What Instrument do you play?

Ditto! If I can find a decent violin teacher around here, that is. And I’m

going to have to repair my grandfather’s violin- it’s about sixty years old now, and I think every string bar

one has snapped.

lizardgirl - Wow – how cool! A sixty year old violin? What I wouldn’t give to

have an antique piece like that… (heheh)

Yeah, all the strings snapped on my toy violin, too. Cheap

thing. (snigger) :stuck_out_tongue:

Mitch - Yeah, we have some pretty dumb piano things…ick! I swear, they cost like

10 cents to make! :unamused:

I wanted to play a guitar. It looks like a cool

instrument.

French horn. I’m also an absolutely terrible singer and

I want to change that.

You can be a good singer if you try Spork. Just like

a musical instrument, the more you practice, the better you will become. All you need to do is get over that

first obstacle.

I have

played a few various instruments over the past 10 years or so.
The first thing I started out on was the Piano

for some years until the late 1990s, and then for about 2 school years I had put myself in a small orchestra

playing the Violin.
And at the latter part of the turn of the century when I entered junior high school, I had

gotten myself into band where I selected to play the Alto Saxophone. Is the

instrument that Ive played for the longest out of all of them, in which I have played it for already for seven

years at most. I still play it, and I may invoke myself into playing it even a little further in college for the

first two years.

I want to buy a drumset of my own for playing as a hobby on my own and learning the more

real basis of it. I love drumming and beats more then what I hear from playing on the saxophone, and I had kind

of blamed myself some years ago about when I chose to go into playing the Sax instead of that of Percussion

:frowning:

Wow, seems like alot of people here play a lot of instruments (which is a good

thing)…

I thought playing the pianno was enough! :stuck_out_tongue:

Na
You be surprised how

many early age people have gone through many, Many instruments through their life before they actually make it to

the career they have always aimed for. Things change for some. So they go through all these instruments to see

which one would suit them best in that time of life.
But meh, I have played Saxophone for 6-7 years and I

still like it very much. But going to a new one, I would very much love to do at the same time

Gasduude: Piano is indeed a very challenging instument to

play. But here is a challenge. Can you play all of the instruments in a school orchestra and sing? Now that is a

complete musician.

DD and TSS – Huh. I guess I just live in a area where playing an Instrument is a big

thing…I mean it’s not uncommon, just not normal to play more than one!

Piano is a challenging

instrument? I thought it was one of the easiest…

Oh definetly not . The clef for the left hand took me a while to figure out . Now I

know the three main clefs , now that I play piano , violin , and viola .

Now the chords , that’s a whole

other story .

Well, I’m not saying Piano isn’t hard, just I thought it was one of the easy

instruments in comparison to the violen or the flute.

glp – (Haha) Yeah,

chords suck!

Violin is one of the easiest in my opinion . The worst part is the E string , but that’s

because it’s very high and can easily squeek ( which is why I switched to viola ) .

My beautiful tenor instument (my voice) can go up to a high A or B. The lowest I can go? Now

that is just a good question.

  • violoncello (well, not anymore. stopped playing several

years before…)

  • guitar (still playing sometimes)
  • flute (well, not anymore)
    …and my voice is

tenor.

i wish i could play saxophone…

It does really depend on what your strengths are.

If you’re a good multitasker, then playing the piano isn’t too difficult, but you rarely ever get to actually

look at your hands and you do sort of have to know where everything is by instinct. But I’d say that anyone can

play the piano with a fair amount of practise. With instruments such as the violin, or brass instruments,

actually creating the note in the first place can be a problem, so I guess that’s the main difference.

I unserstand lizardgirl. Unfourtunately, my hands can

only do things at the same time. THey can’t do two different things at once.

All it takes is practice, how long depends on the person. But when going into the musical field,

piano’s a great way to start, from learning notes to…becoming multi-tasked!

Pixfan - Exactly. That’s why I’m strting with

Piano…
