Rango

Was that oath a reference to this scene from Madgascar?

Anyway, yeah, these are the same dumb parents who let their five year-olds play Call of Duty, and then complain when their kids grow up to become bullies, or even worse, teenage psychos who bring guns to school. And then they blame it on the video game industry (of which COD and other violent FPS only form a section of the video game universe, when there’s more family-friendly fare like Mario and DK).

Rango should have a massive disclaimer sign on the entrance saying: “Warning: Not suitable for kids under the age of 12, ophidiophobics and little wimpy bunny rabbits.” 8D

I wouldn’t say that kids bring guns to school because of video games at all myself.

It seems to me (from an outsiders perspective) a lot of kids in America (and possibly other areas) who bring guns to school do either for ‘protection’ (or status) which results in ‘accidents’ OR in the case where intent is to kill a lot of people it is because they were picked on or bullied at school and want to strike out at not just bullies but people who didn’t help them or take them seriously. It seems like that happens a lot. And can end with the shooter taking their own life.

Or sometimes they have certain ‘issues’ like people who just openly randomly take people out which seems to make sense in their messed up world.

While I don’t have statistics it seems that in the shootings, people either already have something mentally wrong with them or that they’re picked on/ bullied a lot in the case of students.

Once again though this isn’t through statistics but admitaedly from what I hear from things over the pond. A lot of the intended shootings in schools seems to be ‘Alas poor Villian’ as it were through either is almost just being plain crazy to begin with or being driven crazy by people.

Well-thought out post. ^ All I can say is that video games and action movies are often the scapegoat when it really should be bad parenting, poor anti-bullying policies and weak/non-existent student psychotherapy.

Back to Rango, I’m really pleased that they have chosen to entertain the adults this time round. Not to say that kids or teens will not enjoy it, some may, but a lot of the humour is very sophisticated and require you to be either above the age of 20, or have a very wide knowledge of movies in order to appreciate.

My knowledge of movies doesn’t go beyond animation. xD But, if I discover the thing that’s parodied later it’s just as much fun.

Like, “Hey! They parodied that in Conker’s Bad Fur Day!”

And believe me that game parodied a LOT. xD

Rango was quite the surprise, quite the charmer. I feel as though it’s one of the best non-Pixar animated films since Coraline.

I Really liked this movie :open_mouth: I didn’t expect it! One thing that bothered me was the way Beans looked ^^’ I’m sorry but she kinda made me cringe every time I saw her YDD lovely voice though. Oh! And the rattle snake (Jake right???) >> he was pretty sexy YDDDD  sorry i have a thing for art/animations of any short YDD a flower could be sexy to me but I tend to go after things with more of a personality :open_mouth:

Hehee, I thought Beans looked really cool! I like her dress and hair. And the fact she had hair despite being a reptile! Haha, it’s cool Jake was awesome in his on sweet way! He was my favorite character in the movie. I’m really glad you and queen_of_painting enjoyed it! I know I did!

I’m so glad so many people share my enthusiasm and love for Rango! The first great and the best movie of the year so far.

I agree, a perfect way to start the 2011 movie season.

I see that Rango is due for release on DVD and Blu-ray in July - roll on July says I. Loved this film when I saw it a couple of months ago, it will easily slip into my top ten favourite animated films. Loved pretty much everything about it, from the highly impressive CGI to Gore Verbinski’s superb direction and Han Zimmer’s score.

Marvellous.

Thank you for the information Irongiant! I defintely plan to buy the DVD.

Really enjoyed Rango - a bit ‘weird’ and surreal (not a bad thing) with some good laughs, brilliantly directed by Gore Verbinski, with some outstanding animation.

Can’t wait for the Blu-ray in July.

Can’t wait for the home video release! By the way, tomorrow, I’ll be heading to a newsstand in the city (one of the only two I know) that sells the animation magazine 3DWorld. They sell this month issues for $25, but if you wait two months, they reshelve them at a discount of $19 (still expensive, but cheaper). And I don’t buy them very often anyway.

So since now is June, they should have the April issue now. And guess who was on the front cover?

When is Rango being released on DVD/Blu-Ray?

15th July in the US, 25th July in the UK.

An update on the magazine purchase… I went to the newsstand last week and to my horror, they’ve already replaced it with the May back-issue! I was literally in tears (well, okay, not really, but close!) when I asked the cashiers if they had a copy but they told me that they sent it back to the distributors already.

FUUU…

Now I’m gonna have to ask my friend who has a debit card to let me buy it online.

YAY. I can not wait!

tdit: Awww, I’m sorry to hear that bro!

Now that Cars 2 will probably be out for an Oscar Nomination  (such a pity), I’m rooting for either Rango or TinTin to win the Oscar

I hope that Rango and Rio are both at least nominated for Best Animated Picture.

So I was crusing through the supermarket aisles the other day when I saw Rango’s face peeking out at me from the checkout counter! A friend of mine with less scruples got a ‘less-than-legal’ copy in Hi-Def and he said it was excellent. To all Aussies who missed this wonderful sleeper-hit in theatres, be sure to give this a rent. As Rattlesnake Jake would say, “Make your move!” :smiling_imp:

To my American possums - I mean posse, the DVD should be out this Friday! :sunglasses:
