HOP is clearly the winner of this weekend, it has an impressive breakout, despite of having bad critics

Was hoping for more from Source Code, but at least its budget was pretty low.

Sucker Punch is a bomb. Looks like there was some truth to those poor test screening rumors.

Sadly it doesn’t look like Rango will make it past its $135 million budget. A shame, because I want to see more animated efforts from Gore Verbinski and ILM.

Although, Rango did make the total box office gross of all 12 movies so far in this weekend title, it’s nice to see some demographics in the box office every once in a while on here.

Good idea for a thread guys! It’s nice to be able to keep up and discuss the Box Office.

12 Red Riding Hood WB $1,776,234 // $35,592,341 // 4

impressive for Hop, this is the result of Alvin and the Chipmunks success
great holds for Limitless and The Lincoln Lawyer, hard drop for Sucker Punch, I do not know what warner will do after this huge flop, after all the sucker punch director, Zack Snyder, is the one who is bringing back the new Superman Film in 2012
Rango will desappear after Rio comes out, it doesn’t seem to get the 135m budget (domestic), but international grosses are helping it

I take it this is the AMERICAN box-office thread?

Haha, anyway, here Down Under, there’s four movies premiering this week: ‘Never Say Never’, ‘Sucker Punch’, ‘Hop’ and ‘Rio’.

I’ve already seen a free advance of NSN on behalf of my uni magazine. Justin Bieber fans need only apply, if you hate him, this movie might change your impression of him… but it is by no means a masterpiece or anything.

I’ve no intention to see Hop after that candy-poop gag in the trailer, though I’ll probably support it on DVD. Sucker Punch… kinda ambivalent, it looks good but doesn’t seem to have a purpose or point… will go only if my friends are interested.

I suppose you can guess which movie’s getting my bucks this (or next) weekend.

but we can also make an international one, one update per weekend, I’ll post it specifying that it comes from overseas territories

My bad, make that NORTH America.

Cool beans!

It turned out that I gave Zack Snyder my money this weekend. But guess which movie I’ll be supporting next week?

I love Rio!

Estimates for April 8-10

admin.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/ … =14&p=.htm

1 Hop - $21.70m
2 Arthur - $12.61m
3 Hanna - $12.32m
4 Soul Surfer - $11.10m
5 Insidious - $9.74m
6 Your Highness - $9.52m
7 Source Code - $9.05m
8 Limitless - $5.69m
9 Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules - $4.89m
10 The Lincoln Lawyer - $4.60m
11 Rango - $2.39m
12 Sucker Punch - $2.10m

So a disappointing weekend at the box office as the openers performed below expectations. Your Highness especially looks like a major flop as it seemed to have a significant special effects budget judging from its trailer.

One positive note: Insidious had an incredible drop for a horror film, only down 26.6% from last week.

The box office should with all likelihood pick up next weekend with Rio and Scream 4 coming out, though. If not then we can officially say we’re in a depression.

I wish they were playing Soul Surfer where I live. I love that book!

i love it too, omg. it’s so inspiring.

I’m glad there’s another fan here! I like Bethany Hamilton’s story, and how she was able to get back on the board. She rocks!

12 Sucker Punch WB // $2,102,082 // $33,973,736 // 3

Hop tops the chart once again, Hanna impressed everyone’s expectations and great holds for Insidious and The Lincoln Lawyer

Had a feeling Your Highness wasn’t going to be that impressive, no matter how well they worked with the trailer. And even then, the commercial came on like twice during the commercial breaks, and every single one of them!

Scream 4 is bombing, such a pity

Estimates for 4/22-4/24
admin.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/ … =16&p=.htm

1 Rio - $26.80m
2 Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family - $25.75m

9 Hanna - $5.28m
10 Source Code - $5.06m
11 Arthur - $4.10m
12 Limitless - $2.65m

Rio drops 31.7% from last weekend, and should cross $100 million sometime next week.

Your higness Still performing poorly, but i was surprised that the Conspirator really got shot down in the Box Office. Rio did quite well, but yeah, Scream 4 is slipping. The lincoln lawyer still doing somewhat well in the box office, but if Rio gets good rates, it will pull higher in the box office with just 2 weeks in!
