A Christmas Carol

I’ve revived this thread for good reason; time has passed and there is now a wealth of information on the film:

First of all, the theatrical poster has been found online:

And also the first look at the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival recently:

The first trailer is expected to be released later this month.

Christopher Lloyd would make a good Marley!

When I see Daryl Sabara’s name on there, it made me want to see this less, but then I saw Michael J. Fox and now I TOTALLY want to see it.

Probably with Up. Here’s also a news story about a Christmas Carol train Disney is sending around the country.
[url]UPDATE: Hop Aboard the Christmas Carol Train!

I know I’m definitely going to check this out! How about you guys?

That is so cool, and there is a stop in Dallas! I’m gonna check this out when it rolls into town.

An interview with Robert Zemeckis and Jim Carrey has come online:

Wow, Bill! Thanks for the link! Finally, some kind of actual footage…looks pretty good!

IGN posted the first official clip up earlier today. Check it out:

Wow! That, too, looks amazing. I cannot wait for this to come out!

JoBlo has a review of the train tour:

Sounds like it will be really cool! Love that it brings Christmas to every city. It doesn’t stop in DC until much later in the year, but I’m planning on going for sure, especially after what they said. They saw footage from the movie, so the review DOES include some minor spoilers (don’t think it’s anything to worry about, but I thought I’d warn you) and they say the CGI is incredible…I think his exact words were “stunning” - definitely bodes well for the film!

Huh. After seeing that 10 seconds of film (and after hearing more about it) I must say it does look interesting to say the least. It may still be too early to judge since that clip only shows a few lines of dialogue, but Scrooge’s voice almost seems a little too young. Just a little, or maybe I’m visualizing Jim doing it, knowing he’s younger, after being used to seeing old guys play the part.

I honestly don’t think too much of it. I’m only for it because of Jim Carrey.

Wasn’t a trailer supposed to come out by now?

TAMATER - I’m really looking forward to seeing Jim Carrey in this as well. He’s such a physical performer, and since he’s playing, like, seven characters in this, he’ll really get to showcase that.

woody - I have not seen a trailer just yet, but it must be coming out soon, I’d imagine.

Excuse the double post, but wanted to share this on A Christmas Carol… actually, of the train tour.
Movie Surfers clip

There’s tons more footage/concept art in here and it looks really amazing!
Have any of you in the US gone to it yet? It doesn’t come to DC until October so I have to wait quite a bit…

I wish I could have, but I, too, will be at the DC train stop…what a kawinkydink!

The official website has opened:

Thanks for that update, Bill! Still no trailer online, huh? I guess I’ll be going to many a 3D movie this summer to check it out! :stuck_out_tongue: Word from Comic-Con is that the technology has grown leaps and bounds from Beowulf and looks pretty amazing.

Not sure if any of you had seen this yet, but here is a German poster for the film: [url]JoBlo - Movie News, Latest Trailers, and More

I’ve seen the trailer for this twice in 3D. Once before Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, and again before G-Force. It truly looks amazing. Very dark, visually stunning, certainly not for young kids. This film will be awesome and amazing. I can’t wait until November. I think you can see the trailer online in really poor quality filmed off a theatre screen. But it really doesn’t do the film justice.

Whoa, you’ve seen the trailer already, R2-D2? You’re so lucky! I’ve seen the German trailer, which is supposed to be just like the English one, but in German. I hope it turns up online soon…

I concur - lucky you! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it. Judging from that poster, the movie does seem darker than other versions - and I, for one, am looking forward to that! It’ll be a cool new take on it, I think. Don’t think I’ll do the YouTube search, I would rather see it on the big screen to get the full 3D effect so will have to return to the theater.
