Just a general thread about models that were reused in Toy Story (and even extending into Toy Story 2). Pixar’s team creatively reworked many already-made models and gave a fresh new spin on them; most notably with the mutant toys. Here’s a few that I found:
The Pizza Planet Truck is the same model car as the beat-up toy pickup truck seen in Sid’s sandbox (Third Generation Toyota Hilux).
Babyface’s head is Molly’s head re-shaped.
Babyface’s head is seen squashed in the waffle iron in Sid’s room
Hand-in-the-box’s hand is Woody’s hand blown-up and altered, while its spring is Slinky’s spring.
Combat Carls (including Sid’s dirty, broken soldiers) are blown up Green Army Men.
Roller Bob uses Andy’s skateboard (used by Buzz repairing his ship). His hands are also generic Combat Carl hands.
Rockmobile uses a modified Rocky Gibraltar torso, and the action figure has Combat Carl hands.
Jingle Joe has a Combat Carl head.
Janie, Sally, Marie Antoinette, and the rag doll in the sandbox all use the same basic model.
Marie Antoinette’s little sister has the same body shape as Dolly from Andy’s room, while the headless teddy bear at the tea party has the same body as Teddy.
Baby doll arms are seen frequently in Sid’s room (Ducky, Walking Car, alarm clock, waffle iron).
Mr. Spell’s cord is used in the Claw Machine.
Hockey Puck has Mr. Potato Head’s hands (and his boots are based around Rocky’s).
The switch on RC’s remote is the knob on See N Say.
In Toy Story 2, when Woody falls into the trash can in his dream, the pile of disembodied arms includes Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robot arms and Mr./Mrs. Potato Head arms.
That’s right! There’s also Zurg arms and baby doll arms (from Sid’s house).
Also, Jessie’s buttons and belt are the same models as Woody’s, and the Prospector’s bandana uses the same cloth pattern that Woody’s shirt does.
