Chapter 1: Decisions

page 1

‘Vi? Could come in here for a minute?’ Helen asked as she opened the door to the studyroom. Violet could already see her dad sitting in a chair by the window with a letter in his hand.
She stepped inside and Hele closed the door.
The studyroom was a large room on the side of the house with a polished wooden floor and large windows that loked out into the garden where Violet could see Dash and Jackjack playing together.
Dash seemed very busy with controlling his little brother who had seemed to have turned into a deep shade of purple and where large bubbles were being blown out of his ears.
Even tough the family knew Jackjack had powers, none of them seemed to have lasted long and sofar his body didn’t seem to be able to make up what superpowers the little kid would be having for the rest of his life.
For a moment Violet giggled about the sight and her mom seemed to have noticed.
‘I am glad we got such a great new house to live in after that jet blew our old one up almost a year ago.
Violet had to agree their new home was lying a little bit outside the city and had was spacious in all ways. Large light rooms with large windows everywhere and Violet liked that in comparison with their old home, where there were little windows to make sure people outside wouldn’t see anything suspicious if any superpowers would be used inside the house.
The garden was enourmous to say at least and on all sides it was blocked out of sight of passing cars by a large hedgerow.
It was a perfect home for a family of superhero’s with childs who were growing up and who were still trying to get a good grasp of everything they know.
‘Vi we want to talk to you about something.’ Her dads voice suddenly seemed to come out of the air, she had been dreaming off again and was suddenly pulled back into reality.
‘Is something wrong?’ Violet asked.
‘If this is about that vase that was broken last week I can explain, Dash was…’
‘No this isn’t about the vase Vi, Dash already apologised for it.’ Helen said.
‘Please come and sit with us because this is something important.’ Bob said as he pionted to a chair against his own.
‘Vi I know the summervacation has just started but there is something we want to talk to you about for when the next schoolyear is starting.’
‘Why what’s wrong?’ Violet asked with a bit of fear in her voice. Last year she was attending at Municiberg South High and even tough she didn’t have a lot of friends there, she liked the place and her grades were good.
‘Oh nothing is wrong, but we just recieved a letter and we want to you think about a offer you are made.’
Helen said as she walked up to Bob’s chair and stood next to it, she took his hand and they both loked at Violet sitting right against them.
‘What offer?’ Vi asked with a bit of suspicion in her voice.
‘You have been offered a scholarship at the W.U.S.H.T.’ Bob said.
‘WUSHT? What is that for a name? It sounds like some odd dissease or something.’ Violet said. In all her life she had never heared of a school called WUSHT.
‘Well, that is because not a lot of people ever have heared about it. It is a school only for supers. W.U.S.H.T. stands for Western United Super Hero Training. It is the same school where your father and I have studied when we were your age.’ Helen said as she looked at Bob with a little smile.
‘We have a lot of good memmorries to that school, it is where we first met.’
‘But enough about us. The thing is, they have a spot open for you and we want you to decide what to do. You can stay at your current school and study there and your mom and I will teach you everything we know about being a superhero. Or you can go to W.U.S.H.T. and learn more about being a super then we can show you.’ Bob said as he handed Violet the letter.
‘Read it and also look at the brochure.’ He said while he pointed at a brochure that was lying on the desk in the corner.
‘Take your time to decide, your application form, if you decide to go off course, must be send in before the last week of the vacation. So that still gives you six weeks to decide about what you want to do.’
Violet stood up and walked out of the room with the letter and borchure in her hand.
She walked to her room and once inside she closed the door and sat on her bed and started to read…

To be continued…

Violet sat on her bed, while flipping trough the brochure.
Another school? AGAIN? All her life she had been on the move, whenever her dad would lose his temper, or would expose himself to the publix again the family had to move once again. She was born in a other city then Municiberg but she was raised here and as far as she knew this was her home city and she wouldn’t want to leave it. But even here she had to endure movements, changing neighbourhoods three times and having to meet new people and attending at new schools.
The school she was attending to now was a great one. She had made a lot of friends this year and she feeling better then ever now.
She stopping flipping trough the pages when she saw the middle page of the brochure. It showed a large two page covering picture of the grounds of the school. A large red brick bluilding dominated the picture and stood in the middle like some old medieval castle that could withstand every siege thrown at it.
Around it were other smaller buildings and in the far right corner a large grassfield could be seen. On the left corner she saw a large appartment tower and she tought it was weird to see a building where people could live in so close to a school where odd things were bound to happen daily when you have a lot of young superheroes together in one place.
She sighed and went on in the brochure. It wasn’t a bad looking school and the whole idea of being in a school with other superheroes intrueged Violet and she was very anxious about the things she would be able to learn there. Her father and mother also had been to that school and they were the two persons she looked up to more then anyone else.
The school had done them a lot of good, but it be the same for her?
Even tough she had found a lot of self consiousness this last year, she still had her quiet and shy moments and when she was in a large croud of people she always kept to the background in the hope no one would notice her.
At the moment she was being thrown back and forth between the idea of staying where she was now and going to that school, that looked very interresting to her.
Learning so much about being a superhero and everything that surrounds it really was something she would like to do. But meeting new people, having to adapt to a totally different way of life and who knows what else she would face her there, well that quite frankly scared her a little bit.
She looked up at her room.
It wasn’t the purely white that almost seemed to be sterile like it was a year ago. There were posters on the wall from famous actors and bands and there was lot more colour in it by now. Her bed stood on a side of the room, with the headside facing the window. In fron of the window a desk stood with a PC on it and a lot of books and teen magazines were piled up on a side of the desk. The floor was covered in a thick and fluffy purple carpet and in a corner stood a very comfortable old armchair (one of the only things they could salvage out of the old house) where she usually sat down to make her homework while her stereo played her favorite music. (loudly whenever her parents were gone and Dash was being annoying around the house, she was glad her roomdoor had a lock on it)
She looked at the little drawer next to her bed. On top of it stood a couple of picture frames, most of them containing pictures of her family. The whole family posing with Dash having his hair tidy for the first time in his life, he didn’t seem happy. The family on vacation to the ranch of her fathers parents, grandpa and grandma Parr always were very friendly and it was the first time she rode a horse. And in the middle of it all a picture of a boy she was very fond of and she would always look at before she shut the lights and went to bed. Tony.
She looked at the picture taken last month and she remembered it very well.
It was the last time she had seen him in real life before he moved away to another city because his dad had gotten a new job at a big company somewhere in Japan.
Thanks to the internet they could keep in touch trough e-mail and sometimes trough a chat when they were both awake but the large time difference made it almost impossible.
They still e-mailed a lot to each other and it was a lot of fun to read about how things were so different in Japan then in the States and sofar things had been fine. But she knew that when time would pass the frquency of e-mails would drop and who knew how long they would keep in touch?
But still she treasured every mail she got from him and hoped it would last for as long as possible.
She sighed and put the brochure away. She still had enough time to think about it and for now there was a lot of free time to be filled with doing something else. She was thinking about getting into the garden to sit in the sun for a bit while reading a book. Then she remembered that Dash and Jackjack were in the garden right now and with the two of them going there wouldn’t be a lot of rest in the garden to read a book.
She remembered the large bubbles comming out of Jackjacks ears and she wondered how it was going with her two smaller brothers right now.

