WALL•E coming to Blu-ray and DVD on November 18th

I’d love Blu-ray too, but the cheapest option seems to be to buy a PS3 and plug it into my widescreen flat panel PC monitor, but I’m not even sure if I can afford a PS3 !

I think that now the cheapest (but good) BD player costs less than a PS3 (of course, the PS3 let you also PLAY :stuck_out_tongue:). I mean the Sony’s ones, around 250-300$

[this is a bit OT, but look at this…]

Thanks!

I don’t know whether to buy the Blu-ray version or not. I have a PS3, so essentially, I have a Blu-ray DVD player, but we don’t have a HD TV so the benefits are pretty much wasted.

Does anyone know that, if I were to buy WALL-E on Blu-ray, it would still work even if I just use a normal TV? Because then I wouldn’t have to buy the DVD twice, and when we do get a better TV, I’ll have the Blu-ray DVD read and waiting.

Storyboards is the picture-in-picture feature and exclusive to Blu-ray.

oh, really? oO I hoped they were two different extras…

about the HDTV: I think that a BD player requires a HDTV. I don’t think it’s the same with the PS3. I think that you should be able to see the Blu-ray Disc, but of course you can’t notice the difference.
You could try to rent a BD, and see if it works on the PS3.

So there’s a 2 disc and a 3 disc Blu-Ray and let me guess, the DVD has next to nothing? Anyway, I’ll have to remember the date, Nov 18.

lizardgirl- A Blu-ray player does work with a normal TV and so does a PS3’S BP. It is definitely worth buying the Blu-ray, it’s got “all you need and so much more!” So what if it’s not in HD, you’ll have all the features, and when you get a proper TV you won’t need to re-buy the movie.
lennonluvr9- Actually, if you read the past pages you’ll find that the WALL-E one disc and three disc DVD releases come with a lot of stuff, including commentary.

My laptop says it’s Blu-Ray compatible under it’s features, but I got the Pixar Shorts Vol. 1 on Blu-Ray and it seemed to not accept it.

are you sure that the disc drive is a blu-ray drive? maybe the laptop says it’s bluray compatible just because the screen is HDready or because it will support an optional blu-ray drive…

or it’s a region problem. have you bought the computer and the disc in the same country/region?

Is there going to be such thing as a WALL•E 2-disc DVD?

DVDTown.com has a different version for the Blu-ray 3disc edition, without the rusty orange bar:

@rachel: no, afaik there are only the 1DVD and the 3DVD (2 discs + DisneyFile) editions
anyway… still waiting for the official press release (expected for yesterday)

I don’t think that’s official cover. It looks like a homemade photoshop mix of single disc dvd cover + 3 disc blu-ray set of new Narnia movie. But it sure looks better…

hm, you’re right… but I agree, this version is better :stuck_out_tongue:

So, there’s the one-disc DVD with a few features, a three-disc DVD with all of the features and a Disney File copy, a two-disc Blu-Ray that has everything the three-disc DVD has (except the Disney File) and few other features, and a three-disc Blu-Ray with everything, including the Disney File. Is that correct? What does the Blu-Ray version have that the DVD version doesn’t and vice versa? Is there international differences (besides localization)?

You got it right Axiom.
Besides the quality, the Blu-ray has these extra features:
• Cine-Explore
• BURN•E picture-in-picture
• Axiom Arcade
• Geek Track
• BD Live
and for an additional $5 a DisneyFile copy.
I’m not sure the DVD’s have anything extra that the Blu-ray releases have, but I’d guess not.

[Retorical] When is the official press release coming!!!

This explains each one pretty clearly, so you can see which has what the other one doesn’t, etc:

I think I’m going to settle with the 3-disc DVD, because the extra features that the Blu-ray has doesn’t interest me that much.

I saw the release date on a insert in the new little mermaid movie. The date was November 18th.

Hey nice looking tigality thats the way to do it

welcome to pixar too…hey your the 960th user.

The 1-disc version is now at #5 on Amazon.com’s bestselling DVDs.
