Finding Nemo "First Day of School"

I concluded a continueing ED class today at Ringling and the final assignment was anything you want as long as some elements included Adobe Illustrator(the class subject). I chose my favorite scene from Nemo -"First Day of School"
All the various corals and fish were done in Illustrator CS3 then imported into Photoshop CS3, where it was finished.
The original size is 12 X 18 at 300 DPI
Sorry about the watermark but one can't be to careful in the digital age.
Hope you guys like it.
At some point I will be doing the scene where the sharks are gliding through the minefield with the sub in the background.

Thanks bawpcwpn
It took about 2/3 weeks. No special brushes were used(basically because I'm a rookie when it comes to Illustrator, I have not explored that aspect of the program as of yet)

Beautiful compositions, Knick-Knack! I especially favor the first panel -- it's very colorful and lively, and it looks like a lot of work was put into it.
Wonderful artwork! I hope that you receive a high mark/grade.

Really, really beautiful, Knick-Knack! The colours you've used mimic the Finding Nemo style so perfectly. The shapes all flow so beautifully, too.

Wow, that's just beautiful, Knick_Knack. I love how you gave it your own style especially with the seahorses. If I didn't know any better, I'd think it was official concept art.
Well done!!

A113, Star Swordsman, Mitch, Lizardgirl & CGI Clownfish - thanks for the praise, I'm glad you all like it.
As for the grade I got, I believe it would have been an A(everyone in the class loved it), but it was not a class with grades. Basically a class to learn the program or at the very least get familiar with Illustrator CS3. The pen tool is a real pain in the butt.
A real inspiration for the piece was Ralph Eggelston's concept art.
As for the seahorse, it was one of the last things added to the image. I was actually dreading trying to make one, because I really wanted them on the reef but was not sure I could pull it off and I did not want to put a junky looking one in there.
In the end however, It has become one of my favorite critters in the composition.
Here is another piece done for the same class. This was actually the first assignment given. Basically make a black & white image using the pen tool.
I chose Gill.
I took a few liberties with him but you get the gist that it is him.

Those are really neat! I especially like that first one. I also really stylized Sheldon and Gill! They remind me of something but I cant remember what...
