Yeah, that’s true. Sometimes a movie is so good you just wish they would do more even if they shouldn’t. I couldn’t blame any of the Toy Story cast if they wanted a Toy Story 4, or any opportunity to keep playing their characters, knowing how much they enjoy those roles.
I agree with Spirit. WALL-E may be my favorite Pixar film, and 2nd favorite animated film, but if they made a sequel I’d be really upset.
the person above me would be really upset about a Wall-E sequel!
HA!
The person above me would in turn love it.
ok, let’s not get this out of hand spirit!
Don’t understand you. You said you would love a WALLE sequel.
What’s so funny about that?
I don’t know if I necessarily want a sequel, but I do think the Wall-E universe is open to other canonical material. I just don’t want Disney’s promotion of the character to begin and end with the movie as they seem to be concentrating all their efforts on Toy Story and Cars now.
I’d like some shorts, but I’m happy that they aren’t(yet) planning a Wall-E sequel. I don’t think that would work.
I’d like to see what Pixar Canada has planned. We really haven’t heard any news from them since they opened.
That’s true!! I wonder why they haven’t produced anything yet…
Well it just opened and making animated shorts do take time.
That’s true too…
I completely forgot about Pixar Canada. It’ll be another while before we hear from them, probably. If we’re lucky there might be some announcements from them by the end of the year.
I sort of forgot they existed, too. After a few successful shorts, you think they may make movies?
Most likely that will stay at headquarters. During the press releases Pixar made it clear Pixar Canada will be used to animate shorts and commercials.
Ah. Okay.
I’ll jump on the wagon and say Incredibles 2 as well. Other than that, I’m ready for more original stuff.
I don’t mind original stuff. I also don’t mind sequels. Part of me loves watching Pixar tackle new things. But something inside me also prays for a TI sequel.
Personally, as Pixar has a habit of pretty much wrapping up their films, I would prefer to see spin-off’s rather than sequels.
I agree that The Incredibles has the most potential for a sequel, because it’s one of the few Pixar films that was quite open-ended. However, I actually went with A Bug’s Life 2 because of quite a few (not very good I suppose) reasons:
- Nostalgia. Whilst I loved Disney’s offerings like The Lion King, Mulan, Tarzan etc, A Bug’s Life was still, hands down, my favourite film from childhood. Because I was just a little bit too young to appreciate Toy Story, at least the first one anyway, and I was a little bit too old to be bouncing off the wall with Monsters, Inc. in a childlike manner. Because it was all very new, and colourful, and the characters were relatable. Because at the end of the day, it was a good film.
And, one of the reasons everybody loved Toy Story 3 was surely because many people in their late teens/early twenties felt nostalgic with Toy Story. Childhood films are pivotal I guess. I know A Bug’s Life is at a lot lesser extent but surely I wasn’t the only kid who loved that film. And a sequel would, I hope, do it wonders.

The amount of characters. Sadly, 4 of the original cast members have since passed, so on that note I don’t think the circus troupe could really be involved much, but if you think about the films main protaganists, Flik, Atta and Dot, I don’t see why a film cannot be made around them. They could be developed more, although the first film did do a good job on it, but you can do so much with a colony of ants. I had an idea of an older Dot wanting to be independent and follow Flik’s methods of living, and the other ants perhaps thinking it was a bad idea. Just a thought.

Because it is Pixar’s underrated film, and also the lowest grossing film, bringing it back into public attention wouldn’t be a bad thing to try. I’ve noticed, well, in the UK at least, that it has been backed into public attention since the release of the BluRay, with several showings on Disney Cinema and also on Channel Five at one point, so if a release of a DVD can have that affect, than imagine how much a sequel could do? If anything, I’d love to see the film re-released in 3-D, but then again, I feel like that with all of them.
So yeah, just IMO.
I think, with all of these short films planned though, they could do some fantastic Wall-E spin-off’s. I’d love to see a live-action prequel of BnL taking over the world, myself! That’d be really gritty and cool. If not ABL 2, I’m still going with the majority and saying TI2.