‘Dash! What did happened here?’ Helen asked when she got into the garden and found a very odd looking sight in the middle of the garden. Jackjack was sitting inside something that could be best described as a odd looking glass cage, shaped like an egg and covered in something that looked like pale blue slime. Jackjack was sitting inside the cage laughing loudly while dash was standing next to the cage covered in the same slime he wasn’t looking very happy.
‘I don’t know! Jackjack was blowing some sort of bubbles out of his ears and next thing I knew one of them popped over my head and covered me in this slime, another one broke over his own head but he put up a barrier around him and he has been sitting inside of it ever since looking at me and laughing.’
Helen smiled.’Dash go inside at take a shower, throw your clothes in the bin, I’ll wash them when I got Jackjack out of the cage. Dash took off and she could hear the door slam loudly as he went inside. Dash didn’t like to watch after his little brother and Helen knew that, but still sometimes he just had to because Violet had other things to do and they couldn’t get hold of a babysitter everytime they were called away. Thanks to the NSA they had a new babysitter now and she knew exactly how little superkids who were growing up needed to be handled. Being a retired superhero herself she was quite adapt to entertain Jackjack with telling tales and showing all sorts of illusions that made Jackjack happy.
Dash on the other hand was becomming more of a problem these days. He was started to get into puberty and while that wasn’t a problem time with Violet, Dash was a lot more energetic, outgoing and that had already caused a couple of rows in the house where doors would be slammed and stuff would get broken whenever he was in one of his moods. Helen and Bob took them as good as possible but last week Dash had broken a vase and at first he triend to balme Jackjack for it, but since he had been with Violet all day it was obvious Dash was lying. In the end it resulted in a match of “who could shout loudest” and it ended when Bob picked Dash up, put him in his room and closed the door so hard the whole thing flew out of its hinges and took almost half the wall with it when it fell down.
While Helen walked up to Jackjack he already had removed the glass egg around him and all slime was gone. Dash was sometimes a nuisiance, but the things this little guy could do were really starting to become a problem if he kept going on like this.
Helen was told by someone of the N.S.A. (National Supers Agency, the agency that would help supers in every sort of way)
That most superkids these days were born without any noticable power to begin with. Their body would then at some point unlock the powers within and start searching for a superpower that would suit. Most of them would go trough a very large range of powers going from totally useless and innocent to very dangerous if they would come to full growth. But because they were just toddlers when the first powers would surface they were normally not a problem. Except for that one kid in New York who grew to more then fourty feet tall before the effect wore down. It took the NSA a lot of overtime to cover it all up. In the end the story of a loose macy’s day parade balloon on the loose was released on the news and in the newspapers and people seemed to have forgotten about it soon afterwards.
And that was how every superhero lived. In secrecy, with secret identities and trying to fit in enough to make it look like it was a normal family living next door. With coverup stories being released every time something odd happened.
Those odd sounds you hear in your garden aren’t because their kid DID resemble a labrador hound a bit too much, but because they are playing “wherewolf hunter XVII”
And those flashes of light you saw when you went to bed were definatly NOT from their teenage kid reading a book in bed whilst glowing like mad, but just because the lights in the room are too bright (odd that they have some weird green lights instead of normal light ones, but then again teenagers are weird right?)
Thankfully these days it wasn’t so bad as a couple of years ago.
For more then fifteen years superheroes were banished from existance and every superhero had to fit in to the normal society by keeping their “secret identity” their “only identity” and most supers had trouble fitting in.
When the Omnidroid attacked the city last year the world saw that superheroes were not ment to be banished, they were needed to deal with conflicts the authorities could not cope with themselves.
Altough today’s life still wasn’t like the glory days of superheroism where superheroes would roam the street, looking for people in need and helping them. Life at least was a bit better now that they were called to deal with the big problems of today. A lot of old superheroes of the old days still held grudges against the society and they adopted a new way of life. The life of a supervilain, trying to destroy the world instead of helping it. And every time when one of them surfaced superheroes would be called by the NSA to help them fight them off.
But still, this all was better then the hidden lives they lived not too long ago.
And the secret “normal” identity was needed to keep a vision of normal life and to keep their enemy’s in the dark about their whereabouts and about their family life. It would be a bad scenario if helpless kids would be abducted and used just because their dad was on his way to destroy that evil masterminds volcano located base.
Helen overtought her life and concluded that even tough it was difficult raising growing up supers, their life had gotten at least a bit more normal as a family these days.
“At least alittle bit” she tought as she picked up Jackjack who had gotten fuzzy black hair all over his body by now.

