I wonder if Pete's daughter was an inspiration to him of having it take place in a girl's mind.

Uh! Docter is good at that. Maybe he can make something as emotional as Up.

Well, look at Bonnie from Toy Story 3: I wouldn't consider her scenes in the movie to be overly "girly," but maybe neutral if anything.

I've also wondered what kind of emotions will be dealt with and how old the character will be. I'd probably be happy with any age. One could say that an older girl could be more dimensional, but younger girls would be equally fascinating to explore the motions of. Just look at Hayao Miyazaki; some of his most interesting characters haven't even hit puberty yet and yet they're full of dimension, but done in a realistic way (Mei is super young!). Even though the emotions will be "characters," I hope the rest of the story has little to no elements of fantasy, kind of like the first chunk of Up before Carl makes the balloon house.

You've referenced another reason why I want her to be older: Pixar has already had its share of cute little girls. Want to see them attempting something different.

I think Pete can handle it well either way (old or young).

Maybe the film will go through the girl's whole life, from childhood to adult.

^ That's an interesting thought, actually.

Agreed! Like I said, I'll be happy with either.

I don't know. I would really only count Bonnie and Boo as the significant little (human) girls, but maybe I could also consider Dot. Violet Parr and the upcoming Princess Merida are roughly teenagers. So I think the number of older and younger girls are about equal?

Well, I was not limiting the thing to human girls only, so they have a fine share. Anyway, even if you only count Boo and Bonnie, they're the most important ones, of any age.

And yes, Violet is too old to be deemed as a little girl, but she's still a kid, so she doesn't fit in the age group I was talking about.

We don't know Merida's age so far, but she seems to not be an adult yet, so she doesn't count either.

I would like to see Pixar make a film with a lead female character at least every few years, give the girls more of a chance.
But what if Andy gets another dinosaur? A mean one? I just don't think I can take that kind of rejection. Im a OFFICIAL PIXARTEER Image Image

An older girl. A young adult.

We haven't a lot of these from Pixar so far.

That's my favorite idea so far, actually.

Thanks for bringing it, Reaper.

I wonder if it's inside a mind what the character's will be.

I agree, the growing up thing is a really good idea. Maybe it's about her letting go of her childhood, a bit like how Up was letting go of the past in favour of the future.
