I watched the trailer a few days ago. Absolutely magnificent. The premise alone is one of Pixar’s most intriguing, dramatic, and unusual, and I whole-heartedly look forward to seeing it for myself on the big screen. Really, there’s something about this work of art that just… draws me into it…
May I point out that a majority of the clips shown in this trailer were also shown at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. In fact, the only section of the trailer that I had never seen before was the moment where [spoil]Carl refused to let Russell into his home[/spoil]. Nevertheless, it was good to see it again.
(I can’t believe that you guys are already spotting references to other Pixar films in this thing.

I’m sure that this will be another Pixar hit to come next year.
As for theatrical release in Philippines. It is delayed by about a month or two from USA.
WALL-E was released on June 27 on USA. WALL-E was released in Philippines on August 13.
JhOpZzZz- I’m not sure if other release dates aside from the US one have been released yet. I’ve been searching around on the internet for them for a while, and haven’t come across anything yet, so there’s still time to hope that the delay isn’t too big for most countries outside the US! It does seem to vary wildly from Pixar film to film, though, so although those in the Philippines, for example, had to wait for two months longer for WALL-E, there’s a chance that Up will be released sooner (or, dare I say it, later!) I guess those outside of the US will just have to wait and see for now.
JhOpZzZz - Here’s the thread for Up Release Dates. Those are the only ones I know of for now, but if I find any more countries, like Philippines, then I’ll add to that thread. =)
Well, I’ll just know the release of Up in the Philippines by the time a poster of a Pixar movie will be posted on a billboard near our school.
The reason I know of Pixar Movie releases on Philippines is simply because of Pixar Movie poster posted on the billboard. it started since Ratatouille.
Ratatouille was shown on theaters in Philippines July 25 2007 and was released on R3 DVD on November 21, 2007
WALL-E was aired August 13, 2008 and it lasted 4 weeks on Glorietta 4(A mall in the capital city of Manila)

Did anyone here catch the Up sneak peek hosted by Pete Docter on Disney Channel? It was early during Totally New Year and it featured the trailer, character bios for Carl and Russel featuring concept art and two new clips from the movie. Don’t fret! I think it’ll be on Disney.com tomorow.

That was so cool! I squeed the second Pete Docter came up on screen- I just love the guy- and his commentary over the top of the trailer was just so enthusiastic. And we’ve learnt a few new things about the film- [spoil]I never realised Carl was a balloon salesman! Guess his experience with balloons probably helped him work out the physics side of things in how many balloons he’d need to lift the house and that sort of thing, plus that’s where he gets all the balloons from- it all makes sense! And I’m curious about the scene where Carl seems to almost lose the house, especially since their surroundings look pretty creepy and hostile. And the background as Pete Docter was shown talking was beautiful, think it was the same concept art that we saw earlier, as one of the first images released for this film.[/spoil]
The good thing about that video was that it was both informative and interesting, but was also short and didn’t reveal any major spoilers about the film. As someone who really doesn’t want to know too much before seeing Up, I’d say that this preview is okay to watch if you’re of the same mindset. Thanks so much for the link, martini! feuhfeauiaezofhohr!!! That video is amazing! The dark mood of that new scene makes it seem like the house may be being stolen. I’m not too sure, actually. I love the fogginess and the music. It adds an exciting atmosphere to the scene.

[spoil]I can’t wait to see the outcome of the new scene, looks pretty scary. I noticed also that Carl does his grumble against a white background… maybe they’ll do Up vignettes like they did for Wall-E? 
I also liked how Russell was so wasted after walking so long, and he just goes limp to be dragged by the house, then when he sees an interesting bug, he’s suddenly awake and running after it!

It is getting a tad annoying when they have to keep reminding us of past successes (just in case we haven’t heard of them before), but it’s still nostalgic in a way, I guess.This is shaping up to be another winner, folks.
I think they’re hinting to those who aren’t familiar with Pixar as a studio that Up will probably be a great film. I can’t tell you how many people I talk to who mistake movies like Shrek for Pixar because it’s CGI. shakes head
This movie looks so darn fuuuun. It’s going to be a comedy, I guess. Hoorah! And they really left us on a cliffhanger, didn’t they?
Yeah, that is a bit annoying to me too, but it’s also reassuring, funnily enough. Maybe the day will come when the brand recognition for Pixar will be so high (like with Disney) that people will know the difference. Pixar has Disney Studios to distance themselves from (as creators of the film), as well as other studios that specialise in the CG medium (Dreamworks, Sony, Fox, Blue Sky etc).
Just finally saw the Sneak Peek with Pete Doctor. It looks like it’ll be quite the adventure!! I also love how he gives a little background of Carl and Russell, so we get a sense of their personalities and the kind of relationship that they might have…get me really intrigued!

You could say “Up” brought me to this forum.
I’m a long time Pixar fan, as I’m sure everyone here is.
I’ve been interested in Up since I attended the San Diego Comic Con panel regarding the project. There I was lucky enough to see a good 15 minute portion from the beginning of the film. Just from this snippet I, and many others around me, were moved to tears.
That expierence plus the excellent advertizing they did for up (elevators completely covered from top to bottom in an Up-style sky image.) really cemented my interest in the film.
Looking forward to following the film’s progress with you!
You’ve seen fifteen minutes of Up? So lucky! And Pixar has gone for the emotional card right at the beginning of the film? Sort of reminds me of Finding Nemo in that sense.
