I’m not good at predicting who will win. But I hope The King’s Speech wins best picture, Toy Story 3 best animated, and I See the Light for best song.

All I know is that TS3 will win. Even though they did a good job, I think there are other worthy animated films who will be jipped. These things are too predictable, and there is no hope for the under dogs…

That’s really pessimistic. Pixar may have won all of the other Golden Globes for “Best Animated FIlm” but that doesn’t mean it has to. You never know, nothing is impossible.

I know this list is old now, but it is by far the worst list of nominations ever produced by the Golden Globes. I honestly can care less about who’s going to win. It’s not like it’s going to surprise anyone anyway:

Toy Story 3 wins Best Animated Film- O RLY? I never would’ve guessed that.

The Social Network sweeps Best Picture, Director, and Leading Actor in a Drama- Great, more praise for the already hugely sucessful Facebook movie (which was still great, but not really my favorite movie this year).

Toy Story 3, Tron: Legacy, How to Train Your Dragon, Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, and Black Swan get snubbed for Best Score- Oh wait, that already happened.

Seriously, they’re laughing at us. Alice in Wonderland? Bulesque? RED? The Tourist? Who made this, Armond White? (Although AW would probably include Jonah Hex or something).

^Exactly!!! I love you even more now, Chuckles. hug

I already have my DVR preset to record the red carpet and the actual awards, I can’t wait!

When does it come on?

Sunday, Jan. 16.

Ah, cool!! I’ll set mine to record too.

Seriously, this is a joke.

Alice in Wonderland, Burlesque and The Tourist were all panned.

And two Johnny Depp nominations for two of his worst roles. Let me laugh.

What channel? In my search, nothing comes up! :frowning:

The Golden Globes will be broadcast live on Sunday, January 16th, at 8 PM EST / 5 PM PST.

I will be pulling for The Kids Are All Right and The King’s Speech for Best Picture - Musical/Comedy and Best Picture - Drama respectively. Hope Geoffrey Rush pulls out a win for Best Supporting Actor, too. I don’t really care that much this year, though. The HFPA really screwed themselves over this year with only nominating one good film for best musical/comedy. [spoil]And the fact that I’m still bitter at them for their bar on animated films doesn’t help either.[/spoil]

Oh, and Glee for Best TV Series - Musical/Comedy.

Woohoo! TS3 won!

We did ballots at my house tonight for the movie categories, as we don’t really watch that many of the TV shows that were nominated (except for Glee. Hooray for their wins!). I correctly guessed all of the movie categories except for supporting actor/actress, score, and song. A bit sad that Tangled didn’t win, but eh; it’s the HFPA, who hates animated movies so much that they decided to spoil the ending of one of the best movies of the year. Kinda knew that the Social Network was gonna win, but I have to say; I liked The King’s Speech better. Still, they were both great films, and the results of the whole thing (aside from Comedy/Musical) were not horrible.

First off, I’d like to say congrats to Toy Story 3! Totally deserved it. There has been 5 Golden Globes for Best Animated Feature, and Pixar’s won all 5! Congrats Lee Unkrich and all the staff at Pixar.

My favorite part was when Tom Hanks and Tim Allen were presenting an award together, and Tim told Tom “You are a sad, strange little man”

I’m sooo happy Natalie Portman won Best Actress (Drama) and Colin Firth Best Actor (Drama)

That’s where my happiness ends!

I don’t understand how the Social Network won so many awards! Especially Best Picture against Black Swan and The King’s Speech. That’s just unbelivable to me! I’m so disapointed

I missed the Golden Globes (for some reason, it wasn’t televised in Singapore this year, even though it has been for the past three years). I can probably catch up on Youtube, but frankly, I’m not the least bit interested in the Nominees (I have only watched The Social Network and The Town, the other films have yet to be theatrically released over here).

Frankly, The Social Network must be this year’s ‘Hurt Locker’/‘Slumdog Millionaire’. While I did enjoy the latter two in their respective years, they were ‘above average’ films in my books (I was rooting more for Avatar last year, as I felt it was more groundbreaking). But this year, I really despise the ‘critical darling’. And yes, I did watch it with an open mind in cinemas, and I still hated it. I’m sorry to say this, but none of the characters were appealing, the story went on longer than it should, and it wasn’t life-affirming in the least. In short, it was great film in terms of character conflicts and real-world cynicism, but sorry, none of the characters (especially the protagonist) endeared themselves to me.

Not to mention that the crime epic ‘The Town’ was practically snubbed in most award ceremonies this year. I would have much preferred the Affleck pic (which had a more powerful and upbeat ending) or even Inception (which had an… uh… is it a happy ending?) to get Best Drama.

In my ideal ‘non-animation-bias’ world, TS3, HTTYD or LOTG would’ve been nominated and won instead. But you know with the Golden Globes folks (who are cut from the same cloth as the Academy), that’s not gonna happen in a million years.

None of the TV shows interested me, although it pleased me to see Scott Caan of Hawaii Five-0 get a nom for Best Supporting Role (I liked his hapless ‘straight man’ foil to McLoughlin’s character). Glee is simultaneously piquing my curiousity and getting on my nerves for getting so many noms and wins; I watched the pilot and parts of some episodes, but to me, it seems like a grown-up version of High School Musical that does covers of contemporary and classic music with no original songs whatsoever. To fans I ask: Is it worth the hype? (I’m not being saracastic, merely curious about its success).

Oh, and Boardwalk Empire. I’m very interested to see it now. I know of at least one Pixar Planet Moderator here who will be delighted to see who won Best Actor for TV Drama…

Sure Toy Story 3 won Best Animated Feature…but Justin Beiber presented the award. :shake: I told you, they’re laughing at us. Not to mention he had like two lines and managed to flub them both. (I feel sorry for Hailee Steinfield having to hold his arm- now she’ll have to coat it in bleach).

Congrats to Toy Story! And I was rooting for you too HTTYD. And congrats for Tangled’s nomination.

And congrats to Chris Colfer’s well-deserved win. Two important aspects of acting includes range and depth. You showed both.

First of all, I want to say how much I hate it when Glee is accused of being a mature version of the trash High School Musical, a Disney movie that glamourizes showbiz as Glee reveals the tough, difficult side of showbiz (just watch the dark episode “Dream On”). No, the plots are not too original, but for how they reinterpret them and avoid resulting cliches, they are fun and entertaining to watch. Yes, I do believe the Season 2 has suffered from derailment that start to add up. And the (I was close to hating FinnXRachel considering that Rachel takes such a shallow interest at first until the writers skillfully deconstructed their adultery) first season started out as guilty pleasure, and grew into a genuinely nice dark comedy. Did Glee deserve Best Comedy? I don’t know, and I get the feeling I would say no. Did the winning actors Lynch and Colfer deserve it. Yes. Their characters are three-dimensional and they range from anger, funny, heartwenching, to ambitious. If the plot fails, then it’s always the maturing performance of the cast that drives me back in. And I would like to say that I am not one of the shallow fans who like Glee because of the music (I’m not stupid, I’m aware of the autotunes and the cast’s raw talent).

Wait, what? Beiber presented the Best Animation?! I don’t hate the kid, but I blame whoever choose him.
