I actually think this is false. He did rewrite minor things to retrospectively accommodate the book to be more in line with The Lord of the Rings. He introduced the mithril and changed some Riddle in the Dark passages, for instances. He didn’t change the whole book, though, if that’s what pixarmilan means.
