2011 New Years' Resolutions

Sorry if there’s already a thread like this.

What is your New Years’ Resolution(s)? Mine is to be nicer to my siblings, but I don’t know how long that’ll last- I mean I don’t know if they’ll be equally nice to me back.

Happy 2011! “California here we come- Dinoco here we come- Cars 2 here we come!”

I don’t exactly have resolutions for the New Year, but rather goals I’d strive to do anyway.

  • Go back to the weight I was in summer (curse you, Christmas cookies!)
  • Fill up a sketchbook with decent pen and watercolor drawings
  • Put a storyboard onto actual paper instead of letting it linger in my brain

Happy New Year everyone! Looking forward to alot this year.

You too Geoff!

Personally I want to do as well as I can on my Masters… and make a proper head start on my original writing- perhaps help myself out with some of the 1 sentence/drabble prompts I’ve found, some of which I’ve completed- they certainly help keep ideas coming in various indirect ways and helping the world I’m trying to make become a bit more interesting even if it uses some traditional tropes and looks into them in (hopefully) more depth. (Just in case anyone has any resolutions about writing stories short or long in general this year- they can help in various ways! They’re found all over on livejournal.)

-To get down to to 240
-To eat healthier
-To read more. A lot more
-To take better care of myself
-To take better care of my house
-To finally finish writing something. Anything!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

I can safely say that this is ther first itme where I kept true to all of my 2010 resolutions.

Here are my 2011 ones.

  • Do well in school (and hope to transfer to contunue my studies)
  • to never give up doing the things I love and what I do best
  • to finish project I’ve started not only on time, but with 110% effort.
  • break a few immature habits

Happy New year! x

My new years resolutions are:
Work harder in school (I work hard anyway but I do think I could put more effort in)
Be nicer to my siblings (Like Chuckles said I don’t think that will last for very long either, It matters how nice they are. Lol!
Do some sketching and writing I haven’t done any in ages, I mean I did a little yestaday so that’s a start.
And Keep my room tidy that should be easy because my mum will be reminding every day to clean it :stuck_out_tongue: x

  1. To organize my binder and locker at school.
(My locker is almost as bad as my disaster-zone bedroom)

  2. to eat better
(Christmas goodies were not kind to my waistline, or my teeth. wouldn’t be surprised if I have a cavity)

  3. to walk the dog everyday
(My dog is old, and kinda chubby. She (and I) could use the exercise)

  4. to be a better friend.
( call my bff that lives across the country once in awhile, to invite one of my new(er) friends over to my house sometime, etc.)

Happy new year guys!

Mine are:

  • Yeah, be healthier because I want to look good this summer!
  • Try to 2D animate something, ANYTHING
  • reply when people text me
  • work my absolute hardest at school
  • get an awesome sketchbook together

Evangeline, are you looking to apply to art schools by any chance?

Well, this may sound very bad, but…I only have 3.

1.) To be less of a jerk
2.)to be more like Christ, and less like a hipocrit
3.)Be less defensive about my interests; embrace when someone disagrees with me(so basically, more tolerance.)

Evangeline: I hope you 2Danimate something! That’s all I did in my math class in high school, do little flip book animations in my math journal

Virginia: I think it’s great and important to be defensive about your beliefs. But please stay tolerant. Tolerance is really important. To tolerate basically means “to each their own”, and it would be a shame if you didn’t tolerate others beliefs. You do expect them to tolerate yours, right?

My resolution is to get a job!

Wow. This one covers all 3 of mine. :open_mouth:

You’re right, EJE. It’s just that I get very annoyed after being called stupid for having beliefs, that after a while, I stop feeling for those who…don’t. I really respect Muslims and other denominations and religions, it’s just really hard to be nice to people who aren’t nice to you. Muslims and other religions have never insulted me. I’ve had people try to convert me, but only nonreligious people have ever attacked me or called me stupid/naive/immature. I’m working on being nice to mean people, though.

To finish everything I start this year…

I know it’s hard, but if you’re not tolerant, than you’re no better than the people who bring you down. And I think you’re the one who mentioned being more Christlike (correct me I’m wrong). And he’s the king of Tolerance.

I was the one who said that. I’m working on it to my best effort.

I have posted my new year resolutions on FB, but here they are for y’all to laugh at:

  1. Gain 3 kg before my return to Sydney.
  2. Get at least three distinctions for my last semester in university.
  3. Get a full-time job that I love by the end of the year.

I might also add:

  1. Fill at least one sketchbook with artwork/doodles.
  2. Write and post at least two fanfiction series that have been percolating for ages in my mind.
  3. Set up an alternate Youtube channel to post video diaries and piano performances.

An addendum to my resolution

-Commit to learning how to write/read music

Just be myself, that’s my NYR!

That’s a good one!! I’m afraid I’m too good at that myself, though.
