The Golden Compass

Lizardgirl: thank you for the advice and I shall endeavor to read the books before I watch the films.

That’s always been the case with many films I’ve seen except Narnia for various reasons. I’m reading the book now and will read the rest of the series. I would’ve read it sooner if I heard of it. I don’t think the movie was bad but my opinion may change after reading it- it’s good so far and very detailed and enchanting, and I love it.

I could care less if the creator and movie are anti-religious. As long as I’m not offended by anything in the movie, it’s all peachy.

When I heard the movie was coming out, I decided to read the series first. So I still haven’t seen the movie… but I’m well on my way through the third book of the series.

It’s really great! Lots of suspenseful moments where you just can’t stop flipping the pages. I love all the moments with Lyra and her friends… but I find when the adults are talking it gets slightly boring. Meh… I guess I’m just a child at heart.

I just recently saw it. I went in expecting it to be something brilliant, but it turned out to be very boring, and average.
I didn’t like it. It put me to sleep. But that’s just my opinion

After reading the whole series, I still think the movie was all right. I’m worried for the upcoming films because the books really don’t seem easy to put into basic context to get across to the viewers. :stuck_out_tongue: Not only that, but if they thought this film was anti-religious, oh boy are they in for a surprise! xD

What type of suprise might that be? :stuck_out_tongue:

LeBatEnRouge: I don’t want to offend, but let’s just say they get more and more into how controlling the church (in the book) has become, and they go into exactly where people go when they die, at least it’s an interesting interpretation … but everyone nowadays is so easily offended by things like that- I don’t know why it can’t be taken as just a story. :unamused: People needn’t apply their religion to every aspect in life, most of all movies.

Ooh, I see.
Yes, I agree. A lot of people are expecting that sort of thing to be in these movies. If they don’t like it, they shouldn’t watch it.
