Violet Parr

I have seen many lengthy descriptions of their favorite character; I have yet to see a Violet

one. I decided to write one in dedication to my favorite character of The Incredibles.

Violet is one of

the more impacting characters in the movie. You all saw this when she was at school and the boy who she really

likes appears. In turn, she disappears. This shows the audience that she was a very shy person beause she

literaly vanished when Tony wondered who was staring at him.

Next was the Dinner scene. Although many

familes can relate to the dinner scene, I think Violet was the one that stood out to me. You can all ready tell

by her face, hair and clothes that she was an insecure girl. Many teenagers out there can relate to her. I found

it very hilarious when Dash and Violet were fighting. Although she got slapped a few times, her force fields can

make a great offensive force against Dash’s speed and overagressiveness. Her last lines of the dinner scene

explained why she was so “emo” about her life. All she yearned for was to be normal and her powers were

only a curse to her.

I found it surprising to find Violet eavesdropping on her parents arguement. There is

a lot that I can say, but I’ll only talk about a couple points. One, when her parents send her to bed, I guess

this feeling that she knew something was up with her parents and probably was afriad of her parents getting a

divorce. Also, that scene prove her invisibility is a good power to have when sneaking around the house. I

believe this made many fans wonder Violet’s past life when she was a super in diapers and as a kid.

There

is nothing much to say about Violet durring the “Life’s Incredible Again”. All I can say is how cute

does Violet look when her parents flurt around the house? I’m sure she felt very embarassed.

I’m sure

Violet is a good girl who obeys her parents. When her mom told her that she was going away, she placed her in

charge, I think that she would find it odd that her parents have been acting very stange lately. So when she

finds out about the Super suit E made, and found out about it’s wonderful ability to turn invisible whenever she

does, I believe that was when her curiousity got the best of her and that’s when she decided to stow away on the

plane.

I don’t know exactly how Violet got on to the plane or whose idea it was. The best theory I have

ever came across was Dash’s story located on his deviantart profile. When Helen fouund out, I found it hilarious

to se the teenager trying to put the blame on her little brother. Durring the missile lock sequence, I was

totally on the edge of my seat. Sweat drove down my face as I hoped for Violet to be alright. I noticed how

insecure and restricted she felt when her mother commanded her to put up a force field to defend the plane. It

was a shame that she failed and Elastigirl had to save them instead. To make things worse, I was also at the edge

of my seat when Violet was falling in the air. I was glad to see Helen save their lives once again.

I know

how hard the hair simulation is for Violet is, especially with water hair. I’m sure the underwater, abovewater,

submerging and emerging from the water shots were hard but I must say they were good. It was also funny to see

Violet panic and her mother had to splash water in her face to calm her down. It was also intresting to see

Violet grousing over the fact that she did not suceed in daving her family from death. And while floating toward

the island, a nice shot of Violet curled up into a tiny ball was quiet emotional.

Brad Bird said in the

commentary version that he had an idea of Violet looking at Helen praising Dash in regret, shame and remorse.

I’m sure he would after she failed to use her force field. To make matters worse, she was placed in charge of

taking care of her brother in a dangerous place and a jepordizing situation. At first, she was scared and unsure

that she could do it. The mother/daughter talk outside the cave was the most powerful part in the entire movie.

First Violet confessing her guilt, followed with the heart impacting, eye tearing talk her mother gave. Violet

looked so cute and so insecure. But when her mother brushed her hair behind the ear, finished her talk, and when

she placed on her mask, I believe that the climax of Violet’s character change had just reached its

highpoint.

As soon as she got back into the cave, she started practing her powers. It kinda got a little

tense when Syndrome launched the rocket that almost killed the kids. Fortunately, Violet escaped with her life.