That evening the dinner was more quiet then normal. Bob was sitting on the head as usual, his focus shifting between eating and reading the newspaper (again, as usual).
Violet was shoving her food around her plate, not being able to eat a lot. The idea of perhaps leaving her school was scary, but she found the idea intrueging enough to go to that school. Caught up in that dilemma she was even more silent then she usually was.
Helen was trying to feed Jackjack his food, a more difficult task these days as Jackjack had grown his teeth over the last year and he was now trying to much down his food without properly chewing first. When she was setting the table she saw that Violet had let her hair loose and it covered her face for the biggest part. A sign that she was very uncertain about something and that she would like to close herself off from the world to think about everything in peace and quiet. Helen knew these moods didn’t last long normally, but it wasn’t so great that she fell back into her silent moods every now and then. Especially because the last year she had been much lighter mooded and she connected much more to her classmates.
Dash on the other hand had no time to talk, mostly because he was shoving down whatever his mom put in front of him. His body was rapidly growing these days and it seemed that his clothes just got smaller and smaller even when he was wearing them. His pants were usually too short after two or three months and already he was showing signs of becomming at least as tall as Bob is, “altough he would not become as wide as he is” Helen tought. Dash really had a athlete’s build and he would become a tall man that would break a lot of womans hearts when he would be older. His hair always stood up in a natural wavy form and with his bright blue eyes, his quick smile and even quicker mouth he bore all signs that he would become a popular person in the class.
Last year on valentine’s day he got fourteen cards, one from each girl in his class and that was the first time Dash ever had been so uncertain about something as every girl demanded a kiss from him in the recess. Before he had to undergo this cruel fate he had took off, only to return when the bell rang and he could safely enter the classroom as last person.
When all plates were removed of all the food they were containing Helen took out desert and when she was about to help Dash to his second taking the phone rang.
But it didn’t ring in the normal sence of “ringing” instead it was beeping and glowing faintly red.
‘Vi, you help your brothers finish dinner please and make sure they clean themselves up afterwards, you know where you can find us.’ Helen said as she and Bob got up and walked to the livingroom.
The phone was a signal that there would be a videomessage waiting for them on their mainframe computer.
Bob walked to a bookcase and pulled a book in the upperright corner. Instead of comming out the bookcase started to rumble and it slid down into the floor, revealing a passageway down into a secret basement.
They both went down while the lights above their heads flicked on.
They went down into a large rectangular brightly lit room unlike any other room in the house. It was filled with the most unusual range of stuff you could imaginge. A large computer terminal stood in the middle on a round table with five screen on top of it. At this moment the screen was lit and in the middle a exclamation mark was flickering to show that a important message was waiting. On one side of the room fice glass cilinders stood and inside their supersuits were kept. The bright red suits with the circled yellow I on the chest had their share of action in the last few months, but the ones from Violet, Dash and Jackjack were unused after the incident with the underminer last year. The NSA had decided that only superheroes who where of age (twentyfour years or older) where alowed to undertake missions from that point.
Over the course of the last year a lot of things had changed. The NSA would only call upon supers to help them with things that the authorities could not cope with themselves. And another novelty was that these missions paid a good amount of money when they were executed well. Four months ago Lucius, a good friend of the Parr family and also known as Frozone, a super with the ice powers, went on a mission that paid out one percent of the villians assets. As the villian in question had utter millions on his account Lucius returned with a healthy amount of cash on his account and was financial independant these days. Even tough Bob and Helen were not financial independant, they at least had more money to spend then they had when Bob was still working for a insurance company and Helen was at home looking after the kids and the house.
This way of “pay for work” also meant that most superheroes these days would not have the need to work at underpaid deskjobs and they had to come up with all sorts of ecuses to leave for a while so they could undertake a mission of great urgency. Bob made it clear on a garden party they held when they first moved into this neighbourhood that he was a freelancing journalist, what was a great excuse for his time away from the house, but it also made clear that because he was a freelancer he would be a lot at home to do his “work”. Everyone who listened agreed that freelancing would be a great way to be at home more to be with the kids and everyone quickly went on to talk about every things while they enjoyed some great grilling done by Bob on their new barbeque.
Bob and Helen both sat down behind their own monitor and clicked on the exclamation mark on the screen.
A video message started to play.

‘Jackjack hold still!’ Violet said as she tried to put the unwilling little brother into his pyjama’s.
‘I don’t want to!’ Dash said as he came walking into Jackjack’s room with his clothes still on. After the dinner Violet had cleaned up the table while Jackjack and Dash went into the living room to watch the television. When everything was cleaned She ordered Dash to go upstairs to wash himself and to put on his pyjama’s in the meantime she would put Jackjack to bed.
But Dash was in one of his bad moods again because he wasn’t allowed to join his parents. While Violet perfectly understand why they wer enot allowed to join their parents, Dash still had problems with it. He wanted to help them and to be part of the action. The adventure on Nomanisan let him crave for more and ever since those days he always tried to sneak out whenever his parents were out on a mission.
Off course this wasn’t a bad attitude, wanting to help the people and risking dangerous situations while doing so was a very unselfless act. But the fact remained that he was still a thirteen year old boy who could come face to face with perils greater then he could ever imagine and in cases like that he could be more of a liability then when he would stay at home.
While she was changing Jackjack’s clothes (who was very quiet and kept quite still for a change) her thoughts began to drift again towards that school for supers. She wondered if that school with really teach her everything she would need to know about being a superhero and that it would prepare her for every type of challenge she could face in the future.
“stupid rules, not allowing me to go. I’ll show them when Violet thinks I am asleep I’ll sneak out and show them what I can do.”
‘What did you say?’ Violet said as she turned around and looked at Dash.
‘You will not sneak out to help mom and dad! You know this can be dangerous!’ Violet said.
‘I didn’t say anything! Jeez, you are such a know-it-all!’ Dash yelled back as he ran out and slammed the door shut.
“No matter what, I will still go! Violet can never keep an eye on me all night.” Violet looked up. Dash wasn’t in the room, yet she still heared him as if she was standing right next to him.
“he must be yelling to himself in his bedroom.” She thought while she picked up Jackjack who had fallen asleep by now.
She tucked him in and closed the door when she went out of the room. Then she turned the reciever of the babyphone on and she could very quietly hear her little brother breathe deeply while he was vast asleep.
In the basement Helen and Bob just finished listening to the videomessage and they were standing ready in their superhero outfits now.
They were going to be send out to a secret militairy base deep inside a mountain in the desert on the other side of the country where an old enemy of Bob had turned up to steal some new high tech explosives.
As this was a mission outside the city they would be picked up by an NSA transport and they would be flown to their mission. Normally they would take the Incredibile, a new version of Bob’s old car (that was also destroyed last year together with the rest of the house) filled with high tech equipment and gadgets.
‘Do you think the kids will be ok?’ Helen asked Bob while they waited for the large door on one side of the basement lair to open.
‘Off course they will be. Violet is well capable of handling her two little brothers.’ Bob said and he took her hand.
The door slid open and a long dark tunnel could be seen. Cold damp air came out of the tunnel and in the distance a small light could be seen that rapidly became bigger.
It wasn’t long before the two induvidual headlights could be seen of the little orb shaped pod on rails that would take them outside the city where they could safely enter a plane without anyone seeing them.
A pair of tracks came sliding into the room, allowing the pod to enter the room and it came to a halt there.
When the pod stopped a door on the side open and Helen and Bob walked inside. Normally there was no one inside, as the pod automaticly rode up and down the tracks whenever a button was pressed, but this time there was someone else inside.
‘Frozone!’ Bob said and he reached over and shook his best friend’s hand.
Lucius Best, best friend of Bob and Helen was also a superhero that had the ability of creating and controlling ice. He had been on numerous missions together with Bob ever since they became friends on their school.
‘I didn’t know you would come on this mission.’ Bob said as he sat down.
‘Neither did I, the NSA just informed me that a taxi was waiting to take me to a mission. I changed into my outfit, went into the cab and before I knew it the cab sank down into the ground and I had to enter this pod and I took off to your place. I have no idea what I whould be doing to be honest.’ And while he finished his sentence a screen in the pod flicked on a a NSA operative could be seen on screen.
‘Good evening Frozone, Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible. I am Mary and I will be your homebase contact for tonight’s mission.’
A older woman with her hair put in a tight bun said to them.
‘Good evening Mary, it’s good to see you again, how is your grandson?’ Helen asked her, Mary had been their homebase contact for may mission in the last year.
‘He is doing great, altough he is driving my son and his wife up the walls with the constant lasers shooting out of his eyes.’ She said with a smile.
While they talked about Mary’s grandson Helen was thingking about her own kids, and if they would be safely in bed by now.
Violet was inside Dash’ room by now. He was in his bed pretending to be asleep with the bedsheets pulled up all the way over his head, Violet picked up a chair and put in in front of the window and sat down.
‘Are you going to sit there all night?’ She heared Dash’ muffled voice comming from under the bedsheets.
‘If that would make you not go outside and do idiotic things when you are not supposed to yes.’ Violet said while she kept looking at Dash.
Dash knew that she could put up a forcefield around him faster then it would take for him to run outside and he admitted defeat.
For now.

