A few questions about Toy Story and it's fans...

One of the main plot points in TS3 (seen in the trailer) is that Andy is going to college. If you think about it, some of us were around the same age back in 1995 as Andy was in the first film, and are now old enough that some of us will be in fact be going to college/uni when Toy Story 3 comes out. Which got me thinking…

Has Toy Story/PIXAR helped you in think in either way what your ambisions/dreams/hopes are for the future?
For example, Toy Story was (and is) the first CGI feature film ever made. I think it was that, my exposure to computers both at home and at school, and a few other things that caused me to go somewhere into computing. About a month ago, I got a letter saying I was accepted into the B Computing (Infomation Systems) at Uni of Western Sydney. Now I’ll be doing something I love.

Last year (this year in some places) Toy Story 1 & 2 was released in 3D, to bring back this franchise/movies. Did seeing theese films again create any sort of nostalgia?
It did for me. I hadn’t seen TS for about 10 years (or so) and so I started to pick up jokes that I probably wouldn’t have gotten when I was 3 or even 8. I also created this feeling of relaxing, childhood time.

Do you still take care of your toys?
Just askin…

I’m saying this because it would be nice to do something with this idea. Maybe a little documentary (10 min at most) of some of you talking about this.

Interesting questions, joshlama! And well done for getting into University, sounds like you’re going to have a great time.

I was Andy’s age when the first film came out and this year I’ll also be going to university, like Andy, though I have to admit I don’t really think that Toy Story itself has influenced my decisions (though it did turn me into a Pixar fan and did spark my interest in characters and stories).

I definitely feel a bit of nostalgia whenever I watch Toy Story, no matter how many times I watch it, even though I didn’t see either Toy Story or Toy Story 2 in 3D in the cinema.

And yes, I’ve always taken care of my toys, and wouldn’t be surprised if that was partly down to Toy Story.

Yes, I still care for my toys…

It has changed me totaly I want to work as an animator at pixar. to bad im 14 but when i was 4 the offered me a job by mistake.

Its is odd how in TS3 Andy goes to college, as I just started college last year(i’m 18) and like Andy I have my old toys in the attic. Just the other day I went up there an found them and it brought back memories…

But in a way Toy Story and Pixar’s idea of a good story making a good movie, not just effects has got me thinking about possibly becoming a writer. A sci-fi/fantasy writer!

Unfortunately I did not get to see Toy Story 1 & 2 in 3D, although I wanted to. I definitely plan on getting them on Blu-Ray as well as seeing TS3 in theaters.

But i’m not sure if I still care for my toys, many are in the attic unsold…and i’m not sure if I will sell them. I though about giving them away to my cousins(3 boys) as they like almost everything I like. I have a Small soldiers toy that is in my room as well as a Spider-Man and Venom toy that I have kept in my room.

Pixar has made an impact on me. I’ve always loved their movies, but the Toy Story movies have made the biggest impact on me. One reason being because in my childhood I was going through some rough times and whenever I watched TS1 or TS2, I just forgot about everything. Even though this may sound weird to some, it was like the TS universe was my own little escape from everything that was happening around me. As for inspiring me to work in CGI, no. I love CGI and all, but I’m one of those people that doesn’t have the heart to actually work on a movie, but I do enjoy it from afar.

When TS1 and TS2 came out as a double feature, I was excited. I had a big wave of nostalgia hit me, hard. I remembered how as a kid, I covered my eyes during some scenes because I didn’t want to see anything bad happen to my favorite characters. I remember how when the TS2 trailer first popped up in theaters, my parents were very excited for it and couldn’t wait. It also brought back the nice memory of when the movies ended, everyone clapped. Now I have new memories of how my boyfriend and I went to see it, we loved every minute of it and got real excited for TS3. We both agreed that if TS3 is as good as the trailers look and what not, then we are going to see it at the IMAX 3D then when it’s over, we are going to stay for a second show.

I know TS3 will hit me pretty hard since Andy’s going to college and by then I should be out of college. So, I already know that I will have a big connection with the movie to start off with.

When it comes to my own toys, I don’t have them on me. I know my mom keeps alot of things that my sister and I have ever had. From our baby shoes to our first toys, so I know they are with her, possibly in a box in the attic. (Ironically enough.) I’m starting to miss my Bugs Bunny toy again. XD
