Violet's art work

Violet Parr: My birthday was good. Very enjoyable. I went out with my parents for lunch then went to a baseball game with a few of my friends. How about you?

Sounds like fun  ! I like baseball. I’ve only been to one game, but I though it was neat.

Well… mine was kind of spread out- like, I got my presents a few at a time over the week instead of all-at-once. On the seventh, we had a small party with a few of my friends. And on the eighth, me, Mom, Dad, and a friend of mine went to Disney where I got my picture taken with- who else?- The Incredibles.

Violet Parr - Lovely portrait of Violet! I particularly like the way you rendered it. Her smile is very nice, as well.

The Star Swordsman was bound to like it, and rightly so. Great job!

– Mitch

Thanks, Mitch  ! Glad you liked it  .

OK, here’s your next update. This is some concept art I did a while ago. It doesn’t really belong to a story quite yet, but it does summarize a scene from a potential fanfic of mine.

The story behind it is that Violet (for a reason I haven’t defined yet) is very very sick. Not that she’s dieing or anything, she’s just very weak. And Bob’s been trying to help out as best he can. One night, the family gets called out to a mission. Of course, Violet can’t go, she’s just too weak. The rest of the family goes to suit up; Bob, however, hesitates. Helen notices her husbands strange behavior and asks him if he’s coming. He thinks for a second, looks at Violet, then looks to his wife. He replies “No. I think I need to stay home with Violet.” Helen is surprised to hear this from her husband. Normally, he would do almost anything to be out on the field. But he said “no?” He could have gone. He could have asked Helen to stay home with her instead. They could have even left her at home alone. But Bob would not have it. He was to concerned for his ailing daughter. “She’s too sick to leave her alone,” he said, “You guys go ahead. I’ll stay home with her.” Helen and Dash head out, leaving Violet to sleep in her bed with Bob sitting by her side. When they arrived home, they see Violet laying on the couch, clinging to her father. She was half asleep, but it was apparent she was wasn’t well. She must have been having stomach pain or something, because her face was white as a sheet and she was curled up in a tight ball. Bob gently rubbed her back, trying to settle her. Helen sat down next to them.

“What’s up?” she asks.

“She couldn’t sleep,” he replied, “Her stomach was bothering her. I just decided to bring her out here so we could watch TV together.”

Helen smiles. She’s glad her husband’s finally putting his family before his work. Violet slowly falls asleep in his lap, finally settled enough to sleep.

(Because Bob did not go on the mission, he is portrayed wearing a T-shirt instead of his Super Suit.)

Hope you guys enjoy  !

You’ve got some great art Violet, and that card for TSS was really neat. It’s really cool that you went out of your way to do that for him. Keep up the great work!

Man, this community is already great!

Your birthday drawing for TSS is great, Violet! Violet looks very happy and content, and I like how you’ve drawn her with her hair behind her ears to show her confidence and the new self that she found at the end of the movie. That was so sweet of you to do that for him!

And I like your concept art, too. It’s a nice idea for Bob to stay at home instead of going out to fight and that really does show how he’s developing as a family man. The drawing is really good- I especially like Bob’s expression and face generally- and the soft shading and use of shadows works well.

That Violet drawing you did with her half asleep on her dad’s shoulder is by far the most compassionate drawing and sweetest (both complementary and heart-felt) drawing I have ever seen. When I saw it and read the back story to the picture, I was brought to tears. It was so beautifully drawn and thought up Violet. I thought you have impressed me enough with your TI drawings, but this raises the bar to a whole new level. I love it.

ffdude1906- Thanks  ! Always nice to have a new viewer on my art thread  . Welcome to Pixar Planet!

lizardgirl- Thank you  ! Yeah, I must say, the card for TSS did turn out pretty good, but I think I might have made her face a little to dark. The tone of her flesh seems a little… well, messed up. But, other than that I’m glad with the way it turned out.

And, as for the concept art, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to think of ways to have more Father/Daughter moments between Violet and her dad, and I thought that would be a good way to show how he’s rethinking his priorities. And, I agree, Bob’s face is one of the best things in that pic. Usually, I’m not very good at drawing Bob, especially his face. But in this one it turned out pretty good. Thanks  !

The Star Swordsman- Awww… thanks  ! I’m so glad you liked it.

Really  ? Well, if that’s true you’ve just helped me fulfill one of my dreams as an animator  . Ever since I got into writing and drawing, I’ve wanted to be able to make someone cry for a cartoon character. Not just to see them cry, but to know I really reached them. Thanks, TSS!

You are welcome Violet Parr. You areally reached me on your most recent artwork. In fact, I get this strange feeling that I have seen your artwork before on deviantArt.com. Correct me if I am worng, but do you have a deviantart account?

Actually, no, I don’t. Like I said before, my first post on my art thread here on PP was the official debut of my art. I’ve never posted it anywhere else except on TinyPic, but I was just using that as a hosting website so I could post it here.

Oh I see. It’s just that there is a member on DA who is also a Violet fanatic and the drawing look kinda similar, but different to the ones you post here.

Anyways, I can’t wait to see what you got next.

Well, I’ve finished one of the concept art pics for TSS’s fanfic. Sadly, TinyPic is not cooperating with me. So I won’t be able to update tonight. Sorry. Just wanted you to know I didn’t forget about it. I’ll try again tomorrow.

