A Christmas Carol

The first feature film by Robert Zemeckis’ new MoCap company (recently started by him and Dick Cook) has been announced.

Now that is interesting. However, if the “rumors” about Jim Carrey playing the title characters (along with several other roles) is correct, my anticipation for this film may decrease… on the other hand, I suppose it would work. Well, we’ll just have to wait and see…

Thanks for the information, Bill!

Interesting. I like A Christmas Carol. I like Jim Carrey personally, so I hope the “rumors” hold true.

Thanks, Bill.

Even though I like the story of A Christmas Carol… I don’t think Jim Carrey is Scrooge material.

Heh, I agree with Googly-Bear. I absolutely loved the book, but Jim Carrey wouldn’t be my first pick if I was in charge.

I believe it will be fine. Jim is well known for doing many voices, but has never done voice-over roles before. His first voice-over role is in Horton Hears a Who!. I have no problem with him voicing Ebenezer Scrooge.

So I guess MoCap is the new thing now, ay? I can’t really see Jim Carrey being Ebenezer Scrooge. That would come across to me as kinda weird, I think.

Here’s more information for you guys.

Bob Hoskins will be in the film as well, making this his second collaboration with Robert Zemeckis (they first worked together on Who Framed Roger Rabbit).

Bill - Bob Hoskins?! Alright, I’ve gotta watch it now…

– Mitch

Bill: Really now, huh? Well, I can’t wait to see him.

A few more cast members have been confirmed.

Here’s the cast so far:

Jim Carrey - Ebenezer Scrooge/Ghost of Christmas Past/Ghost of Christmas Present/Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come

Bob Hoskins - (role not confirmed)

Gary Oldman - (role not confirmed)

Colin Firth - (role not confirmed)

Robin Wright Penn - (role not confirmed)

Cary Elwes - (role not confirmed)

Maybe Bob Hoskins does Marley?

The cast list looks interesting. I’ll want to see this when it comes out.

So Jim is doing the lead, plus all the ghosts? Weird. I’m still not too sure about this one. One thing though, the Ghost of Christmas Future doesn’t talk. Unless in this version he will. I’ve seen a couple versions where that ghost has a line or two.

Here are two images from A Christmas Carol:

The teaser poster:

Here’s the second image:

Ooh, now THIS looks pretty cool. I’m interested to see how it will turn out. The cast so far looks brilliant, and Jim Carrey will be great, I’m sure. He’s always seemed like a Johnny Depp-type actor, where they can play just about anything they want to, without being known for playing a certain type of part, like so many actors and actresses do.

Yeah, I’ve seen that picture before. I really want to see this. I think Jim Carrey is suited to that role perfectly. Although, most people either love or hate the guy. He can be a little bit grating, I admit…

Huh. I do like the poster. I think I’d have to see more (like when there’s a trailer or something) to see if I’d go see it.

Here’s an interview with Jim where he discusses the film:

Just found some stuff from imdb.com - I haven’t fully figured out how dependable they are, but I still like them. Apparently, so far they have listed…

Christopher Lloyd as Marley’s Ghost (rumored)
Bob Hoskins as Mr. Fezziwig (rumored - that’s a match I can see)
Daryl Sabara as Peter Cratchit
Michael J. Fox as Tiny Tim (rumored)

Sammi Hanratty, Molly C. Quinn, Ryan Ochoa, and Raymond Ochoa are also in the cast.

Is this animated or partially animated? I mean, Michael as Tiny Tim? I know Michael maintains the young look, but… :open_mouth: Also, doesn’t the poster kinda look CGI style?
