Toy Story fan commentary - 10.20.2008

Lightning Eclipse - I think that everyone has a copy of Lifted, the short that you, JesusFreak and Netbug chose. The practice is actually in less than an hour. I hope that everyone logs on to Skype soon.

Deleted my other post, because that was basically me having a panic attack. xD

Okay, we actually ended up doing TWO commentaries. One with Rachel, and the other with Netbug009. (Me, JesusFreak and Peter were in both)

The first one was more facts and stuff like that, although we were all very unprepared, so hopefully that won’t show. From what I remember, though, everyone did very well, and once again, we ran over our time limit. xD

And the second one was more rambly and funny. xD I was really tired at that point, and I’m probably going to end up sounding like an idiot, so I apologize in advance for that. giggles But anyways, we talked about robots and aliens and being geeks…and probably other things, but once again, I’m too tired to remember them.

My favorite part was the after commentary chat, though. I was really loopy, and Netbug and I talk on LJ quite a bit, so it was just complete madness. I loved it. xD (Even though I fizzled out near the end)

I had a really great time on both, though, and I’m looking forward to doing the Toy Story commentary after this. =)

I’m going to go to sleep now so I’ll edit and upload the practices tomorrow.

Netbug - I’m really interested in why your friend thought WALL-E had such a good screenplay, particularly the things that were never done before. Could you ask her about the film again and tell me what she says? Also, you could possibly improve your connection by changing Wi-Fi channels. You can probably read how to do that in the instructions that came with your wireless router.

Ah, great, seems like I overslept again. I just woke up, in fact. Seems like a night schedule is more suitable for me, if you have any commentaries left to spare. >_<"

Sorry for missing it again, qxgnxamy.

You guys had another practice after I left then? That’s cool. I look forward to hearing them both. Wish I coulda participated in the second one and chatted with you guys some more, I really like chatting to you all in person. =)

Wboon: Hey, could you teach me how to do that ‘deadpan’ emoticon? Cos’ I’d love to give you one of that now.
I really hope you can make the next practice one, if they ever organise another one before TS. Never hear your voice one…so terrible lah.

Anyway, great work guys! I can’t wait for Peter to upload the commentaries (when he’s ready) and hear how the newbies sound like and what y’all have to say about this very ‘uplifting’ short.

thedriveintheater: Deadpan… right…

Anyway, Peter told me that no other practice commentaries could be commenced anymore, so, you’ll just have to wait for this voice to be heard - no rush.

And, I believe the phrase you were looking for is actually, xi bei ah zhat lah.

I say it “Si-bei cialat.”

Really can’t wait to hear these two practice commentaries, especially as there seem to be a few new voices, so to speak!

Rachel- Yup! We all had time to spare, so we decided we’d wait for Netbug009. It turns out her internet went out and she came back on a little while after you left, so we just decided to do another one.

Yeah, same here! I like talking to you in person, as well. It was a little different once you left, because I think you’ve been a part of every commentary I’ve been a part of so far…admittedly, things got a little crazy after that too. xD We had to restart the commentary three times because we kept screwing up. (It was partly my fault, because I messed up the introduction thing. xD; It was kinda funny, though.)

thedriveintheatre- Yeah, we had lots to say from what I remember…it’s a brilliant short in my opinion, so I’m glad we did it.

lizardgirl- Yeah, I can’t wait to hear them either! I think the newbies did a great job, even better then I did, I think. xD

Oh, I almost forgot to mention! You won’t be able to hear JesusFreak say goodbye in the second commentary, because Skype dropped his conversation for some reason towards the end. giggles I feel bad he didn’t get to say goodbye, but it was really funny at the time.

Here’s a link to the first Lifted practice commentary. You can synchronize it with your DVD by pressing play when Luxo Jr. appears on the right edge of the screen (in the Pixar logo). I’ll get to work editing the second practice.

