If you have the Cars DVD, you’ve probably seen the four deleted scenes there. But here’s something you may have never heard of. In an original storyboard artwork I saw in the book I got today, The Art of Cars, there was a picture. It immediately grabbed my attention. It was Lightning on Doc’s lift, all banged up. He was supposed to get in a wreck in the movie!!! OMG!!! Man, I’m happy they changed it! Also, there’s this one picture I can’t explain with Lightning on a lift and Doc controlling it. I thought it was funny, and very odd.
Yeah I remember seeing that. Would have been interesting I think, but I’m also thinking the storyline must have been way different. I’m not sure how they’d put that scene in the final story. But yeah the Art of Cars book gave me a lot of clues about more than just the concept art but the previous storylines as well. (Like Ramone’s full name was Ramone Impala, Sarge’s real first name was William, Doc graduated med school in 1960 I think, although I cant remember for sure)
Was there anything about Sally or Mater or Lightning?

Nothing that really sticks out. I’m not saying there wasnt, but I cant think of anything off the top of my head right now.
The first one really reminds me of the “Worthless” sequence in The Brave Little Toaster

Come to think of it, I’m kinda glad that didn’t happen either. It would be kinda…anti-climatic. And would kinda not make sense in the story.
Such a thing might be interesting in Cars 2, though, where Lighting ends up having to cope with being destroyed the same way Doc did.
That’s interesting. And it’s almost guaranteed that they’ll repeat what they did with Toy Story 2, and by that I mean they’ll put not necessarily this scene, but some scene(s) that was/were deleted from the first film in the final product of the second.
I want this book now!

I really hope Lightning doesn’t get into an accident in the second movie…D:
