Woody's Pull-String Phrases

Alright, I’m looking to make a list of Woody’s phrases, and get WAV recordings of them. If anyone wants a link to the any of the phrases I currently have, just ask.

  • “There’s a snake in my boot” - direct rip
  • “Reach for the sky” - direct rip
  • “This town ain’t big enough for the two of us” - direct rip
  • “Somebody’s poisoned the waterhole” - semi-clean rip from film
  • “You’re my favorite deputy” - rough rip from film, with lots of background noise
  • “Yee-Haw! Giddyup, partner, we gotta get this wagon train a’movin’!” - partial rip from film with background noise.
  • “I’d like to join your posse, boys, but first I’m gonna sing a little song” - rip from film with background noise

Other phrase guesses:

  • “Hey howdy hey” - this quote was all over the memorabilia in Al’s apartment.
  • “Ride like the wind, Bullseye” - said in the TV show, and during the play sequence at the beginning of TS3 (how else would Andy have known that was a quote?)

If anyone has Toy Story 3, could you get a rip of the “posse,” “deputy,” and “waterhole” quotes, that would be cool. In addition, any other quotes that are clean (meaning no background noise, music, etc.) are also welcomed.

In the Toy Story 3 video game he says “Wobbly Wagon trains” & “Just doing my job” when you do his Pull-String move, if you won’t those I could easily get them.

Yeah, I don’t have it yet, so that’d be cool. Now, were the rest of the confirmed phrases in the game, too?

Rip “I’d like to join your posse boys but I have to sing a little song” phrase from the “Torture” deleted scene. I believe there’s not a lot of background noise.

I thought that’s the point where the music starts playing, but I’ll try it.

It’s perfect, actually.

Also. “LIAH!”

Just ripped it. Now, I found the Bonnie clip on YouTube, but it’s from a bootleg. :frowning:

So far, it has clear samples of “You’re my favorite deputy,” “there’s a snake in my boot,” and “I’d like to join your posse boys, but first I’m gonna sing a little song.”

Here’s a couple of the direct samples:

I don’t know where these came from, as it’s odd that they’re just isolated sound effects. They might’ve come from an old Toy Story Read-Along tape, but I’m not sure. What’s even odder is that they appear to be filtered differently, more distorted like an actual pull-string doll. What do you guys think?

And my long-term goal here is an experiment to see if an accurate gramophone voice box for Woody can be made. Obviously, the hardest part there is getting these onto a gramophone record.

In a book based on an earlier script, “Draw!” is one phrase.

Sounds recorded from a real doll…
Do you rip by finding the different audio layers in a DVD/Blu-ray? Or are you just recording from a certain part?

No, those phrases were from the same recorded files from the film. They were just isolated and edited slightly differently. Earlier in development, they wanted his voicebox to be more realistic by being more scratchy and distorted.

I’m wondering if you can record the files onto a chip and solder that chip into Woody’s electronic voice box. -Omar

I’m very interested in this. I too would love to have a movie-accurate voicebox for my TSC Woody.

I’ve always had the dream of actually getting these on a vinyl record to make a real pull-string. But the recording process would be around $100, though since this isn’t exactly a full album, I’d expect it to be less.

Dinoco, will you be using those direct samples, or will you use cleaner, less distorted versions of the phrases?

Seeing as there’s better samples out there, I’ll try to rip those, but there’s no telling how it will play. The most important part is getting the speed right.
Here’s an example of what to expect from a real toy.

dinoco, those are some LOUD clips.

I did attempt to rip the phrases from the films a few years ago. Getting 5 of them. feel free to use them. I did edit the equalization to make it sound more like a speaker. I’m thinking of redoing it, since I finally obtain the 5.1 audio tracks from the films. the only phrase that will be a challenge to get clean will be the wagon train phrase.
