What's in a Username?

xD

Sorry, but I lol’d. ‘Boon’ is not my surname. Tang is. Wee Boon Tang. See, from where I come from, many of us have two words in our first name, so, yeah. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ooh, I see! Of course. Well, I love the second part of your first name, WBoon. And your actual surname is pretty cool too. Loving the whole monosyllabic thing.

Oh I see. so it is just your shortened first name! Very intresting!

Still really cool to have one like Wboon.

WBoon - I’m with lizardgirl. Your username is awesome. It reminds me of Toon Boom (the website), which connects to “toon”, which connects to “animation”. Plus, the ‘WB’ in your name says “Warner Bros.” all over it, soo…

Yeah. It’s neat.

Wow, I never expected my name to be so popular… Thanks, everyone. The boys in my class would just mock my name by calling me “Wee Bean” instead, so, you can see where I am coming from when I claim that this is kind of a surprise for me. Thanks again! Your names are great, too!

Here’s what I wrote in the first usernames thread… new and improved!

My username really comes from the 80’s song “Kyrie” by Mr. Mister. Anyway, I was joining a messageboard and I wanted something esoteric, cool-sounding, and had a Christian message, as well as being tied into one of my many interests… I don’t really remember how I got the idea, but I remembered once looking up the words to “Kyrie” and finding out that “Kyrie eleison” - which are the first two words to every line in the chorus - were part of a Catholic liturgy (called, unsurprisingly, “the Kyrie”) and meant “Lord, have mercy” in Greek. Now, I’m not Catholic, but I loved the message, and the song is one of my all-time favorites, so I picked that. And, given that it’s never taken when I join… well, almost everything but Xanga and Myspace, I think it’s pretty esoteric enough. The only problem is when nobody knows how to pronounce it the way I do. Well, that and it’s so long that I’m always having to ask people to call me Kyrie or KE when people type the whole thing out.

I thought you got your name from the Hunchback of Notre Dame opening song. THey say those words about 4 time in the entire song. But it really is a sweet name KE.

Nope. Never even seen Hunchback. 80’s pop rock all the way.

I made directive my name after having been obsessed with Wall-e on opening day and thinking it was really “cute” when EVE speaks the word. I used to say it all the time and my friends all got annoyed, so here I am on Pixar Planet with the name “directive.” At times I wish i could have capitalized it. I suppose for now I am part of the non-capitalization cool crew.
Only for Pixar related forums do I use this moniker. Otherwise, i’m Circasurvivor: a tribute to my favorite band, Circa Survive

I think your name directive is better in all lower case. That is my opinion.

It really annoys me when people don’t use proper grammar in their usernames. It’s a proper noun, please capitalize it! Yeah, i should talk for not capitalizing i when i type.

Not often does it annoy me. Sometimes, there is a reason why people don’t capitalize.

Actually, I think it would look better in all caps, like an old DOS computer command, or like how it would appear on the robot’s display (“DIRECTIVE: Find evidence of plant life”), but that would be shouting…

I think that it depends on the person’s choice of name. I’d always capitilize your name, because that’s how you’d want it written, but if people started capitilizing my name, it would annoy me, because that’s not how it’s spelt.

I love your name, directive. Every time I see it, I think of when EVE says “di…rec…tive?” I actually prefer the all lowercaps.

My username is made up of my real name (which should start with an uppercase) but it’s spelt all lowercase which confuses people, I think. So I’ve been referred to as: Rachelcakes1985, Rachel and rachel. I prefer “Rachel” over anything else, though, but it doesn’t really bother me.

Haha! thanks, well I guess I can only keep it lowercased now, so it’s all good

directive - I also love your username; I find it to be one of the more unique screen names here on Pixar Planet, for some reason. I think that it fits your avatar, too. And, for the record, I like it in lowercase.

Really? Thanks for telling us. I’ll have to remember that…

I guess I can put my past screen names (from other websites) down, just for the heck of it.

foolofatook~ - Council of Elrond website screen name

Woah, look. I found my profile page: foolofatook~

sniff4scabbers - My www.mugglenet.com screen name

Spotted - My www.startrek.com screen name

I’d list two others, but one of them I can’t reveal for personal reasons, and the other is… well… is classified. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mitch - The Star Trek and Harry Potter links direct to the sites’ homepage. But it’s cool seeing your profile on another site other than Pixar Planet, like on the LOTR fansite. Heh.

Rachel - Ohhh, I’m sorry. Would you like me to submit links that direct to the Mugglenet.com’s and the official Star Trek website’s forum board pages? ‘Cause I can do that, if you like. Here ya’ go:

Mugglenet.com Offical Forum Board: cosforums.com/

I won’t link to my profile page, since it contains some personal information, but you guys can look for it if you want.

Star Trek.com Official Forum Board: Star Trek Message Boards

To view my profile page, click on the “Search” button at the top of the page, then select “Member Name” in the “Type of Search” box, type in “Spotted” (without the quotation marks) in the “Search Keywords” box, select “All Open Forums” in the “Forums” box, then, in the “Search From” panel/box, select “The beginning” and then “Older”. Click on the “Search!” option/button, and, hopefully, you’ll be directed to my screen name and profile page. I think…

Ha! I forgot that you could choose your favorite species in the Star Trek universe. Geeks… (snigger)
