Hola, kiddies!
I spent October 17-19 at the Eastwood Expo Center in Niles, OH where I attended the 2008 Screaming Tiki Con, which was the first comic and pop culture convention of its kind. An ex-professor and friend of mine Peter Smith organized the entire event, and my mom and I volunteered to help.
Here are photos I selected of favorite items and celebrity guests we met:
The '66 Batmobile was already parked inside the day before the convention started. It was quite an opportune moment for photo-taking.

the '66 Batbike

They offered attendees rides in the '66 Batcopter.

My Cars die cast radar never lies.

Apparently brand new Cars race car die casts were recently released as Kmart exclusives.

I purchased Van, Spin Out Lightning McQueen, and Spare Mint.

Too bad I didn’t carry enough Rupees.

The same dealers were even selling the Master Sword. And yes, that is the Keyblade to the left of it.

Adam West (TV’s Batman / Mayor West)

Adam West signed my Mayor West figure: “To Carrie…Mayor West” ![]()

Yvonne Craig (TV’s Batgirl)

Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca)

Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett)

Noel Neill (TV’s Lois Lane)

Sarah Douglas (Ursa from Superman II)

Malachi Throne (TV’s False Face)

Lee Meriwether (Catwoman from 1966 Batman movie)

Patrick Block & Shelly Block (Walt Disney comic books)

The Gamorrean guard was hands down the best costume there.

Na na na na na na na na Batman!

I helped design the Superman logo for a 4’ X 4’ cake.

Peter Smith

Pete’s heartfelt closing speech made the convention all worthwhile. He wants to pursue a Screaming Tiki Con next summer, but so far nothing is set in stone.