The night slowly went into morning and the sky was already a beautiful shade of pink when the sun was about to to show up at the horizon. The suburb where the Parr house was located in was still in the dark and only the streetlights gave the whole area a earie orange glow. All houses were totally left without any light, a lonely light at the front door was the only way of letting people know that there was a entrance to the house. All houses were dark, all except one at the very edge of the neighbourhood.
That one single building, it’s garden surrounded by high hedgerows still had all lights on.
If there would be any people awake at this hour of the night they would notice it and if these people would be awake at more times then just this once they would also have noticed that the lights were on pretty frequent over the course of last year since that new family had moved in.
But since this was a neighbourhood where people lived who all worked hard during the daytime and where everyone had to wake up at six A.M. to be in their cars at seven thirty, so they could que like all other commuters in the usual traffic jams every morning, no one was awake to notice any lights burning in the house.
On the south east corner of the house was Dash’ room and inside Dash was asleep.
The frequent rising and falling of his chest and the soft snoring noise would let Violet know he was asleep.
But she couldn’t notice it herself, as she was also vast asleep in the chair that she had put in front of the window last night.
The babyphone was still silent, Jackjack always had been a steady sleeper, unlike his older brother as their mom would remark now and then when Jackjack had fallen asleep while Dash was still (almost literally) bouncing up and down the walls.
And even as they were asleep, all three of them had total confidence that their parents would come home later that day when all was well and a new kind of disaster had been prevented.

A thousand miles on the other side of the country Bob, Helen and Lucius we standing in front of the military base weighing their options.
‘So we know Bomb Voyage is somewhere inside to steal the new ‘XKI-32 mark II bomb’ for reasons only he knows. The question is, how do we locate him and how can we prevent him from using the bomb?’ Helen said as she looked trough a pair of nightvision binoculars into the base ahead.
The whole base was surrounding the single mountain that stood lonely in the desert. Inside the mountain the most secret of all militaire prototypes were created and the whole area surrounding the base was closed for civilians, due to a lot of testing of new supersecret weapons.
But now most soldiers that defended the base were captured and were put into custody in a hangar on the side of the base. A couple of Bomb Voyage’s hencemen were guarding it.
All of the henchmen were clothed in the same ‘mime’ type of suit and it would all have looked very funny, if the big machineguns they were carrying didn’t look so serious.
Bomb Voyage himself had not been spotted sofar, but knowing him he would be inside the base trying to get his hands on as much stuff that would go “boom” as he could in a short period of time.
‘Any plans of going in unnoticed?’ Helen asked while she looked over her shoulder to her husband and friend.
‘Don’t look at me hun, you were always the one who knew how to enter a base without getting noticed. I usually knock down a wall to get in remember?’ Bob said with a faint smile.
‘Yes dear thats true, but if we go around knocking down walls here they might set up a few surprises for us inside while we are busy knocking out hencemen before we can enter.’
‘Perhaps a diversion?’ Lucius thought out loud.
‘Like?’ Helen asked while her brain was quickly going trough all sorts of options how to enter the base stealthly.
‘Well Bob and I can cause a diversion on one side of the base, keep all men busy for a while there, while you enter the mountainsite and stop Bomb Voyage. When we are done with the men we will come after you to help.’ Lucius said.
Helen thought a moment about the plan, didn’t see any real flaws and decided that acting now was a better option then waiting longer and let Bomb Voyage have all advantages on them.
‘Right lets go. I think it is best if you two cause as much havoc as you can on the far side of the base, also far away from the prisoners becuase we don’t want them caught up inside crossfire or any accidents of any sort. I will enter the base from the side of the prisoners, try to set them free and then proceed into the base.’ Helean said as she got up and started running to the base. The night was still dark, but it wouldn’t be long before the sun would rise and Helen wanted to use the advantage of the night to be as difficult to see as possible.
Bob and Lucius went off to the other side of the base.
Inside the base none of the Henchmen had any idea of the things that were about to happen.

( like it? post you thoughts here )

Page 7

Bob and Lucius were sneaking towards the base, using the last bit of nightfall to cover them. On the way to the base, bob did a couple of stretches to relax his muscles, a loud crack could be heared when he stretched his arms over his head.
‘You recon we will have any problems once we are inside?’ Bob asked Lucius.
‘Nah man, they are totally not expecting us, it will be like taking candy from a baby is you ask me.’
‘Yeah a really big candy from a really big baby.’ Bob said with a grin as they reached the entrance gates.
‘Do you want to ring the doorbell or should I?’
‘You’d better ring it, you alwats had a feeling for dramatic entrances.’ Lucius said.
Bob put his hands around the iron bars of the gate and braced himself firmly my putting his feet wide on the ground.
With a loud clanging noise the whole gate was pulled out of its hinges and Bob threw it away like it was a empty can.
‘After you sir.’
The noise this all made alerted the guards and within seconds the alarmbells rang and they could hear hurried footsteps comming their way.
‘It’s showtime.’ Bob said when he positioned himself in the middle of the square that was behind the gates.

Helen heared the noise from the other side of the base and quily stretched herself over the high wall that surrounded the base.
Once inside she saw that she had a problem, there were security camera’s all around the perimiter and she would surely be noticed if she would continue.
‘Uhm, Mary?’ Helen asked. All supers these days had a little earpice in that allowed them to keep contact with headquarters.
‘Yes Helen?’ She heared in her right ear after a few seconds. The communication always had a little bit of lag because all transmission had to be encoded before they were sent trough the air.
‘You don’t happen to have a map of the base where I could see all camera positions do you?’
‘I am checking the mainframe now, please wait.’
Helen knew that if she could find something, Mary would immidiatly send the image to Helen onto their little PDA they had on their belt.
The PDA was their way to communicate with each other and with the headquarters trough a encrypted network, it had a touchscreen and network capabilities to allow them to download information off computers.
‘I found a plan and am inserting the sercurity cameras’ positions with a vield of view overlay right now.’ Mary said. A field of view overlay was a good way to see what area the cameras were actually seeing, it was shown by a cone shaped picture that started with the point at every camera and then widened out into the distance.
A few seconds later the PDA gave a little beep and Hele looked at the map.
A lot of cameras were around the base and getting inside without being noticed would be a tricky job, but Hele saw some gaps here and there and with a lot of flexible moving she should be able to pass unnoticed. In the distance a explosion shook the whole base.

