Our Non-Pixar Compositions

My sister has been bugging me about this for the longest time, so I decided to just go ahead and open this new thread for all of our non-Pixar art and compositions.

Most of our work is being uploaded to deviantART, so I will post up a few links to some of our stuff that has already been put up there. I’ve got some more to upload, but they are a bit older and will probably only move them to Photobucket.

Here we go… let’s see, what do we have here…?

Well, we’ve got some Mario fanart done by my sister; it includes two OCs of ours, so please be sure to read the artist’s comments.

Another OC of mine, whom I’ve been very hesitant to reveal to people because of her story. Her name is Daisie Ramée and you can read a snippet of her story in the artist’s comments as well.

And I don’t think it would hurt to put up some fan art me and my sister have done of OCs created by one of my favorite deviantART cartoonists, *BechnoKid. If you ever get the chance, check out her work. She has an amazing collection of OCs and is an extremely talented cartoonist. I hope to be as good as her one of these days… <3

So, there ya have it! Enjoy for now… like I said I’ll get around to putting up some older stuff in the near future. My sister won’t let me procrastinate much longer. xDDDD

little chef

I think that you are a very remarkable artist. When I saw the Babysitting Mario picture, I thought it was one of the cutest things you have ever sketched. Really well done.

Remarkable…? Well, I wouldn’t consider myself that good, but I always get told the exact opposite of my thoughts. Thank you so much!

And that Mario drawing was done by my sister. I think it’s one of my favorite drawings that she’s done so far.

A few random updates:

Here’s some more Mario art my sister did… there’s one of Bowser Jr. as well as Baby Luigi.

I just finished revamping a couple original characters, and I’m really happy with how they turned out. Travis and Natalie have been around since 2004 but I have only recently developed more of their story and overall look as cartoon characters. Please read the artist’s comments to learn a bit about them, and don’t forget to full-view the image as well; it’s rather small.

Enjoy people!

little chef

Dear god, Bowser Jr. and Baby Luigi look adorable! Kudos to your sis! :open_mouth:

Babysitting is also another cute number, Daisie’s tortured history was an interesting and harrowing read (Multi-layered characters with a ‘past’ like Mittens and Jessie the cowgirl intrigue me) and it’s great you’re drawing inspiration from Bechnokid. We budding artists feed off each other (and in turn, inspire others), and to me, that’s the beauty of art.

I’m not familiar with the Mario universe, but I think I know how the Boo ghosts look like, so you’ve done a good humanised interpretation of them with Travis. May I ask what book series Natalie is from? ‘World Peace Organisation’ sounds like an oxymoron to me. I’m interested to read about it.

But yeah, no complaints. Travis looks right cheeky, and Natalie looks cute. Are the duo gonna have adventures together? I’d love to see you explore their relationship in future sketches.

TDIT: No, I don’t like “flat” characters much myself. I will only really fall in love with a character if I feel they have more depth to them; and especially if their pasts grab at my heartstrings. I wanted people to feel a strange sympathy for Daisie, even if they weren’t even sure of who she was. Simply reading a story like that would make one feel sympathy, at least, hopefully.

Me and Bechno have actually been corresponding quite a bit over the past few weeks, and it has been nothing short of incredible. She has given me a lot of advice and even some heartfelt encouragement, and I feel now that I can approach her as a friend because I know she’s not one of those that are “too popular” for anyone; you know what I mean? She’s amazing, and she even thinks my art and style of drawing is amazing. dies

I added a link to an image of a Boo right in my artist’s comments of Travis and Natalie. I thought that it would be good to put there for those who weren’t familiar with the characters… such as yourself. Also, Travis is the little Boo wearing Mario’s hat in Babysitting. After he became human, he found out that he can transform into a Boo whenever he wants to. Obviously, Babysitting took place a little while before he turned human. :stuck_out_tongue: A bit confusing… I’m sorry…

Natalie is from a book series called Left Behind: The Kids by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye. It’s s 40 book series and is a “milder version” of their main series, Left Behind. Natalie shows up somewhere in Book 27 or 28 I think… 'cuz she wasn’t there long is all I remember. I’m telling you - you should give the main series a read. It will really get you thinking about the future.

Oh yes, the two will most certainly have many adventures! If Travis can get over the butterflies he gets whenever he approaches Natalie (ah, gotta love your first crush… :unamused:), I’m sure they’ll learn to get along great. Like I said, they’ve been around since 2004, so there’s already a lot of story behind them. It just might take me a few drawings to properly explain a lot of it.

