The backgrounds look cheap? did we watch the same trailer?

I think its one of the best animation I've ever seen

Doesn't look cheap at all to me - btw. when searching on youtube I found like at least five different trailers for this film. I haven't watched all of them, kinda afraid of too many spoilers...

All right, so for the first time ever there were two Pixar films in a year. Here's my review.

Spoiler: show
The main character is a young Dinosaur named Arlo. He lives with his family on a farm; they all have their duties to show their responsibility. If they get a big job done then they get their print on a corn silo. Arlo never gets to this so his father comes up with an idea to catch whoever is eating their food, it happens to be a human boy. When doing so a storm comes up and washes the dad away, killing up. Sometime later Arlo sees the boy again and he too gets washed away. They see each other again and they soon travel with each other to find Arlo's home.

I thought the film was cute. I didn't like it as much as Inside Our, but I liked it more then I thought I would. The visuals were fantastic, you would see hundreds of trees in the background and the water looked great too. I couldn't find John's voice, A113, or the PP truck. It had it's sad moments like when
Spoiler: show
Spot fins a new family to be with.
The bad thing is that I think this will be the new A Bug's Life. Just like that film is sandwiched in between the first two Toy Story's, this film with be sandwiched in between Inside Out and Finding Dory. Inside Out is seen as their best film since Toy Story 3 and a ton of people have been waiting for Finding Dory. I think this film will fade away a little and will become similar to A Bug's Life.

As for Finding Dory; it looks good. I wasn't asking for a sequel, but I trust them with this and hope it becomes a success.
But what if Andy gets another dinosaur? A mean one? I just don't think I can take that kind of rejection. Im a OFFICIAL PIXARTEER Image Image

^If you look at the end credits, John Ratzenberger did the voice of Earl for this movie.

Also the main reason for a sudden absense of the so-called Easter eggs in this film may have something to do with the fact that most of the film has a prehistoric-type theme to it.

On the other hand, I found out that the movie was having its early viewings for a premiere opening night at my local Cinemark theater and that was how I got to see the 3D version of it right on the eve of its opening...as in, I went to see it on the night before it was supposed to come out! :D

Ah, I thought it was one of them, just didn't know which.

I also made a video review if anyone is interested.

I finally saw the movie last night. I'll admit that it was beautifuly animated. Loved the relationship between the two main characters. And I thought it was interesting with someof the choices Pixar decided to do with it. However, I'll admit that I wasn't blown away by it. It was good, but i'm not crazy about it for a Pixar movie.

Just saw the film today and loved it. Once again proving that Pixar has yet to make a bad film.

I just saw the movie today at a special advance screening.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was quite a pleasant experience.

I had been wondering about the lack of villains in all the prerelease material I read, but as it turns out:
Spoiler: show
There are some.

The first ones (who play a significant, if infrequent role) are the Stormchasers, a group of crazy Pterosaurs who prey on smaller creatures stranded by the storm.
Unfortunately for them, while dimunitive by Sauropod standards, Arlo is still big enough to teach them a lesson once he gets his courage.

There are also the Rustlers, who make a habit of stealing the T.Rex's cattle, they are Raptors.
They only appear during one scene.

Other spoileriffic stuff:
Spoiler: show
I am still wondering what kind of sauropod Arlo is meant to be.
The material I read said he is an Apatosaurus, but the general body structure of his father is more like that of a Brachiosaur.

I thought it was interesting for once, the T.Rexes in this movie are given a more interesting portrayal then that of a savage bloodthirsty monster.
While it's never addressed in the movie, I assume they feed on the cattle they herd rather then other dinosaurs.

The Raptors however, are not so friendly, but being on the small scale of dinosaurs, they don't do well against 3 T.Rexes and Arlo.
I wish they hadn't given them feathers though, that's just a crock theory someone advocated that has no basis in fact (although I'm sure they're good at presenting their opinions as truth).

I did wonder about the ending though, when a family of wild humans adopt Spot, they take him away with him.
I would have thought it would have been more practical for the entire family to move to Arlo's farm, as there would be both a ready supply of food and protection.
Curiously, the family all have white hair (including the children), but Spot's hair is dark.
I did wonder about the significance of that.

It looks like Disney has finally given up pretending that they are making computer games based on their movies.
I expected to see the standard notice about Disney Interactive games based on the movie at the end of the credits, but it wasn't there this time.
I guess they eventually noticed that one DI figure (Spot) and 4 mounts (Arlo plus the T.Rexes) don't make a full game.

I thought it was a decent movie. Could have been funnier. Hated the ending. Mark thing was stupid. But other than that, nice.

Spoiler: show
I think the dad's death could have been done better. Just the moment. The quick nature of it was kind of, um...it's hard to explain but it seemed a bit like slapstick. I'm ashamed to say I laughed at it. :(

No basis in fact? Crock theory? Hold on a diddly dang minute, feathers on raptors are actually scientifically proven since the early 00's, what the heckie? In fact, they didn't have enough feathers in the movie, but that's a can of worms all to its own.

Anyway, T. rexes were the best part. Love them. Wish the movie was about them. Arlo and Spot were cute together, though.

Look at me replying to a year-old topic...

This movie (along with Inside Out and Finding Dory) were SUPPOSED to disprove of the Pixar theory. But unfortunately, Jon Negroni--along with SuperCarlinBrothers--have already tried to fit them in, and the whole thing's really just making me mad! (And yes, I know we have a thread about that, but still! :x )

And I also don't get the whole hate around putting cartoony characters into realistic-looking background...especially for THIS movie! I mean, seriously?! Come on, people, you gotta wake up from that delusion of yours and also learn to accept the fact that the whole thing is CGI, for crying out loud! Don't you people even know what CGI stands for anymore?!

Seems to me the movie's reputation definitely wasn't going well, especially with all those negative insults and critisims that caused it to flop...grr.

Personally, the cartoon-y dinos together with those realistic-looking backgrounds didn't bother me at all. It was on a whole visually appealing to me and that's that. Not to say that this was the only good thing about The Good Dinosaur. It was a pleasant movie about Arlo becoming braver and his friendship with Spot. And I really gotta watch it again.
