Yes, this is not a hoax, I did find the toys (they’re about 3-5 inches tall) this past weekend at my Toys R Us.
I went looking for ‘Cars’ (found no new ones). As I pased one of the end-caps near the action figure aisles (I never do look at those as they usually have nothing I want), I glanced along the top shelf, and saw those ‘sad eyes’ staring back! Needless to say, I had found Wall-E! They had 3 different types of Wall-E, as well as a toy of EVE, and one of that little robot named MO from the latest trailer.
Each was going for $9.99, but I only got the ‘U-Repair Wall-E’ and ‘EVE.’ What I found strange was that I had not heard anyone else say they had seen these yet, or even any show up on eBay.
Needless to say, I freed them from their cardboard and plastic prisons, and began playing around with them.
U-Repair Wall-E has several detachable parts that you can then reattach to his boxy body (if you remove his parts, he looks like he’s in his ‘sleep/hiding’ mode). Though not as rusty as I’d like, he still exudes cuteness. He also has movable treads, but you need a surface to really provide friction for them to move (my computer table was too smooth, but he moved fine going over the carpeting in my apartment).
EVE comes with a little clear plastic base so that she appears to hover. If you press down on her head, she goes through 6 different eye expressions. Mine malfunctions at times (and she gives the ‘evil eyes,’ which are unsettling) You can also replace her right arm with her ‘blasting gun’ arm. She also comes with a tiny rockbase that you can pop a chunk off to make it like she blasted a hole in it! A button her back opens her chest to reveal a compartment to store things, and also reveals a little plant emblem inside. She also has a lightbulb and a shoe with some dirt and a sprout coming out of it.
I sent an email to PIXAR Planet, asking if they’d like to see photos, since I haven’t seen anyone else report these toys. I currently have Wall-E and EVE on my computer desk. Wall-E is holding EVE’s right hand, and looks like he’s reciting poetry, while Eve appears to be giggling (the hopeless romantic in me ). I may take them home this weekend and pose them around the greenery of my local park.