OMG Violet Parr, your concept art is amazing and sweet. Seriously, you really nailed drawing these characters (not that you haven’t already before). Violet really does look ill, just as she’s supposed to. And the story to go with it is also very sweet. I’m sure it’s turning out to be a very nice, well-written fanfiction. The illustration has nothing wrong with it- it’s terrific!

Thanks, BDD  ! I’m so glad you liked it! But the story behind it is just one scene. It doesn’t actually belong to a full fanfic quite yet. But thanks anyway  !

And I finally figured out the problem with TinyPic! It wasn’t the site. The pic was on the wrong format  ! Boy was that a kick in the pants! face palm :unamused: I can finally post the concept art  !

(concept art) The Incredibles: Syndrome’s Return by The Star Swordsman
Chapter 26: The Concluding Combat

Hope you enjoy  ! And I hope I captured the scene correctly. But that’s for TSS to decide. Hope you like it  .

What I expected: A comic book style artwork with each frame picturing events in Chapter 26 of my TI fanfic with color and action packed scenes in each frame.

What I got: An epic stand-off between Invisigirl and Syndrome that when I first saw it, my jaw litteraly dropped on to the floor. THis was better that what I expected. THis was absolutely incredible Violet Parr. Quite possibly the best drawing you have ever done.

Wow, once again, awesome! You’ve brought to life my favorite part of TSS’s fanfic! The pose of Violet like she’s ready for whatever Syndrome’s got is very well drawn. And you’ve got Syndrome’s expression, much less his appearance and such, done spectacularly. It’s nothing short of outstanding. You’ve done it again, Violet Parr! :-D)

Wow, you just keep getting better and better at your art, Violet Parr! It’s very inspiring to see your constant improvements.

Well, I like the birthday present for TSS! The perspective (half worm-eye) makes her look tall and impressive, and I like her confident pose. I’m not sure whether it’s intentional, but I like the ‘fog’ effects behind her.

The piece of Violet and her parents on the couch has a sweet backstory to it, and I like the shadows cast from their bodies, that’s good attention to detail that I myself would have forgotten. I don’t quite remember the fish wallpaper, but I may need to check the film again! If there’s one criticism, is that maybe Helen’s face looks a bit ‘off’ and could do with some work, but I can’t reach that level of closeness myself, so it’s a great effort!

And the concept art for the climatic showdown for TSS work is awesome! The shine in Violet’s hair is amazing, and I like how you smudged/smeared the clouds. The guidelines are pretty good too. Only critique is that Syndrome’s tractor beams ends in thin air, maybe drawing a ‘beam sphere’ around Violet (if you meant to depict Syndrome as ‘freezing’ her) or an explosion (if he’s shooting lazer blasts) would be better. But as it is, that is your best work to date, so massive kudos to you!

Sorry if I have asked this or you have mentioned it, but do you have a DeviantArt account?

Really well done, Violet! The poses and composition are really nice. I love the shading done on her hair. Keep it up!

Let me stop and say (I’m sorry I didn’t say it before), God was totally behind that drawing  ! I can’t even believe it came out that great. Truth be told, I’ve only drawn Syndrome once before (that I can remember). And it was a LOOOONG time ago. And as for the background, I usually stink at drawing backgrounds. I procrastinated for a wile, and I was scared I wouldn’t draw Syndrome OR the backdrop correctly. But when I started drawing, everything kinda just fell out on the paper. I’m thanking God BIG TIME for this one :-D) !

The Star Swordsman- Thanks  ! I’m glad you liked it  ! I hope I had a good grasp of the scene. Is this how you pictured that particular scene?

bright dot-dasher- Thanks  ! Glad I got the poses correct. I’m glad you liked how Syndrome turned out. Thanks  ! That means a lot to me!

thedriveintheatre-

Thanks  !

Thanks. I think that’s one of my favorite shots of her. She looks so confident and maybe even like she has a little bit of an attitude. And, no, the “fog” effects were not intentional. I didn’t even notice it. Thanks anyway  !

Well, the back story still needs to belong to a fanfic, but I’m glad you liked it  . Thanks for the compliments on the shadowing. And, about the fish… it’s not really wallpaper. It’s like a wall ornament, or something. But, yeah, if you look close behind the couch, that’s were it is:

Yeah, I’m not quite satisfied with Helen’s face, ether. For some reason, I sometimes have trouble drawing her face. There’s something about her profile, :unamused: I don’t know, it’s just down right difficult. Thanks for the constructive criticism  .

Thanks  ! And I meant to depict Syndromes imoba-ray to be in mid-air, not quit reaching Violet yet. But I do realize what you mean. It’s just that I tried to make it look electric, to put some kind of end to it, but it didn’t turn out so good, and I didn’t want to ruin a good thing. And I couldn’t think of anything else to do with it, so I just left it like that. But I will have to practice that.

Your not the first one to ask that  , but that’s OK. I love answering questions  . No, I don’t. But I’ve been thinking about it. I’d like to get more reviews, so I might register an account. Thanks for the comment  !

Hannahmation- Thanks  ! I appreciate the comment and encouragement  .

God Bless  ! Expect another update soon  .

Great stuff, I love the one with Syndrome, very well shaded, lit, and detailed. Looks amazing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see your upcoming work turn out better.