Nice work, guys! This commentary really flowed well, and there was a good combination of facts and opinions. You all have voices that are easy to listen to. JesusFreak, it was good to hear you on a commentary! I like your deep voice. Rachel, as always, you came up with some really interesting things to say, and I enjoyed it when you talked about the composer for the music of the short. Lightning Eclipse, you probably sounded more relaxed than ever before, and I like your chatty style of commentating, and Peter, as well as pointing out some things that I hadn’t noticed before, you just have a voice to die for. :stuck_out_tongue:

So, great work! Looking forward to hearing the next one. And I agree, Lightning Eclipse- it seems like Lifted is a really good short to commentate on, as there are plenty of things to mention.

Here’s a link to the second Lifted practice commentary. Just like the first one, you can synchronize it with your DVD by pressing play when Luxo Jr. appears on the right edge of the screen (in the Pixar logo).

Great to hear you in a commentary, Netbug009! You’ve got such a clear voice and a cool accent, and you sound so enthusiastic. I enjoyed this commentary very much too; it has less facts but more general hyperactivity and funniness.

First commentary - Wow, this would have to be my favourite practice so far. And FYI guys, the way I speak is more of an indication of me and my personality than the past commentaries because I wasn’t as nervous this time. But if I had a dollar for every time I said ‘um’ I’d be a millionaire. But oh well. I think we all did pretty well since all four of us didn’t even think we’d be commentating at all that time. Lightning Eclipse - Thanks for the emphasis on ‘practice’ heheh, and I agree, that does look like Linguini, but apparently his name is Ernie. I can’t really think of anything to say except you did really well! Andy - you have a nice American accent and a great commentator voice, and I liked how you brought up how they seem to be referencing Apple more and more, these days. Glad to have you on board! Peter - Really good couple of points you made, especially how you said you didn’t really have much to say before we started the commentary. I think I’ll have to invest in a good sound system to get the full effect of the lower sound work you mentioned, never thought of that before. Great work! Oh, and thanks for recording, editing, and uploading it all (not to mention organising.) =)

Second commentary - Netbug I love your voice - you sound really confident, for some reason I expected you to sound younger, though. I love the point you made about the soundboard, that was really interesting, and the other things you said too. I had to scoot after recording the first one, so I missed ya, but I’m looking forward to talking to you in person. Lightning Eclipse - my favourite short would be either Presto or Lifted, too, and you did great on this one, as usual - you’ve got a very clear and smooth way of speaking, one of which I’d love to master! Andy - I didn’t really understand some of what you said, but I talked to you beforehand and during the first commentary and once you get the earphones and microphone sorted out, the quality of what you say will be more audible.

So, yeah, nice work team!

Lightning Eclipse - Oh, thanks very much. You’re really chatty and very easy to talk to, and you know quite a bit about Pixar, too. Glad to have you as part of the team! Heheh, wish I coulda been there to experience the stuff-ups, sometimes those are the best part of recording, but next time. =)

lizardgirl - Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it. =)

EDIT: It sounds like I’m a pack-a-day smoker or something, and I need to learn to keep my hands off the mic, fiddling with it, heheh.

Phew. Well, the commentaries went better than I thought hey would! I had a lot of fun during the commentary, as well as afterwards. Forgive me for my ‘technical difficulties.’ I’ll be picking up a headset within the week.

Rachelcakes - Thanks lot! I don’t really think my voice is great, so I probably won’t listen to the practices. :stuck_out_tongue:

JesusFreak - Since WBoon couldn’t make it to the last practice, that makes you the new second substitute (Rachel is now the first substitute). I’ll need your schedule for the next 2-3 weeks as well.

TSS and Pixar.rocks - A reminder: I still need your schedules for the next 2-3 weeks. Pixar.rocks, is your schedule similar to the way it was before your vacations? If it is I may be able to look it up.

Well, I most likely my schedule for the next 2-3 weeks is consistant with the previous schedules I have posted. There are a few acceptions though.

I am completely free tommorow. And probably the week of thanksgiving, I will be very busy and unavailable durring those days.

TSS - Do you mean you’ll probably be busy the entire week of Thanksgiving (Nov 23-29)? Or will you have free time during Thanksgiving break (Nov 27-30)?

Most likely, the entire week of thanksgiving. I probably won’t have any free time during that week.