‘Did you have to throw that tank into the fuel depot?!’ Lucius yelled to Bob as they both were flung onto the ground by the blast of the explosion. While Lucius and Bob had found themselves quickly surrounded after Bob had torn down the gate, they had no problem with overpowering the guards. That was untill a couple of them had commandeered a tank and started driving towards them while firing high explosives at them at a very alarmingly rate. Bob decided it would be best to take the tank out as soon as possible and with a tremendous effort he lifted the whole thing up and threw it away. Unfortunatly, he didn’t see where exactly he was throwing it and the tank smashed into a fuel depot, sending the whole thing sky high.
‘I didn’t mean to do it! How was I supposed to know the whole depot would blow when it got hit by someting?’ Bob asked Lucius while he picked up two guards and smacked their heads against each other, knocking them both out cold.
‘Things tend to blow up when they get hit by a TANK! Especially something as highly explosive as a FUEL DEPOT!’ While lucius was bickering about with Bob he send out a couple of icebolts towards an group of guards and they all were blown backwards by the impact of the huge shards of ice hitting them all over their body.
‘BOB!’ Lucius yelled as a new group came running around a corner and spreading out on the courtyard.
‘I’ve seen them!’ Bob yelled as he jumped towards them.
In a movement that went faster then anyone could ever see he grabbed a flagpole that stood on the courtyard, broke it off and flung it at the guards. The flagpole hit them all on the chest and they all got knocked back against a barrack where they all slid onto the ground, all knocked out cold.
Bob and Lucius went on deeper inside the base.

Meanwhile, Helen was flexing, streching, shrinking and moving in all other sorts of ways to get into the base unnoticed. She had just rounded a corner when a guard had snuck up behind her.

Violet was having uneasy dreams, she could see her mom moving around in a place that could only described as a military base and she had just seen her go around a corner when she saw someone with a machinegun creeping up behind her.
”Mom look out!” Violet almost screamed in her sleep.

( like it? post you thoughts here )

Mom look out!
Without hesitation Helen ducked away and heared a loud THUD where the butt of a machigun hit the wall. In a reflex Helen arched over backwards and her fist shot away onto the jaw of the guard who was about to hit her. Unconsious he fell down against the wall.
‘Vi? Are you around here?’ Helen asked while she looked around. No one was there and for a second Helen thought she would see Violet appear somewhere. But not a thing happened while Helen kept looking around. She reacher for her earpiece and pressed the button to talk.
‘Mary can you confirm that my daughter is still inside the house?’ Helen asked.
‘Let me see.’ Mary replied from the other side of the line. Helen heared some buttons being pressed on a computer keyboard and soon Mary spoke again.
‘all your kids are still at home, Jackjack is asleep it seems in his own room and Dash and Violet are inside Dash’ room. Is everything okay?’
‘Yes everything is fine Mary, I just wanted to make sure our kids were fine too.’ Helen said with a relieved voice.
‘Bob and Lucius made it to the mountain entrance, do you want them to go inside or do they have to wait for you?’
‘Let them go inside and handle Bomb voyage, I’ll go for the imprisoned guards and free them.’ Helen said while she headed towards the barack holding the militairy guards.

‘Helen said she would go and set the prisoners free, you could go ahead and stop Voyage.’ Mary said to Lucius and Bob.
‘Right, lets go then.’ Bob replied and he went towards the heavy blastdoors sealing off the inside of the mountain.
‘What do they keep hidden inside of that thing? Godzilla?’ Lucius asked himself out loud when he looked at the doors.
It wasn’t exaggerating The doors stood over twenty feet tall and fourty feet wide and were made out of thick solid steel.
‘Well, you were the one who liked to ring the doorbell Bob, so it’s all up to you here.’ Lucius said as he made a little bow towards Bob.
‘Go for it big guy.’
Bob ran towards the doors and slammed his fists into it as hard as he could and a huge dent was left into the left door. Bog kept slamming and punching the door and soon the whole thing started to buldge and fold into itself leaving a large enough space open at the bottom for Bob and Lucius to get trough.
They entered the brightly lit corridor leading down into the mountain.

It seemed Dash had admitted his defeat over his sister when he was eating his breakfast in front of the television. violet was upstairs giving Jackjack a bath and his laughter could be heared troughout the house. Jackjack always liked it when Violet played “peek-a-boo” with him. she would put her hands in front of her face, make her head invisible and the shout ‘PEEK-A-BOO!’ To Jackjack as she made her head re-appear. Jackjack usually responded to it by laughing loudly and splashing water around.
Violet was a bit stiff this morning as she had slept on the chair all night, instead of going to her own room to sleep when she had made sure Dash was well asleep.
She had no more dreams about her parents in the militairy base and had a good, altough a bit cramped bacause of the chair she was sleeping in, dreamless sleep for the rest of the night.
‘VI! WE’RE OUT OF HONEYHEROESFLAKES!’ Dash’ voice soared trough the house.
'‘Then get some out of the basement!’ vi replied while she was giving Jackjack a bubblebeard. Jackjack in the meantime was trying to put as much bubbles into Vi’s long hair.
Violet felt that her brother would be helples without her, and she wondered how things would go if she would go to that superhero school far away from her family. Whow ould watch over her little brothers when her parents would be away on a mission? Then again, she was sure the NSA would take care of that issue. they always had been a reliable company for all supers to turn to when they needed help. Downstairs she could hear the basement door slam as Dash went back into the livingroom with a new box of cornflakes.
Violet started drying Jackjack as her thoughts started to wander off again towards her parents, she hoped everything was fine…

WARNING

In this capter the enemy of the story will be introduced. because he is a mindcontrolling entity he has done things that could be described as a bit “detailled” on some points. I’ve written them down to make a very clear distinction between Bomb Voyage’s normal doing and the things he did when he was controlled. If You don’t want to read about this, please scroll down to the next post when its up Bob will give explanation to his commander there without the details.

