What books have you read/ books you want to read

I’d pay $100 for the “Art of Pixar”

Ha! Me too…

Anybody here like The Series of Unfortunate Events?

I have only seen bits and pieces of it.

I bought The Art of Ratatouille for $40. I was kind of surprised that it cost that much, but I’m not the person in crontrol over that.

Oh my gosh- I LOVE A Series Of Unfortunate Events! I got hooked when we were having one of those ‘indoor recess’ things becuase it was raining. I was bored and had always wondered what the books were like,so I picked up the teacher’s copy of the 1st book and started reading.

And here I am today, one of the biggest fans out there (according to my mother). ;-p

Annoying - O good, I thought that I may have been the only person on here…fans of SOUE unite!

Anyway, I love the whole “grim” theme of the books. The back covers and the many, many times the author tells you to stop reading can be sooooo funny! (Albeit a bit annoying at times!)

What’s your favorite one? I liked The Slippery Slope:smiley:

I got Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows! I wanna start reading right now but I’ll be sucked in and I got to go to the flea market. =P

I do, but I stopped at book number six. I love all of the characters though.

I went to get Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows . Very good so far…

These are the character who have died so far… I don’t know why I’m posting this, none of you will read it anyway.

[spoil]Mad-Eye Moody[/spoil]

Bill: Ha, I read them ^^ Luckily those aren’t spoiled for me, as I’m just up to chapter 7 as it is. Excellent book thus far despite those deaths.

Well, I’m on chapter 14 right now. It’s getting really good…

I’m only on chapter 11 at the moment, but that’s sure to change after today. Maybe it’s just me and I’m too used to the length of the other books I read, but aren’t the chapters pretty long? :open_mouth: Or maybe I’m just slow, lol.

Finished last night at 10:37pm. Loved it.

It’s one of the few books that I can say…“you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, it’ll change your life” and actually mean it. Thank you Joanne Kathleen Rowling.

P.S. I hate the US covers for the book. The British/Aust ones are tons better in my humble opinion which can be worthless.

Just finished about 45 minutes ago. Loved it. I cried a lot, but I loved it.

To make a long story short:

My sister and I attended the final “Potter Party” last Friday/Saturday, only to realize that every single novel had been sold out. However, we did have an enjoyable time eating Burty Bott’s Every Flavor Beans, counting down the seconds until the book was officially released, and sleeping on the moth-eaten carpet.

On Saturday, I snatched a copy of the novel itself in Best Buy before all of the copies were sold out, and I began reading immediately as soon as I arrived at my house and flopped down on my bed laden with a woolen blanket of which could easily be partnered with a bed of poison ivy.

As of tonight, I am a third of the way through chapter seven, but, needless to say, I have to admit that this is my favorite book in the series so far. The way every little detail is cleverly integrated into various nitches, nooks, and cranies is ingenious. I would indulge in another chapter tonight if my brain didn’t feel close to that of lead…

So yeah. 'Tis a marvelous piece of literature, I must say. Or, in the words of Ron, it’s “bloody brilliant”!

You know, I can’t tell you how disappointed I was to hear this when I read it…

While we are on the topic of the famous Harry Potter, I’d like to draw your attention to the following article. It is about how HP and the Deathly Hallows will not make it onto the NYT Bestseller List.

I quote…

I personally think it is outrageous. As someone else said, “It was a kids book when it first came out. The kids who read it then are now ten years older.”. And here is another great comment on Digg.

This also kind of extends into Ratatouille and other animated films being nominated for Best Picture but let’s leave that discussion in that thread and not get off topic (as a I am very guilty of doing).

Children’s book my butt! It’s getting so much darker and darker that I would’ve been scared to read them if I were ten years younger. Besides, adults read them too. Does it actually have a reading level? I thought it was adult, because sometimes I’ve come across a fancy word I wasn’t familiar with at all.

I’m only up to chapter 22 … I think. It’s getting good but I’m still looking out for word of Professor McGonagall. They still haven’t mentioned her. Wth?? @__@

I hate how it’s still considered a children’s book. I would read this last one to my younger children (if I had children). I’ve read tamer Stephen King stories.

But I loved the book. May be my favorite, even if it made me cry.

“After all this time?”
“Always.”

my favorite part.

I finally finished it several days ago, so brilliantly written, but so sad … I forced my little brother to read it for once.

I can not wait to read it. I just got it yesterday after watcing Order of the Pheonix.
