Hello!
Just wanted to let you guys know that Pixar is hosting a Benefit Screening for Toy Story 3 at their animation studios in Emeryville!
This will happen on May 27th, starting at 6pm.
Tickets are available online through Emery Ed Fund.
Check out the photos sectionfor their previous Pixar events.
I plan to go to one if they hold another one next year, once I get a job. That’s one of the good things about living in the bay area.
This is why I wish I was born somewhere else.
Thanks for the update, ellie-jessie-eve!
Hi, I just wanted to send an update as I put out a message about a 2 months ago that my husband and I were travelling from Sydney Australia for this benefit at Pixar next Thursday. We have actually been planning for 1 year now to travel to the States for the release of TS3 so that we would be close to all the excitement and be able to attend events like the one for EmeryEd. I have been a Pixar fan since Toy Story first blew across our screens in 1995. Animation and toy collecting was pretty much my life. Then I met and married a wonderful guy called Damon who embraced my love of all things Pixar and enjoys it all along with me. He decided we needed to be in the States for the release of TS3. We needed to save for ages to afford this. Anyway about 4 weeks ago Damon has a bad headache, goes to the doctor and gets some scans and they find a malignant brain tumour. Of course our world has kind of fallen apart and as he needed to have emergency surgery and then start radiation and chemotherapy we had to cancel our trip. Wanted to let you all know we will not be there, in case anyone was looking for us after my earlier post. Also SaRuRu messaged me He? would be there and was travelling from Barcelona alone to attend this benefit. If anyone is going could you look out for him/her as we will not be able to meet up and I am worried they will be on their own. Wanted to share that the people at EmeryEd were fantastic and even way before the event sold out they returned our money no queries (even though i didn’t tell them the full story re my husband) so they are good and reliable. We managed to get a copy of the TS3 poster where all the toys are piled intogether with a big 3 in the middle. We put it up on the wall yesterday and will now wake up every morning to the wonderful Buzz Woody Slinky etc etc. Love of colourful funny entertaining things like Pixar will get us through this black time of our lives, and we will be thinking of all of you enjoying the premiere next Thursday, hope someday we can all meet up. Best wishes Kay and Damon (sorry so long, had a bit to say!!)
I’m really sorry to hear about your husband, Kay. I hope you and he are able to get through this difficult time, and I’m glad to hear that Pixar’s films are an ongoing source of inspiration and positivity for you both. You’re right, there’s nothing more cheerful and uplifting than waking up to the full cast of Toy Story 3 every morning.
Hi lizardgirl, thanks for your thoughts, so glad to hear there are other Pixar tragics out there. I have been enjoying your comments on the blog for a few years now. Really happy I finally decided to start logging in as me not anonymous, though I promise to keep posts shorter from now on.
I look forward to seeing you around the boards more often, Kay. And there’s definitely no limit in terms of the length of posts- in my opinion, the longer the better!
