Tangled

Yeah, I was glad Eisner stepped down in 2006. Disney films were on a decline after Tarzan. Call me crazy but I think they were doing downhill during mid-Renaissane from Pocahontas to Mulan. I mean I liked Hunchback but people say it’s just an average movie.

I agree. It’s funny because when I was very small Tarzan was my favorite film for a long time. It actually started my love for Gorilla’s.

This is my theory but I think Disney started to go downhill because people were starting to think that Disney kept on repeating themselves with their films. Tangled was actually Disney’s biggest hit domestically since The Lion King.

That makes sense.

Just to clerify this, people were getting tired of Disney doing fairy tales and fantasy type films that they wanted to see Disney do something new.

I get what you’re saying Ballboi.

I personally realize that the second half of the renaissance(particularly Pocahontas and Hercules in my perceptions) are weaker than the first half, but I argue that they are still great for the most part. Especially Mulan and Hunchback.

Yeah, I thought that the second half of the renaissance was not as good as the first half. Domestically, they didn’t do as good like the first half was. I really loved Hunchback as it was probably the darkest out of anything from the renaissance. Back on topic here, I see Rapunzel is getting some love from Disney executives because on my sister’s Disney Princess merch like cups and plates, Rapunzel is on it hand drawn instead of in CGI. I kind of made a little joke and wondered why she didn’t have the short brown hair like she did at the end of the film.

Yes. I love the images of her as hand drawn. <3 But, personally, I hope they keep the blonde on merchandise. Short brown= fail.

Yeah, I don’t think she looked all that great now with the short brown hair. I only like how it matches her mother’s.

I agree entirely.

I agree, I much preferred her with Blonde Hair.

I think they should of kept Rapunzel as a blonde to make it fit in with the character. I mean, how would Rapunzel let down her hair if it’s brown and short?

I agree.

One of my favorite things about Tangled is how [spoil]Rapunzel’s tears heal Flynn’s wound. It stays (sort of) true to the original tale, of how Rapunzel’s tears heals the Prince’s eyes.[/spoil]

Yes. I like how they subtly refer to the fairy tale. As opposed to Sleeping Beauty, where… 8D Not even close. It’s almost farcical. -I love that movie. It’s just odd how off it is.-

I noticed other movies do the magic tears too.

Thats one of the things I like about this movie. Most of it stays true to the original story unlike some other adaptations on books.

Pause the scene where Flynn [spoil]cuts off her hair.[/spoil] In that split second, she’s shown with short BLONDE hair, and she pulls it off! Like a punk rocker look! Then it turns brown. This all happens very fast, so be watchful.

Wow, I didn’t even look at that way! Anyway, I thought that the title change was a bit risky at first but it did work. I think that Rapunzel is still the proper name for the film instead of Tangled. Not too sure why Disney chose that name for the title.
