Sally even in cars 2?

They know what they’re doing.

They’ll make it work.

I have all the faith in the world.

Eh, I’m okay with 3 lines for Sally. I’m just glad she’s not being cut out. And I still don’t mind the Mater-ness of it all. It’s ironic, in a hilarious way. He’s not your typical lead man.

After Toy Story 3 proved how powerful and heartbreaking Pixar can be with writing out characters, I almost was afraid Sally, Doc and the others would go the way of Bo Peep and Wheezy. Though that was probably just a knee-jerk reaction, hoping that Pixar wouldn’t do something so drastic so soon in Cars 2. Then I realized how silly I was for even guessing something like Sally dying or something. The somewhat scared face in that Emoticon is perfect for my embarassed laughing.

Sally has a cameo in it, according to the early review.

It’s really Doc we should be worrying about, if he’s in it or not. Then again, I see a thread on the first page called, “Doc’s Heart Attack”… :frowning:

I think the removal of Doc was the right choice. If I heard someone’s voice coming out of Doc 4 years after Paul Newman died, I’d walk out of the theater then and there.

I seriously can’t believe you people agree with abandoning the rest of the characters for Mater…

Well, not Sally, or Sarge, or Ramone, or anybody else. Just Doc.

I’m ok with more Mater, but I really do want to see the rest of the characters again.

It’s not like the movie is called Cars. It’s called Cars 2 and there will be new characters. Toy Story cut out characters and the movies were just fine.

I know that sure the old characters were great. They’re a family, but this is a whole new movie. It has a different plot and it isn’t even in Radiator Springs. It would have been a disaster if they kept the other characters in. Besides, last time I checked, their town is back on the map. So I’m sure they’re too busy to go on a huge trip to watch Lightning go around the word. Sally has two motels to watch after now.

It just wouldn’t work.

As a character, there is nothing wrong with Mater. For those bothered by his stereotypical personality, last time I checked, the definition for character is the aggregate of features and traits that form the individual nature of some person or thing.

A character is made to make fun of something. Characters don’t exist. If one still doesn’t like it, then that person doesn’t have to watch the movie. It’s very simple.

Mater is annoying, yes, but that’s because Pixar made him that way. They made him that way on purpose. People are acting as if it was an accident. If one actually takes a second to analyze his character, rather than complaining about how annoying he is, one would see that he is a beautiful character.
He doesn’t judge.
He’s there for his friends.
He doesn’t care for anyone else’s thoughts.
He listens.
He doesn’t take life too seriously. “Ain’t no need to watch where I’m goin’, just need to know where I’ve been.”
He’s the best friend one could ever ask for.

Even though a character doesn’t exist, one still shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. In a sense, a character is a person too.

He’s annoying because he’s made that way, but after a while he doesn’t seem so annoying. He actually seems like the world needs more personalities like him.

One doesn’t have to agree with me. I’m sure, pretty much the whole forum (minus a few), doesn’t agree with me, but I guess that’s the difference. I’m not afraid to love and unloved character. I’m not afraid to stand up for my own opinions.

I guess this is the reason why I know for a fact that I will enjoy Cars 2. I’m not sitting here waiting to see what’s going to be wrong with it, though don’t get me wrong, it’s at the back of my mind. I’m sitting here in excitement. I can’t wait to see new characters. The old characters? Their story has already been told. That’s why this is a sequel. A sequel, by definition, is an event or circumstance following something. I want to see new. We know the characters are doing okay, because we already see that. I think it’s time for new faces.

Maybe if people stopped noticing the bad and focused on the good, one wouldn’t be so quick to judge.

Mater’s not a new face…I liked him at first but It’s like cake. You eat too much you get a tummyache…

We’re not abandoning him. We didn’t choose who is and isn’t in it, and we can’t do nothing about it. So I’m going to focus on the positive aspects of it.

And x3haijessiex3 right, he’s not like a horrible car. He’s a great friend.

I couldn’t agree more. I actually spend a lot of time nowadays thinking of “what makes a character a character?” and I’ve come to think that a well-developed character should be connected to no differently than a person in real life. They should not exist as just self-entertainment or “entertainment for entertainment’s sake” on the surface, because people are much deeper than that.

As for hearing about Sally’s small screen time, I’d probably be able to adjust to that depending on how decent a part she has in whatever scene she’s in. I only would have been interested to see how her relationship with Lightning had progressed since the first film, as the Cars Toons shorts and video games haven’t showed us that much.

If you didn’t have any of the characters from the first movie, then it wouldn’t be a sequel at all right? Exactly.

They choose the two characters that mean the most. You can’t have Sally because, like I said, she has two motels to cover for now. She’s too busy.

It’s not too much Mater. It’s only too much in your opinion, because he’s not your favorite character. There’s no such thing as too much of a character. The only way to have too much of one character was if he was the only character there; he’s not.

It’s just not about Sally anymore because I know she’s not going to be in there a lot…Mater most important? How?He’s a important character, but not like Lightning…I used to like Mater…but it’s just too much especially fof a character like him…It’s not just me it’s others too…

Flik-E:You’re kinda calling the pot back to the kettle arn’t you?

I’m not sure I follow you.

It’s not even that different from the original, Mater had more screentime from Sally. So there isn’t really much to complain about, there’s nothing you can do about it, so just enjoy the positive aspects about it instead of hating Mater.

I know but there’s nothing wrong with expressing how I feel about it…when you say things like what you said in the last sentence, that only makes me dislike him even more…

Flik-E:About the trailer…

He is an important character. He’s the Buzz of Cars. Lightning is the Woody of Cars.

Exactly, which is why I can’t understand why people are making a huge deal about it.

I’m sorry if you’re offended but I’m just saying my opinion as well. I just think that it’s being looked into way to much, it’s a movie. And we’re not even certain how often each character is in it.

And just because I say something shouldn’t mean you take it out on Mater.

So is everybody else in RS…not everybody likes Mater, just like everybody dosen’t like Doc,Sally,or Lightning…

EDIT:Let’s just agree to disagree…It’s funny how Cars always brings…what’s the word I’m looking for? :stuck_out_tongue:

You’re right, but the constant complaining about Mater isn’t going to change anything. It really isn’t, I promise.

I don’t understand what you mean.

Edit: Adding to the first part…

We also know our constant attempts to just let you see the other side isn’t going to change your opinion either. It’s a movie, it’s Pixar, and they can do what they want. The only opinion that actually matters is Pixar’s.

They don’t do sequels unless they know it’s equally as good as the first or better. Suddenly, because it’s Cars, everyone is going nuts? Suddenly, because it’s Cars, every little thing Pixar does for the movie is wrong? Oh, give me a break. Did anyone stop to think they may actually make it better? I don’t care how many movie trailers come out, you still won’t be able to judge the movie until it comes out.
People need to stop comparing it to the first Cars because it is not Cars. It’s is CARS 2. It’s a while different look on the Cars world itself.

Again, whether or not you want to see it is your business, but one not wanting to see the movie just because he or she dislikes a single character is ridiculous.
