Recently film critic Michael Phillips revealed Ratatouille as his #2 movie of the decade, now At the Movies co-host A.O. Scott follows up with WALL-E as his pick for the best film of the decade.
Now that is awesome! I think Wall-E and Ratatouille deserve it! They were both fantastic films! Wall-E I think deserves film of the decade, but hey, just me. thanks for that news totoro! Totally made me smile
The folks over at the WALL•E forums have been following this for a while now, so I’ve been kind of up on the news as it came out, but this totally slipped by me! I had to have voted for this movie like, 20 times on their page, though I kind of had a feeling it’d place in the top 3, at least. But number 1 is just too awesome! Yaaaaaay WALL•E - yet another accomplishment!
It’s awesome to see Ratatouille that high up on the list as well, it deserves a spot like that, IMO. I personally don’t think the movie gets enough love. If I had known that was a voting choice as well, I would have put my votes in for it, too.
little chef
Hooray for WALL•E!!!
Hopefully in 100 years, it gets named Film of the Century!!!
Well, of course, no surprise about that. It was nice to see one of them put ‘Flight 93’ on their list, a much underrated, unseen movie, because it was factual and had a flabbergasting cast, unlike the Nicholas Cage fireman 9-11 movie with its heroic melodrama. There were other movies on their lists that I just have to see.
I saw that! (Scott picking Wall-E as his #1.) I’d love to know how many critics’ “Best of the Decade” lists have included at least one Pixar film.
That’s really cool. And a little unexpected. Nemo or the Incredibles wouldnt have surprised me to be anywhere on that list, but picking WALL-E is certainly an original choice. And putting it at #1 is certainly unexpected! I’m not gonna complain though. It was a great movie.
claps hands Congrats, Wall-E! You win at life.
For almost a year, WALL-E was my favorite film of all time. So of course I’m glad that A.O. Scott named it the best movie of the decade! <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/grinandwink.gif” alt=“;-D” title="Grin and
Wink" />
Wall-E and ratatouille certainly deserve to be on that list.
I saw United 93, and it was an amazing film, it was so well done, and it’s about as close to the truth about that flight as we’re ever going to get. The cast was…incredible…also made me appreciate the work the flight control folks do.
Strangely, United 93 helped me move past the 9/11 shellshock feeling. It was very cathartic.
So, good list of films from those two reviewers.
Actually WALL-E has made it on a very large amount of Best of the Decade lists and has been one of the most-awarded Pixar films, so I hardly see how it is surprising.
Ahh. I wasnt aware of that. I didnt catch as much publicity about it getting awards as with some of the others, so thats why I said that.
Did you see who was playing the roles of the flight controller crews in the film credits?? It’s worth a rent (if you can actually find this film, prob is $4 online to buy). I didn’t see who was playing the characters until the 2nd viewing, and like I said: flabbergasting!
Yes, it’s amazing. Ben Sliney (FAA Ops Manager) played himself, (amazing job) and so did a number of the flight controllers (civilian and military) that were at their posts that day. Memorable performances. Must have been an icnredible experience to go through it literally all over again.
That’s great!
I recently heard a radio interview with AO Scott (not specifically about Wall-E, but he did mention it and sing its praises)… but great to see that both Ratatouille and Wall-E are at the very top of the critics’ decade list. It’s well-deserved, and you’ll get no arguement from me