WARNING

It wasn’t long before bob and Lucious traded the cold outside air for the damp one in the corridor they were walking in for quite some time now.
The corridor was caved out of the moutain’s solid rock foundation and slowly spiraled down deeper into the ground. Sofar there were no sideways to be found so Bob and Lucious had no other way to go then to follow the brightly lit path.
Every few yards there was a bright white light embadded in the cailing and because the whole hallway was white they both had the feeling to be walking inside some sort of totally sterile alien vessel of some sort.
That was, untill they walked into a gruesome scene.
Bob and Lucious both were quite familiar with Bomb Voayage’s style of work, but this time it seemed he had stepped up on the antics and went for a totally new approach.
Normally he did anything he could to keep physical harm at a minimum. He worked with a strict code of ‘evil is art’ and always captured his enemies in stead of killing them. The explosions he used were mostly for blowing a path to his goal or to knock people out, not to kill.
But this time he did just that.
It seemed the hallway down only led to a large sub terrain basement of epic proportions where all sorts of stuff was being stored. It was here that Bomb voyage started drifting off his normal path.
The while floor was covered with blood everywhere and pieces of what once would be called human.
Crates all around were also covered in human remains and the whole sight made bob an dLucious just sick. In the distance they could hear a explosion, some maniacally laughter and another explosion, followed by more laughter. Bob and Lucious ran foreward prepared for anything they would find on their way.
When they were a bit further they both stopped again as they found out that Bomb Voyage did not only kill the guards stationed here but also his own henchmen as they now also found blown up bodies dressed in mime-suits.
Another explosion caused them to both pick up their pace and ran further towards the sound of the explosion. They quickly left the maze that was created by all the stacked crates and found themselves passing trough several huge blast doors, closing off one empty space after another.
After passing trough six of those gigantic doors they entered the last room.
In the middle a blown up metal crate was all that could be found and behind it against the wall Bomb Voyage was sitting on his knees staring at some point far away. Every once in a while he would pick a explosive out of his bag and throw it away, only to laugh when it exploded.
Bob rushed towards him, expecting just about anything, but Bomb Voyage didn’t seem to notice him. He just kept staring into nothingness.
When he reached in his bag for another explosive, Bob came to a halt next to him and grabbed his arms in a tight grip that resembled something of a bench-screw and this seemed to snap Bomb Voyage out of his state of hypnosy.
It seemed that Bomb Voyage had been trough a lot because he looked nothing like he normally did. His white mime paint on his face was all worn out and his hair seemed to be combed with one of his own bombs. Around his eyes were large dark areas that gave the impression that he didn’t have any good nights rest for quite a few days now and his whole suit was torn at various places. He looked like a old worn out mime player who had been drinking heavily while sleeping under a bridge for quite some time now.
Bomb Voyage looked at Bob and started crying.
‘Don’t let him get close to me! DON’T LET HIM GET CLOSE TO ME!’ He said with a paniced voice with tears pouring out of his eyes he swiftly began turning his head left and right to look around.
Startled by that responce Bob also began looking around. In meanwhile Lucious also reached Bob and Bomb Voyage and asked to no one in particular.
‘Who? Who can’t we let close to you?’ While he also looked around.
‘I have no idea who he is talking about but I can’t find anyone here.’ Bob said while he looked at the crying mime.
‘dontlethimgetclosetomedontlethimgetclosetomedontlethimge…’
Lucious smacked him in the face and Bomb Voyage looked up while he stopped crying.
‘WHO?! Who can’t we let close to you?’
To Bob’s and Lucious’ surprise he had a terrified look on his face.
‘The shadow, don’t let the shadow get to me again!’
‘I say the guy has been hit in the head by flying debris from one of his own explosions one to many times. Lets get him out of here and hand him to the authority. Seeing what he did here, I think they will some questions for him before they lock him up for good.’ Bob said while he started dragging Bomb Voyage with him towards the doors.
Lucious looked around the room for one more time before he headed back too.
‘There isn’t any shadow in this whole room, why would he be afraid from it?’ He asked Bob.
‘No idea perhaps he has just gone mental, who knows what keeps him ticking these days.’
While he was being dragged away by Bob, bomb Voyage started mumbling again.
‘dontlethimgetclosetomedontlethimgetclosetomedontlethimgetclosetome.’

High behove their heads a dark crature was following their movements when it looked trough an airvent in the ceiling…

To be continued…

We’ve walked together down this winding road,
In search of something true. Together we grew.

Violet sat quietly behind her desk staring at her computer monitor.
The speakers of her hi-fi set were almost falling of their stands as she was listening to her music very loudly again.
something she was able to do right now, as grandpa and ma Parr had came by to pick up Dash and Jackjack an hour ago. They were called upon by the NSA because Helen and bob would take a bit longer then planned as some “unforseen circumstances” had come up on their mission and they were investigating it right now.
Violet was glad her two younger brothers would leave for the rest of the weekend, it would give her some quiet time alone where she could do whatever she wanted.
But before she would go and do that she had to check her e-mail first, Tony had said he would send an mail that morning and she was eagerly waiting for it, hoping for something to make her happy again.

But now our journey has come to an end,
And it’s on to something new. For me and you.

Instead of that she got the direct opposite.
In a lengthy mail he was telling her that his father had gotten an promotion at his new company and that they would stay permanently on the other side of the world.
He was telling about his new school and all the new people he had met there.
And then he told about a girl in his class. He didn’t tell a lot about her , but violet knew enough.
She had read trough the rest of the mail, where he said some kind words bout the great time they had together and he wished her the best and hoped that they would keep in touch trough the internet.
After she was done reading the email Violet had picked up the remote control for the stereo, picked the right cd from the multi disc drive and put one song on repeat.

So goodbye, my friend.
Until we meet again,
Some other day.
I know so much will change.
But looking back I can say,
I wouldn’t change a day.
I hope you can say, I hope you can say
The same.

Then she just sat behind her desk with the tears falling down on her math homework for monday.

So many memories, we got to make,
And the challenges we met. I’ll never forget.

It wasn’t that she didn’t expect this to happen tough. Already in his last few Emails Tony had been talking a lot about the people he met and how great the place was and how everyone seemed to like him.
She knew that whatever she had with Tony wouldn’t last for long when there was such a distance between them.
But still…

'cause those lessons made us who we are today,
Now we’re taking the next step. Without a regret.
No regret.

It just felt like a kick in the face to see it written down so bluntly in an E-mail.
It took Violet a while to stop crying, all the while the muic in the background kept playing.

So goodbye, my friend.
Until we meet again,
Some other day.
I know so much will change.
But looking back I can say,
I wouldn’t change a day.
I hope you can say, I hope you can say
I hope you can say,
The same.

Violet finally got up from her chair and walked to the little desk that stood next to her headrest and picked up the photo that stood on it.
She turned around and chucked in into the garbage bin that stood next to her desk.
The sound of breaking glass couldn’t even be heared above the loud music.

