After shrek 2 I’m not sure how her expectations were that high in the first place.
Sorry I used a movie you all appearently hate. Sorry. Besides, you know, there’s this thing called an OPINION??? Anyway…
John had a very large part in Toy Story 3 as well, but aside from that, the way I see it; Pixar is Pixar. That’'s why I was a little skeptical of Disney taking over.
And the movie was just bubbling with jokes and references to the first two movies. The date when a movie was released shouldn’t decide the quality, although in this case, Toy Story 3 used this to an emotional advantage.
You make good points, Dinoco.
And it was a good movie. Maybe, like TCM, I just need to see it again to give it a more fair review. I just wasn’t swept off my feet like I was with the first two.
Hey, now you don’t have to bring Texas Chainsaw Massacre into it.
I meant The chicken Man, the member. I don’t watch horror movies, unless they’re Psychological. The “scary” ones are just boring.
Do try to rephrase your statements in a more neutral tone, toystory4lyfe and Kyle. Not everyone hates Shrek 2 and 3. Not everyone loves Toy Story 3 (although most folks here do, myself included).
I personally do hate Shrek 3, but I never saw what was wrong with 2. It’s my dad’s favorite one.
I didn’t really like Shrek 2 personally. I’d say the fourth one is the next best one after the first movie. Really, I’d have to say Forever After has to be the most emotional of the entire series, and people should give it a chance if they haven’t seen it yet.
I don’t know, the 2nd one is the first one I remember(I was 6 when I saw the first one, and I wanted to see MI, so wasn’t paying attention). I guess it’s an attachment thing. But then, my opinions are almost always “wrong”, so maybe I should stop having them.
My wording was fine. I didn’t attack anyone or use exclamation points, I’m allowed to have my thoughts too. Its not my fault if you take my tone different then intended.
I always felt closer to the second Shrek. I wasn’t really happy to see the original. I wanted to see MI, because the poster said “from the creators of Toy Story”, and when I was little, anything Toy Story related was #1. So, naturally being a brat, I didn’t really “watch” Shrek. But, I was older when I saw Shrek 2, and I gave it a chance, and for some reason, thought it was really cute and funny. I’m sorry that this opinion is incorrect. I really am.
Back to Toy Story 3. After I see it again, I’ll see if my mind changes any. Personally, I was taken by Toy Story 2 the first time I saw it, but I loved it much more as time passed. Maybe this is like that. I did enjoy the third one. It’s just beyond me how anyone could call it the best Toy Story, or why everyone was so wrapped up in it for so long. When I think things are over reacted over, I tend to go against the grain. I guess that’s not fair, I just didn’t see why everyone loved the third one so much.
It was a joke.
Well, Incredigirl I suppose it’s really your opinion. We have no right telling you that you’re wrong and vice versa.
It actually says a lot for Toy Story 3 if the most negative thing I’ve heard another forum members say is that it’s good.
Having said that, I’m puzzled by the people that prefer HTTYD but I won’t get into that.
I’m with you there. See, I really did like HTTYD, and after I saw it I was sincerely afraid for TS3. I just have to lean toward Pixar. It’s like sports for me. It’s my home team, and I can’t ever go against them. And I didn’t even need to think about that when I saw Toy Story, I was just so blown away. I mean, I left the theater crying and started crying again in the car. Emotional impact has a lot to do with whether I like a movie too much or not, and while I teared up at HTTYD, it was nothing like my TS3 experience. Nothing. I loved it
It makes me sad that others make you feel like you’re opinions are wrong, no one should ever have to apologize for their opinions.
I agree with most people here that Shrek 3 wasn’t that great. The only good part about it IMO was Puss in Boots, because Antonio Banderas is awesome, end of story. The 2nd Shrek is my favorite, and I didn’t bother to watch the fourth one.
Of course, I understand you have the right to an opinion. I just felt your post was a little condescending towards IV rather than a critique of the movie itself (“I’m not sure how her expectations were that high in the first place.”). If I misinterpreted it, I would like to apologise and seek clarification.
You should have confidence in your beliefs, IV. As long as you critique the movie and not people or their opinions, you have nothing to be ashamed or afraid of.
Pity. The fourth one is second-best of the entire series, IMO. You should give it a rental or download and see whether you like it.
I should. I’ll check out the redbox at the grocery store. Rent a movie for $1? Awesome!
I used to absolutely love Shrek. Even as I grew up, me and my friends would watch whichever one came out (except I still didn’t see the 4th). I feel a little bit guilty for turning on a series I once loved, since Pixar was always my #1, but I’ll be sure to check it out. Does anyone remember Shrek 1 1/2 (I forget what it was called), the one that was in 3D?
Just checked out the Disney Animation Awards website and like a lot of you I love it! Especially the Day and Night exclusive soundtrack peek- it was simply unbelievable and I deeply apologize but I had to download it.
Toy Story 3 deserves to be for Best Picture, nothing less.
