I very much loved American Girl when I was younger and I still have some of the books that I still read once in awhile, especially the Christmas ones. Samantha & Molly were my favorites, though I read all the books that were out at the time. I have one of the dolls, the Just Like You one, from around the time they were first introduced. I remember between them my cousins had all 6 (back when there were 6)

Cool! Samantha is my favorite. What does your JLY look like (like what color eyes, hair, and hairstyle)? I could tell you which number she is.

I was obsessed with American Girl when I was younger! I always wanted one of the dolls so bad, but I never got one because they were so expensive.

That’s too bad. :frowning: That’s how it was for me too. I always wanted Samantha, and I didn’t get her until I was 17 (2 years ago).

I loved American Girl, but only had interest in the historical dolls. I have Kit and Kaya, and my sisters have Felicity, Kirsten and Addy. We have all the books up until Kaya, too. What do you guys think of the films? I have a boxed set of the first three (Samantha, Molly and Felicity, my favorite) and have seen the Kit movie. I liked it, but disliked the deviations from the book’s plot. I really want to see an Addy or Kaya movie, but it doesn’t look like they’re making any more any time soon.

I loved Molly! I never did own any of the dolls, but I enjoyed several of the books. Cool topic.

I loved the movies. I agree about Kit’s movie being different than the books, but I still liked it. I thought the library lady was hilarious. Have you seen the McKenna movie?

^No, like I said, the modern-day themed dolls never really interested me. No offense to them, they just don’t appeal to me as much. It kinda bugs me that so much attention is being put on them that the historical dolls are pushed by the wayside, and they’re where it all started! I really, really want to see an Addy movie, but I don’t really think its ever going to happen.

Oh yeah, true. I love Addy’s stories, but I think some things in the first book would be scary for kids if it was in a movie.

Have you heard about the new historical doll? Her name is Caroline, and she’s from 1812. She’s coming out in September.

This shows some of her stuff.

^Oooh, really nice! I love her hair and her clothes look very pretty. Plus, the War of 1812 is a pretty important war that gets overlooked a lot. Plus, this could never happen, but it would be really, really cool to have a cameo from a grown-up Felicity…

And it’s the anniversary this year.

I think at the time it was #13. It was the fair skin, brown eyes, and brown hair one. And I think all the hair for the dolls was all the same length then. And it was straight, not curly or anything.

I love Marie-Grace! Do you have her?

ohhhh! I was wondering what time period this one was from! For the life of me I just couldnt find it anywhere

I’m really disappointed about one of the new dolls coming out. We just found out about the upcoming 2013 Girl of the Year, which is a modern character with a couple books and other stuff that is only available for 1 year, and then it changes every year.

For awhile we only knew that her name is Saige, she’s from New Mexico, and she’s interested in horses and art. I was really hoping she would be either Mexican American, Native American, or a mix of both. It would be a perfect opportunity since there is so much culture in NM. But then we got a picture…and she’s white.

She’s pretty, and I know there are plenty of white people in NM, but I’m still disappointed.

I was hoping she would be from 1812. I started reading her series, and I really like it so far.