All I’m telling you (All I’m telling you)
When I get to the end
I would do it again
Do it again
All I’m telling you (All I’m telling you)
When I get to the end
I would do it again
Do it again

She jumped onto her bed and buried her face deep into her pillow.

So goodbye, my friend.
Until we meet again,
Some other day.
I know so much will change.
But looking back I can say,
I wouldn’t change a day.
I hope you can say, I hope you can say
I hope you can say,
That you understand,

She was unerstanding it quite well, the only person that ever cared for her and gave her attention when she was still strugling with herself had just left her
The only life we have,
Is here and now,

“Here and now” had turned into “there and gone.”
She turned around and stared at the ceiling.

Not up in the clouds.
With every breath we can say,
It is a brand new day.
I know I can say,
I know I can say!
I know I can say,
The same!

She now knew for sure, it was time to change her life for good.
It was time to go to a new school and meet new people too.
People like her…

( like it? post you thoughts here also a link to be found to the song that Violet is listening to.)

‘Aaron! have you started packing up yet?’
‘I am about to!’ Aaron yelled back to his mother who was busy packing up the living room.
Aaron looked around his room and sighed.
The whole room was a mess and was filled with stuff. Packing it would take a lot of time and it was time that Aaron didn’t want to spend on packing anyway.
He hated moving to a new city as it was something that he had done for many times in the past.
Aaron’s parents as well as Aaron himself were supers and this caused a lot of problems in the past when the superhero ban was in place.
Four times their cover was blown and they had to move away from their residence.
They had been living at their current home for a couple of years and Aaron liked it in New York.
He had met some really great people and made some friends.
He also was playing in a band with some of them and knowing that he would move away to the other side of the country made him sad because he knew that he would leave his friends and his greatest hobby.
Sure he could join a other band in Metrovill, but it just wouldn’t be the same.
Aaron picked up a drumstick and gave a hit on a crash cymbal, immidiatly followed by his mother.
‘Aaron don’t play your drums but pack them! The truck will be here tomorrow and we aren’t even anywahere close to being ready to go!’
Still angry Aaron threw the stick away and walked to his bed. While he walked over he took a look at himself in the mirror.
A angry sixteen year old boy looked back at him with bright green eyes.
His black hair stood all sorts of ways in short spikes.
Over the past few months he had started to shave and he had left a short goatee on his chin because it looked good on him.
Now that he was sixteen he was becomming less and less the lanky tall guy that everyone picked at at school and more the man he was going to be. He went to the gym three times a week and slowly he was building up more body mass and muscle. A small sixpack was starting to show on his stomach and Aaron smiled.
“If the kids in high school would see me now, they would never think I am the same person of three years ago.” Aaron thought while he walked on.
His bedroom door opened and his mother walked in.
‘Aaron you really need to start gathering your stuff or you won’t have enough time before tomorrow.’ She said while she put a pile of clean clothes on top of another one that she had put there yesterday.
Aaron shrugged and looked at his mother who started gathering the last of the dirty laundry that was lying around the room.
‘I know you hate to move, but we had a great offer to work in Metroville and help the other supers there. You also have talked a lot with the people of the N.S.A. and you know why it is important to move.’ She said while she dug up a pair of dirty socks from underneath his bed. Aaron just grunted that he had heared her and she went on.
‘You know that during the ban of the superheroes a lot of supers in Metroville were lost and the city is in dire need of more help. Because there are enough of us left on the eastcoast your father and I have agreed to move to the west.’ She looked one last time in all corners to see if she had missed any laundry.
‘Besides we also had the idea that you could learn a lot at your new school there. Don’t you think it will be great to go to a school with other kids like you?’
Aaron sighed.
‘To be honest mom I would rather just stay here with my friends and continue at my school. Things were okay the last two years since I started to stand up for myself.’
‘I know honey, but we think that it would be best for you to go to that school and learn more about your powers and responsabilities.’
‘I guess, dunno really.’ Aaron said while his mother walked to the door.
‘Just give it a try, if it doesn’t work out you can always go and do something else.’
Aaron turned over in his bed, that new school was probably filled with stuck up kids who thought they were so much better then anyone else.
He hated his school already.

( like it? post you thoughts here also pictures of Aaron, his mother and his father.)

Little note*
Ok, I have been trying all sorts of ways to continue the story, but I found that having multiple storylines running trough each other is kinda difficult, so ii’m gonna cut down the story about the mysterious shadow and focus on the school instead. perhaps ill set that particular storey on some other time.

Anyway, lets go on…

A day later Bob and Helen got back home after they had been debriefed at the NSA base. They both received their pay (minus deductions for certain damages to the militairy base) and Bomb Voyage had been taken away to a mental institute after he had been checked by several doctors. He kept mumbling about the “shadow” and so far no progress had been made by finding out what that shadow was. When they got home Violet had told them that she wanted to go to the school and that she had already filled in the sign up form and Bob and Helen only needed to add their signatures.
Dash and JackJack came home later that day and the whole family enjoyed a quiet summer vacatoin (the occasional chaos that came from Jackjack even seemed to have calmed down)
Not long after Violet signed up for the school for supers she received a package containing books for the lessons, some info material and a rulebook. She had been reading trough the books now and then and had been looking foreward to going to the actual lessons.
During the summer Bob and Helen met with John and Rose Vicci, who both had been assigned to help with any missions and who had just moved into Metroville. They also found out that Rose and John had a son who was also going to W.U.S.H.T.
By the end of the vacation Violet was packing her stuff and almost every day trips to the mall were made because clothes had to be bought, all sorts of material was needed for the lessons and all sorts of other random stuff that could be usefull.
Violet didn’t know how she would handle when she found out that she had a own room in the dormitory building adjecent to the school and she would have to do her own cooking and cleaning for the time she was attending at the school. All the days she had been at home with Jackjack and Dash really gave her a good preparation for this as she already knew how to cook and keep everything in the house clean.
Still, for a few days she could handle herself, but how would things go when she had to take care of herself for almost a year?
Her computer was already packed in boxes and stood together with the stereo and her new television (that was given to her by her parents) in the hallway.
Violet looked around her half empty room and looked at the walls where all posters had been taken down as she wanted to take them with her.
A big pile of clothes she had grown out of, or that were just too old was filling one corner and the almost empty closet that stood against the wall with its doors open and empty desk gave the room a totally different feel, it felt as if Violet had walked into some else’s room instead of her own.
With every passing day her tension and anxiety grew more and more and the last weekend before the schools would start again she even had trouble sleeping at night. With all boxes and bags already send to the school there was not much to dothat weekend.
Only two more days before she would start a “new life”

( like it? post you thoughts here )

WHen I read this chapter, Harry Potter came into my mind. Anyways, great chapter Vekoma. I see some spelling errors, but other than that, really well done.

