Does anyone know or have a theory
about his number: 43?
I thought it was 43.
His nimber is 43 because that was Richard Petty’s # .
Oh, I see. I fixed it now. So Richard Petty was 43 huh?
Was he considered a King back then?
Mr. The King is one of my favorite characters. He’s just so calm and understanding, and easy to understand at the same time. Too bad Chick got away with hurting him. That should’ve landed Chick in jail for that! ![]()
If I could compare the King to an athlete today, I think the best match could be Brett Farve from the Green Bay Packers.
Looks like this got resurrected.
Anyway, yeah I believe Richard Petty is nicknamed King in real life. Dont quote me on that, but I think so. Perhaps someone with more racing knowledge could confirm…
Yes you are right. Richard Petty is known as the King. And one of his race cars was the blue #43 1971 Plymouth Superbird, which was used in the movie. His wife, Lynda is portrayed as the station wagon Petty and his family traveled to the races in.
Yeah, Richard Petty was/is known as The King. I googled him when I found out the car King was based on him…(I’m silly, I know) Wikiepedia has a lot about him.
I really wish I had the Blue-Ray disk. It has a character bio of him on it. Anyone out there want to summarize and pm me with it? I will be your grateful slave forever. ![]()
But really, I love the King. It’s incredible he makes such a big impression with so little screen time. I mean think about it- he only has about five lines. And I wish they’d given his wife a name!
I soooooooo wish I had a plushie King. I’d even sleep with it! He is way cool…
According to Blu-Ray Sources, Mrs The King’s name is Lynda Weathers.
Dan.
Thanks, Dan! ![]()
Lynda is also Richard Petty’s wife’s real name. I have an OC that’s a brother to Strip named Strut…He’s a 1970 Plymouth Superbird. ![]()
