Woo! Just came back from the Con,
and let me tell you, that Wall-E Panel blew me away.
I’ll tell you some more later, I’m still trying to recover from the long drive home. ![]()
Do you have pictures Googly bear?
Yes, However, I didn’t take any pictures of the footage they showed, I’m an honest Googly-bear, and I wanted to respect Pixar’s wishes.
First, the report.
The panel opened with the familiar "Pixar" title on the screen, complete with Luxo jumping on the "I". However, Luxo's light goes out, and Wall-E appears, replaces Luxo's lightbulb and scoots away.
Then Andrew Stanton appeared, talking about Wall-E’s storyline, concept art accompanied his explanation. They also had an animation test of the “human blobs”. The blob humans are… well, blobby, and have a tendancy to fall out of their lounge-chairs.
Afterwards, Ben Burtt, (I think that’s his name…) who did the sound FX for Star Wars, appeared, and gave us a run through of all the robot sounds he made for the main characters. (with animation tests as well). It provided a first look at Eve, M-O and Auto.
Eve resembles an iPod, or… at least, the sleekness of an i-pod. Very sophisticated, and cute as well.
M-O is a cleaning robot, who has to clean and scrub everything it sees. Sort of like the fish from Finding Nemo.
Auto is a Helm-like robot, who runs the huge star-liners that the humans live on.
Then they showed us a clip from the movie.
The clip depicted Wall-E doing his job on earth. It is entirely silent, and when you look back at it, nothing really happened. However, the sound, the expressions that Wall-E has, and the over all story-telling is so gripping, and well written that you are instantly sucked into the world of Wall-E.
My final analysis?
Wall-E, is going to be the best Pixar movie, by far. The scope, and the over all feel of the movie is Pixar… yet… some how, different not in a bad way, but in a very, VERY good way. I can’t explain the feeling I got when I saw the clip from the movie, and the concept art, but… this movie…
It’s…
It’s like 2001: a Space Oddyssy, only, with an actual plot and with characters that you actually care about. (no offence to Kubrick fans, of course
)
over all, this is going to be Pixar’s masterpiece, and just as Mitch was an obsessive fan of Ratatoullie, I’m going to be an obsessive fan of Wall-E.
the highlight of the panel? Someone asked Andrew Stanton if they were going to incorporate real humans like Happy Feet did. Stanton’s answer?
“This movie is going to be nothing like Happy Feet.”
people cheered, and my worries about Wall-E were put to rest. ![]()
Awesome, Googly-Bear. Glad you had a great time! ![]()
That sealed it for me, Googly-Bear. That sealed it for me… I’m going to love this film, and that’s a darn-sealed fact… ![]()
Thank you for the run-down of the panel discussion on WALL-E, Googly-Bear! It sounds as if this production is going to blow people’s socks off, which was expected anyway. My dad never did get to see the panel, so I’m glad you provided us with a summarized overview! ![]()

I love these photos. Thanks for putting them up. ![]()
Googly-Bear - Cool. It’s kinda weird to see Andrew Stanton decked out in something other than a Hawaiian t-shirt… Heheh.
Thanks for the pictures, dude! ![]()
^ Ha! it seems like a lot of the Pixar guys like their Hawaii shirts. XD
Googly-Bear - I know, it’s like the only type of clothing they wear! ![]()
Mitch - Yeah, they do wear lots of Hawaiian shirts, don’t they? I guess I know what I’ll be wearing when I work there, eh? ![]()
Bill - Hee hee… Cha, me too! My dad would probably fit right in at the place, as he always wears Hawaiian shirts.
But back on-topic…