It was an unusual moment to see Dash sleeping on Violet, a rather wierd bonding moment indeed. When she woke,

more trouble occured. Both she and Dash had to run for their lives. When the gaurds were released into the

jungle, I was nervous that they were going to get caught and killed. I was happy to know that she had something

the gaurds didn’t, Invisibility and Force Fields, both came in handy for avioding the gaurds. It was also good

to use to even land a few shots on the guard, even though she got knocked to the ground and almost killed while

hiding underwater. When her brother Dash saved her life, everyone in the audience should’ve figured out that the

brother/sister rivalry was over. It showed when Violet leapt in front of Dash to block the bullets as wel. This

also introduced Violet’s new ability to defy gravity inside her force field. With the combined power of Dash and

Violet, the formed the ultimate tag team move, the Incrediball. Of course, add a little mundane and the

Incrediball runs into Violet’s parents. Th reunited family hugs and that was when the bad guys come back. Apart,

Violet was just Super. Together with her family, that would equal an Incredible fighting force. But not after

watching her parents doing what they did best in their hayday. And after some more embassing moments of "I

love you". I really hated it that Syndrome had to take a cheap shot and totally immobilize the family. It

sickens me to see Vilet held in a prison containment unit like that. She is only a girl for goodness

sake.

But like most bad guys, just when you think you had your nemesis caught, they surprise you again.

Violet was no exception. Because of her force field, even Syndrome’s unique binding device could not hold

Violet. After her way of saying “you are forgiven dad”, she sets her family free. During the oart

where the family ran down the hall, I was so excited and so pumped up. In my opinion, I think Violet is a very

smart girl. I mean, she knew how to get a rocket to where ever you want, even if you can’t fly

one.

“Road Trip” is like a lot of road trips you guys must have taken with your family. But

Violet’s road trip with her Super family was like nothing like she ever experienced. I hate being deatailed, but

she pressed that button with great authority. She buckled her seatbelt like she was about to go on a rollar

coster she has never been on before. And how appropreate, it was to the family and even the audience. There was

that sense of fear and exhileration we all get before desending down to earth, twists and turns, even a big loud

scream from a girl. Everyone out there should know that I am talking about Violet. And at the end of the

“Road Trip Rollar Coaster”, Violet was so excited and felt so exhilerated.

I believe Violet

noticed that her parents have finally settled their problems after she witnessed the long kiss her parents

shared. Then the romantic moment is interupted by an out of control robot. If it weren’t for Violet’s force

field. I believe that each time Violet’s force field takes a devestating hit, she would grow weaker and her

energy decrease. That probably explains why Violet got knocked out when the Omnidroid bashed the force field,

that hit Violet on the head. I was scared when Violet laid there unconscious and with the Omnidroid about to

crush her. I was relieved when her dad and mom saved her. I was glad when Violet assured her mom that she was

okay and when she crawled over to observe her family fighting. She played a key role in defeating the Omnidroid.

Thanks to her, the remote was in the grasp of her family. I laughed to see her stuggle with the remote, then just

pressed a random button that. . . well worked. The courage attribute was show when she refused to run away. And

just like that, the Omnidroid had been defeated. Anyone can hypothisize how Violet really felt after recieving

the glory from her first ever Super Hero work. Some could say she was excited, estatic, or maybe a little

embarassed.

I don’t doubt that Violet was listening to what Rick and Bob were talking about while dribing

home. Each relationship (mother/dughter, brother/sister, father/daughter) was completed when her dad complemented

her wearing her hair back. That showed that Volet had finally emerged from her shell. Even though Dash was rater

excited after his first hero work, I’m sure Violet just ignored him. I mean, it’s her little brother, what more

can you say?

When Violet and her family ran into the house, I was once again shocked to see Syndrome

invade their home and blasted her with the immobi-ray. I felt hopeless watching Violet immobilized and watching

her and her family getting thrown on to the Kitchen furniture. Come on dude, She is only a girl. Hurting one

isn’t right. When she dashed outside, helpless in saving her brother, I too felt her emotions. It was rather

nice to see her react to Syndrome’s threats and his eventual death. I felt really proud of her when she

protected her family when she threw a force field to block the falling debris. Great job Violet. Great

improvement from the plane scene.

Well, after that adventure, we now see everyone’s favorite teenage

heroine wearing brighter colors (pink shirt and headband) and her hair out of her face. That was when Tony came

up, of couse, everyone should remember him as Violet’s crush. That feeling still stuck with her thoughout the

entire movie. As you can observe, she found the courage to talk to him. Ironicly, Tony was just as shy of her

just as she was of him in the begining of the film. Even Violet asked Tony out instead of him asking her. All it

took to find VIolet’s confidence was a chance to shine. It was hilarious when she was cheering for her brother.

