it already.
don’t know if they will or won’t, though. Fall hasn’t come yet, so, we’ll see…

Of course, everyone thinks Wall•E has it in the bag for Best Animated Feature… And although I kind of doubt the Best Picture nomination, it would be AMAZING if it actually won. :open_mouth:

The problem is, there would always be those people that would argue against the fact that this movie potentially deserves such a nomination/win.

All in all, GOOD LUCK Wall•E!
