I’m sort of weirdly pleased Arthur Christmas has knocked Breaking Dawn off the top spot in the UK box office 
Unfortunately, Breaking Dawn is still on top domestically after three weeks.
Thats a shame, but it’s gone down to number 3 here, with Arthur Christmas and Happy Feet 2 on top.
Yeah, I’m guessing it’s well known here. It was kind of a quiet week here at the box office. Arthur Christmas isn’t really making a thing here. It’s only made about $25M.
Yeah, Arthur Christmas is a funny one, and it was probably a good move releasing it when it was, because it’s been kicking about in the top 3 for a few weeks now and is finally hitting number 1. According to Box Office Mojo, most of it’s gross is domestic, and that looks good to me 
. Aardman are extremely well established and respected in the UK; they’re the only major animation studio here, and characters like Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep are part of the cultural package over here, so it’s box office isn’t surprising.
Yeah, the Aardman films never do that estatic here. Like you said, they seem to be more popular over in the UK. If Tin Tin doesn’t make 200M domestically, it’ll be the first time since 2005 when an animated feature doesn’t make 200M domestically.
But wasn’t Mars Needs Moms an American film that made a lot less than $200m domestically?
Yep. Only made about 20M domestically here. I just find it a bit funny that film failed.
The worst animated film i’ve seen all year . Not horrifically awful, but still very bad indeed. The mocap in Tintin is a lot better.
Yeah, it looks that way judging by the commercials. Mars Needs Moms I think deserved to flop. It was horribly marketed and was a terrible movie on top of that. I haven’t seen it yet and no plans to.
I think it could’ve been decent with a better script, and a better voice cast, and better marketing, and a not-so-lopsided story, and better advertising, and my goodness, better animation. 
Yep. The animation was so bad it made Luxo Jr look like Wall-E in a way.
Luxo Jr. still looks very good now though, probably because rendering metal and plastic is a lot easier to do and more natural looking than skin, fur etc.
