What would you do if you could meet somebody at Pixar?

If I were to meet someone at pixar, I would probably review my stuff. Figure out what he/she has done so I would know what to talk about.

I am in this situation right now!

The 2008 Minnesota Electronic Theater (MET) is proud to announce
that this year’s guest speaker will be Keith Cormier.
Keith is a Lighting Technical Director at Pixar Animation Studios.
He will describe some of his experiences working
as a Lighter on the feature film WALL-E.

Keith is a graduate of the Minneapolis College
of Art and Design (MCAD), and worked for several years in the
Twin Cities at the animation studio, Lamb & Company.
Prior to working at Pixar Keith worked at Kleiser-Walczak and
Blue Sky. While at Blue Sky he worked on films Ice Age and Robots.
While at PIXAR Keith has contributed to the films Cars,
Ratatouille, and WALL-E.

I get to see him twice in one day this coming Thursday! He’ll be giving a lecture at my school (MCAD) and then I will be attending the Minnesota SIGGRAPH where he is guest speaker! I’m super excited and have a few questions ready for him!

That sounds very excitingl, Hannahmation, especially since you’re not seeing him once, but twice! What sort of questions are you going to ask him? I’d love to hear about it after Thursday.

I’m applying for Pixar’s Undergraduate Program this summer, so I am going ask if he knows much about the program and what it takes to get accepted. I also want to ask him what a typical day is like for him as a lighting technical director. I will definitely be sharing my experience with you all, lizardgirl!

Ah heh, well…I’ve been in that situation, sort of. I actually got to be toured around Pixar by Bob Pauley. I was actually very shy, and nervous (I think it was a bit of a sensory overload for me to be honest!), and needed to coax myself into speaking, but fortunately, he was a very kind guy and seemed to understand my goofy jitteryness xD

Chef_Remy: A tour of Pixar! That’s awesome! You’re so lucky! I would probably be quite shy and nervous myself. What kind of things did you get to see on the tour?

I hope to never meet them if and/or until I get a job there. If I make a fool of myself through email, then yeah, definitely, I’d make a fool of myself in person. :stuck_out_tongue:

That sounds like it was an incredible experience, Chef_Remy! I would’ve been shy too- it must’ve been so strange to walk around in the place where so many masterpieces have been created. Did you get to meet any really ‘important’ people at Pixar?

And welcome to the boards.

My head would explode. I think they should take that as a hint to bring a blast shield if they ever see me.

I would probably shake their hand and say hi or something, I don’t know.

My love of the great Pixarians is endless. I think I’d pretty much plotz on the spot  If I didn’t, I’d probably stutter and say “(Mr/Mrs/Ms Insert Pixarian’s last name here), I am so completely honored to meet you. You have fueled my drive and love of animation, storytelling, and art for almost my entire life. Can I just say I’m one of your biggest fans?” And who knows where I’d go from there? Meeting a Pixarian would be a dream come true! And man alive, if they were asking me about working there or working with them, I would be questioning if it was a dream or not.
Of course, either way, my conversation would likely end with me saying “you rock!” I’ve had the opportunity to meet a few of my favorite singers at concerts and one of my favorite radio personalities and I think I told them all that before I left

My friends work at Pixar so it wouldn’t really affect me.
