What Did You Notice In The Incredibles?

Yeah, they don’t use daycare. Helen definitely stays at home.

I always thought she just left Jack Jack with one of the people working in the principals office thinking that the meeting with the principal would be short.

(Nice avatar!!! )

Thank you! Shes so pretty I think. :sunglasses:

She is. And so is he!!

  :sunglasses: I think so too.

Couldn’t find another topic to post this, but when I watched the movie again earlier today, I noticed something interesting regarding the whole timeline debate. For a long time, I was certain the movie took place in the modern day with an old-fashioned style, but here’s something that may prove that wrong. During Mr. and Mrs. Incredible’s wedding ceremony, we see some of the terminated Supers sitting in the pews. I definitely saw Stratogale and maybe Thunderhead. After the 15-year time skip, when Bob comes to see Edna and she goes on the whole tangent against capes, she brings up the deaths of both Thunderhead and Stratogale, even stating the exact day and year both incidents occurred. They were around 1957. If they attended Bob and Helen’s wedding, than obviously it took place before 1957, so The Incredibles might take place in 1973.

Am I horribly wrong?

I believe you are correct. The movie is supposed to be set in like the futuristic 1970s place, but the 1970s is the general timeframe fifteen years later after Bob and Helen got married.

Has anybody ever thought of what might happen if something happened to one of the Incredible family? If one of them went missing? How would they cover it up as the Parrs? I ask, because this issue came up in a fanfic that I’m considering writing. Any thoughts?

Well, I always think the “she is sick” xcuse would be passable. however, if that one person is gone for a longer period of time, i actually would have no idea what they would tell the public.

That’s the problem I ran into. Say one of the Incredibles was kidnapped, and held for a long time-- months even-- how would both the Parrs and the Incredibles explain the disappearance of their family member… without raising any eye brows? For instance, it’d be pretty hard to right it off as a coincidence if both Violet Parr and Invisigirl went missing at the same time.

Well, the family could tell the public that Vi is on a “secret mission” and has been in the field for a while. But as for the extended absence pertaining to Violet, I’m sure that if it gets long enough, the family would tell people to help look for her.

I could see “The Incredibles” saying that Violet has gone missing. But my problem is what if people start drawing parallels between the Parrs and the Incredibles? I mean, the Parrs and Incredibles look suspiciously like each other, and the fact that both black-haired, teen-aged daughters have gone missing might arouse some suspicions.

Interesting point. I wonder sometimes what would happen if and when someone makes that connection?

Honestly, I don’t know. Probably some massive government cover-up and memory erasing. But if it were to come out in a newspaper or tabloid or magazine, it would be almost impossible to take back. The NSA would probably just give them a big old, "Crap happens." :-\

On the subject of being kidnapped, though, I think the Parrs would value the life of their family member… even over their identities. They would ask for help, in private and in public.

Okay. Here’s a question for you guys: in Jack-Jack Attack, Syndrome shows up at the Parrs front door, “Is this the Parr’s residence?” How did he know they were the Parrs? I know Mirage could’ve followed Bob home after the fire, but how much information could they have gotten from that? And on Syndrome’s computer, it said they didn’t know where Elastigirl was. Did she just happen to miss Elastigirl at the Parr home if she DID follow Bob there? And how did they find out where he worked?

I donno… maybe she followed him, wrote down the address, and found out what she could… But could she have found out:

-They were the “Parrs”
-Where Bob worked

And not have noticed his wife looks a lot like Elastigirl (especially after she’s been helping Syndrome hunt down heroes for who knows how many years…)

Thoughts?

Well, lets not forget that Syndrome has been doing this for 15 years. Mirage possibly follows each Super, tries to research everything about them, including where they live. If not, remember that Syndrome is a very rich man. i’m sure he has the resources to find out where they live.

Hey TSS, it’s good to see you back!

I think Violet Parr’s issue is why didn’t Syndrome connect the dots with regards to Elastigirl and realise that she and Mr Incredible are married? Mirage could’ve seen Helen with Bob during stakeouts and put two and two together, especially when’s she so good as to know where he works and lives.

TSS- That’s true. She was good at digging for Intel. And if not, money can buy almost anything. But how come Syndrome knew all that and didn’t know who Helen was till they came face-to-face?

TDIT- That’s pretty much my question. If they found out where Bob worked and where he lived, you’d think Mirage would’ve seen Helen at some point and recognized her.

I noticed that The Incredibles had the most mature themes out of all the Pixar films, Syndrome makes several mature refrences during the film. The Incredibles also has a much darker theme and plot to it than the other films.
