You know what guys? I am so sick of all the Twilight haters! I mean it’s one thing to just say you hate it, but it’s a whole other thing when you basically do nothing but bash it! I’m sick of it! I mean, I get that you guys don’t like it, but SHEESH! Just please stop with the Twilight hating! Because I am sick of it!
I mean, I didn’t like it at first ethier, but I was convinced by a friend to give it a try, and I loved it!
I’m curious… how many of you have actually watched any of the Twilight movies and can honestly say they suck? I know it’s all cool to hop on the bandwagon and make fun of a film franchise predominantly popular with adolescent girls, but how would you feel if people never watched the Toy Story movies, and said they suck, they are charging too much for 3D prices, they were for kids, etc.?
Granted, Twit-lite probably is shallow. It probably is cheesy, or not as well-thought out as the Toy Story or even Shrek series. It probably is, it probably isn’t. I couldn’t manage the first movie (I gave up halfway), but maybe they’ve improved for the second and third. But if you haven’t seen it, I don’t think impressionistic-opinions count for anything.
That said, though, I think Twilight and Toy Story should have equal screen exposures (or TS3 should at least get the prime evening spots, and Twilight gets the graveyard shift, if I had it my way). Eclipse is being marketed as available in IMAX format here but so far the Darling Harbour screen hasn’t picked it up. In fact, they gave Shrek the majority screens in the weeks before TS, and then after scaled it down and gave TS the prime-spots, which I think is a very “fair-dinkum” way to go.
Two days before a complete Eclipse wash-out is just absolutely ridiculous, regardless of the film’s quality. If Eclipse came out first and they carpet-bomb screens with TS3 after just two days, I’d be just as mad too. Every movie deserves a chance.
Metreon in San Francisco still has full listings for TS3 in IMAX. I think they had Twilight for a midnight showing, and that was it. The other IMAX theater has replaced TS3 with Twilight, though.
CURSE YOU AQUASCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUM!
Oops.
CURSE YOU TWILIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!
I saw TS3 in Imax yesterday, and honestly, THE 3D STUNK.
3D is never good. It’s just a waste of 4 extra dollars.
Hmm, it is true that the Metreon in San Francisco still has Toy Story 3 in true Imax. I saw Toy Story 3 in fake Imax, with a smaller screen but still with the Imax brand name. I don’t think the 3D for Imax is as good as Disney Digital 3D, either, since every time you turn your head you see lines on the screen from the double projection, whereas in the newer 3D screens use a different kind of 3D polarization. I guess the only benefit to Imax is a giant screen, which is still pretty epic, but honestly, if you’ve already seen Toy Story 3 in any format, you’re not missing much.
Aw, this is such a pity. Even though I’ve heard mixed responses towards the 3D, I’ve always wanted to see it in Imax 3D just to see what it’s like. Both of the times I saw TS3, I saw it in 2D. I haven’t seen a movie in 3D in ages!
I don’t know about IMAX 3d, but the regular 3D doesn’t make that much a difference. Of course, it’s not a movie made just for 3D entertainment, it’s about the story and emotion and all. Of course, 3D does add that extra dimension to the shots, brings out a few things a little more. But the real reason I see it in 3D now is because in my theater it’s on the bigger screen, and the sound is WAY better. In the standard version, the sound is horrible. I don’t expect 7.1, but it lacks behind even my home system. The voices between the big screen and the smaller one are like the difference between when Buzz regularly talks and when you press his buttons for toy mode. And then, there’s like no subwoofer, so the shockwave when Jessie yodels and things like that you can’t even hear…
My prediction of TS3 vs Twilight still stands;
Twilight will have it big this weekend. By next weekend it’s number of attendance is going to DROP hardcore and people will still be packing in for the evening showings of Toy Story 3.
Eclipse: Opening Day was around $68 Million
Second Day: $24 Million
That my friends is an EPIC FAIL.
I’m glad I got to see it in IMAX on opening day.
Is it going to premier in other countries in IMAX, though? I hope it does.
TS3 is still in IMAX but it is VERY limited.
Moviefone.com lists SIX movie theaters that are playing it. Really disappointed that I didn’t have the chance to see it in IMAX.
