Writers Guild of America strike (2007)

Well it time for me to insert my foot in my mouth. Becuase most of the writers for Stargate Atlantis is part of the Writers Guild of Canada. And as wikipedia said:

For me this sucks. I hope they end this strike end soon. Becuase I don’t want my favorite show efected to the point to where they compleaty stop produceing episodes for the series. This also aplies to all the other shows on the air too efected by this strike.

List of shows efected by this strike: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effect_of_ … television

Among the shows on the list are a few that might concern you guys and ladies: Hannah Montana (Writing halted), Cory in the House (Writing halted), Cartoon Network’s, Out of Jimmy’s Head (Writing halted), Family Guy, and The Simpsons.

Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien have recently annouced they will be returning to host The Tonight Show and Late Night without their WGA writers (or just they’re writers in general) . The same applies to Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart and their shows. The strike still continues… I hope negotiations will start up again soon, although I don’t think it will happen at this point in time because of the holiday season.

Oh, I’m getting tired of this really fast now. From what I’ve been hearing, they’re now in negotiations to negotiate. I hope this gets settled before the Academy Awards on February 24th, so the ceremony can actually take place and not end up like the 65th Golden Globes. But you just never know with these things, do you? I’ve been hearing that the ceremony will take place despite the strike, but the actors won’t cross the picket lines.

On a plus side, Lost has started airing new episodes as of January 31st, and since the staff started working on the season last June, they have eight episodes already completed, with eight more that have yet to be filmed, I believe. The season will have a total of 16 episodes, and will finish airing in May.

Me too. Every day that it isn’t resolved, it becomes more likely that the Academy Awards won’t happen. I really want them to go ahead as usual so that Ratatouille and Pixar can get their name read out to everyone, and get the recognition they deserve.

Apparently, the AMPAS are coming up with a “Plan B” in case the negotiations don’t quite work out as expected. You can read more about it by following the link below (from the San Francisco Chronicle):

Alternative to Oscar gala in the works

Nonetheless, I, too, am hoping and praying that the awards will take place in all its glory. The fact that the Golden Globes were cancelled didn’t really have much of an effect (even though it still had a bit of an effect), but the Oscars being cancelled will be a real downer, especially for a big movie fan like me.

So they are all back, but in a related thing (since it was mainly done since none of these shows had writers) did anyone catch the totally hilarious faux-fight/crossover between Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Conan O’Brien over who made Mike Huckabee? OMG, I nearly died, I laughed so much. It was truly the funniest thing I saw in a long time. I watched it online nearly every day since then and even taped a couple of the repeats.