Speed up, slow down, speed up. . . wow. As the family walked happily out, the Underminer shows up. This surprises

the family, but when I saw Violet place her mask on with indominable spirit, I knew she was ready to fight crime

with her family.

There, I’m done. I’ll stop for a little while and work on my fanfic.

Wow, That just summarizes the

every Violet Parr part from a Violet Parr fans point of view. It is amazing once you take things slow and really

analyze everything behind it.

I know you mentioned it before TSS, but Tony was just as shy as Violet was. I wonder what will

happen if both met each other before Violet went through her ultimate trasformation.

It confuses me, but before she changed the

colors of her clothes, did she always were the same clothes over and over again? I mean, check these three pics

out.

It’s hard to see the same outfit in the second one, but it’s there.

hehe - kinda like Tony Rydinger and

the never changing turtle neck.

I think that was probly a ploy to keep from having to make new outfits for

her which is a real pain to do especially if only for a single scene or two. In this case though since the

scenes take place a few weeks to a month apart it’s more than reasonable to assume that there was plenty of time

for a wash between wearings (unlike if the scenes were on consecutive day or only a couple days apart) so whie

improbable it wouldn’t be unheard of for her to be wearing the same outfit in the scenes - especially if it was

her favorite.

And at the risk of going OT - when you look at what goes into designing good CGI clothes and

how much it’s like actual costume designing for live action movies with the patterns and tailoring and such, I

think maybe it’s time to start considering CGI clothes for the Best Costume Design Oscar.

Probably the reason why Violet used the same clothes over and over again is because the

clothes are hard to simulate. Besides, they have enough problems with the hair.

I think

she has the least amount of costume changes for the entire Parr family. She has her navy blue outfit, her

pajamas, her Super Suit, and her bright colored clothes at the end of the film.

Don’t they have that award

in the Anines Dash?

Hasn’t anyone noticed the part in Violet’s hair changes

from one side of the head to another? If anyone’s got a screencap, show me.

Hey, that’s profiling! XP

Anyway, I’ve also

noticed the change in how Vi’s hair is parted. I made this for you,

TSS:

hairparts.jpg[/img]

Both shots are after Lucius leaves, so there

hasn’t been any significant movement made by Vi that would’ve caused the change.

My guess is, they

parted her hair on the other side so you could see her face better, but you’d think Pixar would pick up on

something like that. shrugs

Hopefully, if you wern’t paying any attention to any details,

you souldn’t be able to notice. I didn’t until I read a goof list from IMDB.

Which character has the most

similarities with Violet?

Maybe her mom?

Violet just wants to be normal, and

Helen just wants the family to try to fit in with everyone else, regardless of their

powers.

~~=oP

Tony, both like each other. Does this count? I mean, both have similarities. Bot are

teens, both like each other, both like the clothes they wear (turtleneck and the dark

clothes)

I agree with PV. Violet and Helen are also females

and both look pretty.<3
Well, maybe not for those reasons.

I mean, it’s obvious that they’re both teenagers and like each other, but we should try to compare them in

other ways.

I have this weird idea about how Violet and Tony are similar. I think they both long to be

something other than what they are. The explanation for Tony is longer, though.

Violet has superpowers,

but she wants to be normal. Tony hangs with the popular kids, but maybe he doesn’t want to be. His friends

joke about how the girls act around him, but he doesn’t seem to care all that much for it (as seen in the first

scene with him). He probably gets tired of attracting that kind of attention from girls and others. I’ll bet

Tony wishes he could be average so he doesn’t have to deal with that all the time.

And if Tony really

wanted to, he could date any of the preppy popular girls that knew him, but he chose to be with Vi.

Or

maybe I’m wrong. Maybe he thinks to himself everyday, Oh yeah, I’m hot stuff and the ladies want me.

:smiling_imp: But I really believe in what I said above.

~~=oP

That is a good explanation. I

wonder what would happen, (not that it will PixarVixen) if Violet went out with another guy and Tony went out

with the popular ladies.

o_0 I’d hate for that to happen. They are the only couple that I WANT to be a

couple, even though I’m head over heels for the guy.

~~=oP

Wow. I see mostly everyone here still loves Violet XD My

opinionsof her have changed…a little.

Exactly how has it changed? You like her now?