Thanks for all the awesome comments!! I really appreciate it, and I’m glad that people are actually taking the time to look at my meaningless scribbles.

A sketch dump of one of my old, yet one of my favorite, OCs Altair Carter. Be forewarned that I didn’t fix any of the lines, color it, or any of that special stuff… this is my sketching in its rawest form, so excuse the evilness of it.

I know I say this every time, but it’s important that you at least read the artists comments - they really give insight into the character, and I explained as best as I could what each drawing was kind of about. Oh, and full-view as well, so you’ll be able to see all the detail as the lines are a bit light.

I’m a bit upset right now, but just looking at this guy always helps to lift my spirits. I hope you enjoy his spunky personality!

little chef

Hey, little_chef. I see that you’ve got a thread here for your non-Pixar art. Have you considered updating it?

Oh wow. This poor forgotten thread still exists.

Might as well update it, since I’ve got lotsa new How to Train Your Dragon fanart, for those of you who loved the movie like I did!

If you follow me on dA, you’ve already seen most of these, but I’ll put 'em up anyway. For moar exposure, muahahaa yes.

Very first little sketch dump

Really crappy sketch of Hiccup

Sketch dump by my sister

My sketch dump, fully colored

Ref sheet of my OC, Rowan.

Enjoy guise.

I’ve seen these on dA, and I’ve just got to say it… they are AWESOME!!!

Thanks again, JSWeC!

I have a bunch more HtTYD arts that I’m too lazy to go get the links for, but you know where my dA is so you can go there if ya wanna check 'em out. For now, here’s some pictures of my recently finished, home-made Toothless plushie! (I didn’t want to make a whole new thread for this, so I figured I’d post it here.)

The pictures are really huge, so I’ll link to them.

He was almost entirely hand-sewn, using a pattern made by Katy-A on deviantART. We had a bit of trouble getting his poor head on, so he doesn’t look as nice and professional as Katy’s, but I still love him to pieces. <333

We filled him with poly-beads, stuffed his head with polyester batting, and hand-painted his eyes onto round buttons, which were then sewn onto the head. If we have a go at making another one again, my mom is going to revise the pattern we used and probably make one that’s a little bigger. This was very small and hard to work with, but we did the best that we could. I’m pretty proud of the little bugger. 8DDD

little chef

That is the cutest plushie I’ve ever seen!!!

Haha, thanks! It was a lot of fun to make, but very hard at the same time. Next time we make one, I definitely won’t be doing it entirely by hand again.

little chef

Oh my goood… that’s one epic needlecraft there, little_chef! I think Toothless looks gorgeous! Really love how you did the eyes! And I admire your patience, I remember I had trouble even threading a needle in ‘Home Economics’ Class…

And as troublesome as it is to do by hand, it just looks more ‘natural’ and ‘homemade’ that way, IMO. Post it on dA, I’m sure the community will love it!

It’s been a great while since this was updated, so I might as well update it!

Of course, I’ve got plenty more HtTYD art. No surprise. And I was actually productive this week and did two new pieces - go me, haha. :stuck_out_tongue:

little chef

Holy Moly! You have no idea how much I like at homemade Toothless plushie! Very cute!

Thanks, EJE! It was tons of fun to make, and yet extremely hard. I have him sitting next to me right now… I love him to pieces, even if he’s not perfect. :stuck_out_tongue:

little chef

Whoa, I had no idea you’d conversed with Bechno Kid before - I first saw their work on Tegaki. Amazing artist. And that Toothless plush?! Couldn’t be better - I especially love the big green eyes. Definitely official-level merch.

Bechno and I have become pretty much besties. And it’s weird because back when I first met her, I thought she was this kind of artist who thought she was “above” everyone cuz her art was so good (ughhh I know a few artists like that :unamused:)… come to find out she’s one of the sweetest, down-to-earth people I’ve ever met! I absolutely adore her work!

And I wouldn’t say my Toothless plush is ‘official level merch’, but thanks! His eyes are probably my favorite part of him… my sister and my mom painted them in with green paint, clear glaze, and a good ol’ Sharpie. <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In

Love" />

I’ll have some more HtTYD arts up soon. I have them posted to my dA but not here yet. Though, those of you who actually visit my dA or watch me there see my updates, anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

little chef

That stuffed Toothless is awesome!! Why isn’t there an official one? It looks store quality to me, only more special, because now it’s a memory you can look back on. Very nice.
