33rd Annual People's Choice Awards winners

I happened to catch this on TV at just the right time.

"Life Is A

Highway" by Rascal Flatts won the awards for Best Remake and Best Song From A Movie.

Congrats to Rascal Flatts for their win. I have never heard the original myself, but they did an incredible job

with their version. They deserve it.

Congratulations to Rascal Flatts

– they certainly deserve the award.

Other than that, did Cars win anything else in this award show?

Shortly after Rascal Flatts won

their second award, they did a recap of previous winners, and Cars had won the award

for Favorite Family Movie.

I would’ve gone back and edited my first post, but my brother kicked me

off. There’s only 1 force that can stop PixarVixen
her younger brother.

Wow, Cars is once again a

dominant movie, thanks to the creators from Pixar. Congrats to them, and not just Rascal Flatts.

Again, congratulations to Cars for earning the award for

Favorite Family Movie. I am proud of Pixar.

PixarVixen - You have a brother? Man, everybody has a brother but me. I wish

I had one

What competion did Cars have to face?

I’ve been searching for the other nominees for that category, but I couldn’t find a

decent list
until I got to MovieWeb.

For the award for Favorite Family Movie,

Cars went up against Over The Hedge and

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown.

Upon locating this list of nominees, I learned that

Cars was also nominated for Favorite Movie. For that award, it went up against

Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man’s Chest and X-Men 3: The Last

Stand. POTC2 won.

And in my first post, I forgot to mention

that “Real Gone” by Sheryl Crow was also nominated for Best Song From A Movie. That would’ve been

my pick.

Eh, I’m not surprised. I doubt any animated film could have

stood against Captain Jack Sparrow, even if the first was better, IMO. Fair

enough.

Me too. It’s

also my first pick for AA Best Song (“Our Town” and “O Kazakhstan” is tied for a close second

:stuck_out_tongue: )

Woohoo  !Go Cars,Victory

!

Brilliant! "Life Is A

Highway" definitely deserved that award, and it’s good that Cars still won, despite some pretty stiff

competition.

Mitch- I don’t!

lizardgirl - Haha – how could you not? Brothers

are cool!

Side-Note - I believe that, on Rotten

Tomatoes, Cars earned the Golden Tomato

award, coming in at first place!

Yeah, I believe it won a

Golden Tomato award for becoming the best reviewed animated film of 2006.

My first pick for the Academy Award for Best Song is

“Our Town”. Out of the ones that I’ve heard from the long list, #2 would certainly be "You Know

My Name" (even though I haven’t even seen Casino Royale yet). "Real

Gone" comes in at #3. More likely than not, “Listen” from Dreamgirls

will win the award (plenty of Oscar prediction websites say so). But hey, there’s always a chance that the

prediction sites were wrong, considering that this Oscar category hasn’t been that easy to predict in recent

years. I mean, I never would have guessed that “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp” would win last

year.

Golden Tomato award?

Holy cow! How exciting. I know one other movie that won that and that is The Incredibles. I believe Cars will do

strongly in the other awards as well.

And I know another movie called Finding Nemo that

won the same award. And if it hadn’t been for the third Lord of the Rings movie,

Monsters, Inc. would have also won the same award. The first three Pixar films

couldn’t have won the award because Golden Tomato awards didn’t exist back then. However, I must note that

Toy Story 2 is currently considered to be the best-reviewed film of

all time in Rotten Tomatoes, which is a huge honour.

Also, to clarify,

Cars didn’t actually win the Golden Tomato award for being the best-reviewed film

of the year; instead, it won the Golden Tomato award for being the best-reviewed

animated film of the year. But of course, that doesn’t take away the fact that it

won an award - I’m just saying all this so as to get rid of any confusion.

I might be a little biased, but I think that Cars

deserves the best Reviewed film. I hate to say it, but I think that was the best movie of 2006. (And I didn’t

watch alont. Poor me)

Yay! I’m so happy for Cars (and Rascal Flatts) to get those awards! Of course

it makes sense Pirates would win as a fav. movie but that’s cool Cars was nominated in that category. (just a

question, do people vote on nominations too? or just for the winners?) That’d be nice if they did because that

means enough people voted for it to be nominated

That is a good question. I would believe that they would

pick the nominations as well. If you see the awards was called “Favorite Movie”, and not "Best

Movie". It is what people like or what they consider good.

On the “note” of Rascal Flatts I heard today that last year they were the

most played artist on the radio of any genre period. =)