Long before her alarm clock would go up Violet lay awake in her bed staring at her ceiling. It had been a long night because she didn’t catch a lot of sleep.
But today she would finally go and all the anticipation that she had building up during the last weeks would come to an end.
She wondered if there would be a lot of other students at the school and if she would meet some nice people. She also kept thinking about the lessons themselves and how they would be. From what she heared from her parents when she asked them about it they seemed to have a good time and a lot of fun at the classes during their stay at the school, but that was a long time ago and the school had to go trough some changes during the course of the years, so things could be different now.
Bored with lying in bed she got up and went to the bathroom to take a shower, she took some clothes out of the closet and opened the door. Surprisingly she noticed that there already was some light burning downstairs and she heared the voices of her father and mother talking to each other while they were in the kitchen.
She put her clothes in the bathroom and walked down.
On the stairs she could already hear her father laughing, quietly she went on.
‘And remember that night when we all went to the lake next to the school?’ Violet heared her father ask her mother.
‘How could I forget? Wasn’t that the night you knocked down a tree to make a toothpick out of it? I still say you were showing off to me.’ Helen answered
‘Only because you would not believe how strong I was, you thought I was bragging.’
‘You were!’ Helen laughed
‘I remember that principal McFlaggin wasn’t too happy with you, didn’t you recieve a week of detention because of that incident?’
‘No that was because he found out that Lucius and I had smuggled some liquor to that party. He didn’t seem to find it as amusing as the students.’ Violet got down and stood in the doorway, she saw her parents sitting at the kitchen table.
‘Well he would have never found out about it if you and Lucius would be in class the next day instead of sleeping. Vi? would you like some breakfast?’ Helen suddenly turned around and looked at Violet who was still standing in the dooropening.
‘Uuh, yeah I would like some.’ she said while she walked into the kitchen.
'What were you two talking about? ’ Violet asked while she pulled a chair form the table and sat down on it. Surprisingly she saw her mother blush a little bit.
‘Oh we were just sitting here and talking about the things we did when we were at “Wush”, we never called it W.U.S.H.T. actually.’ Helen said while she put a frying pan on the stove and went to the fridge to get some eggs and bacon.
‘Seems like those were ome wild years then.’ Violet said while she looked at her father who seemed to be very interrested in his coffee and newspaper all of a sudden and went completely deaf for no appearent reason.
‘Well there were some parties that went out of hand, but those were in out last year of school.’ Helen said.
‘Just make sure we don’t recieve any calls from school about any misbehaviors of you.’ Bob said while he put his newspaper away.
‘I think I’m not like you when you were my age dad, I’m not really the party type anyway. I don’t even know if I will meet any interresting people there.’
‘I remember a certain girl who was just like you when she came to school while I was in my second year. Quiet type, never into parties and such, always studying and with her head in the books. But when I was in my fourth year she had changed quite a bit and was the center of attention of the school. Beautiful girl with long hair and the most stunning eyes I had ever seen, I think most of the boys at school were in love with her. She got married later to some guy who isn’t even working these days, seems to spend most of the days just being at home doing nothing. So you are warned.’ Bob said while he winked at Helen.
‘Don’t worry dad, I’ll behave I promise.’
‘You’d better! I don’t know who the principal at the school is these days, but if he or she is anything like ours then there is a lot waiting for you when you step over the line.’ Bob said with a smile. Helen put a plate in front of Violet with some bread and a couple of eggs on top of it.
‘Mom I always knew dad would be kind of a problem at school when he was young, but I always thought you were a lot like me.’
‘Oh I was just like you when I went to Wush, but then I met him.’ She saig while she sat down next to Bob and took his hand.
'He has been a very bad influence to me back in those days. Helen reached over and kissed Bob.
‘I was the girl he told you about.’ Bob smiled.
‘Yeah and as I said things went completely downhill with the both of them after that, they marriedend got a couple of kids who are more then a handfull to handle and these days, especially the oldest one I heared.’ Bob smiled at Violet.
She turned a little bit red and focussed herself on her breakfast. It warmed her heart to see that her parents were still so much in love with each other after all those years. It seemed the school was good for a lot more then just learning.
This could become a great year.

( like it? post you thoughts here )

‘So it was a lot of fun after the lessons I understand. But what about the lessons themselves? how were they?’ Violet asked while she was working away the breakfast her mother had made her.
‘Oh the lessons were okay I guess.’ Bob said while he scratched his face. It clearly still very early in the morning, as he usually had a clean shave but now there was a light shadow on his face from his beard. Appearantly he wasn’t long awake himself.
‘There are the normal classes you would find on every school. You know, math, english, biology etcetera. But all are a bit more focussed on being a super, you will find out soon enough. Then there were specific classes starting in the third year. Use of weaponry and disarming them, martial arts, controlling your powers, common rules set up by the N.S.A. and more of that type of lessons. Things get pretty hectic from the third year on. Thankfully they plan lessons in such a way to give you enough free time between the lessons so you can do some studies. play some sports or just hang around to relax.’
‘You can play sports?’ Violet asked. She tought the idea of having a group of teenagers with superpowers run wild on a sportfield could be pretty dangerous.
‘Yeah, well no sports you would normally see tough, so no football or baseball for example. But they play a selfmade game called Capture the flag, where two teams play against each other to steal each others flag from their base and bring them back to their own base for a point. First team that reaches three points wins the game. Teams exist of seven players each.
There ware three defenders, usually with powers like yours, forcefields and other defencive powers.
Then you got three attackers and one flag runner, who is usually a very fast runner. If Dash ever goes to WUSH I can imagine him being a great flag runner for the schools team.’ Bob said.
‘Were you also playing that game dad?’ Violet asked him.
‘Well I was a great defender, but sometimes I got a bit carried away and sometimes ended up destoying parts of the arena, so I was also a backup player in more then one occasion.’
‘And you mom? did you play?’ I didn’t play the game, but I was cheerleader for the team from my third year.’ Somehow this surprised Violet, she never really saw her mother to be a cheerleader for a sports team.
‘But enough talk about the school, you will find out everything soon enough. Finish your breakfast and get your last stuff, the bus will be here soon enough. I’m going to wake up Dash and Jackjack.’ Helen said while she walked out of the kitchen.
Violet quickly finished her breakfast and went to her room to grab her backpack that held some stuff that would keep her busy during the ride to school. It would be a long ride as it was somewhere deep within a forest in Colorado. The took her phone and MP3 player out of their chargers and put them iin her backpack then she went back down after she looked trough her room one last time. Somewhere in the hallway she could hear the mumbling of Dash who just woke up and was busy getting dressed. And further down she could hear her mother talking to Jackjack while putting him in bath.
She went downstairs again to wait for the bus and looked at the clock.
Eight thirty, the bus would be here in thirty minutes.
