Hey you guys, remember how Steve Jobs (who founded Apple along with Steve Wozniak, but I bet you guys already knew that) bought Pixar from LucasArts some time ago? I wonder if these two scenes might be a “thanks” from the guys at Pixar to Steve Jobs:
The Keyboards inside of The Incredibles
The approx. 24" Intel-based iMac that Woody was on in the first Toy Story 3 trailer:
Now I know for a fact that the iMac in the TS3 trailer is running a copy of Mac OS X (10.5 or 10.6. Either one.) and that the keyboard is just a standard Apple keyboard. The keyboard inside of The Incredibles isn’t an Apple keyboard, but it does have the Apple logo on it.
Wow. That is weird…I love how you notice little things that most people miss! You’re very perceptive. And yes, I think they likely did that on purpose; that probably wouldn’t happen by chance.
It’s no surprise that Pixar honors the Apple man himself, especially with his role as CEO. Pixar’s connection to Apple is so unknown to non Pixar fans, but it is so very exciting! After all, Eve was designed with Appl’es help. That is cool.
I never noticed the keyboard, but I definitely smiled at the Mac desktop in TS3 the first time I saw it. I would bet these are for sure intentional conscious decisions to throw in nods to Apple. And I love it x]
There’s also the iPod used by WALL-E to watch “Hello Dolly”, and of course the Mac startup sound that you hear when WALL-E is fully recharged.
And if I remember correctly, in one scene near the end of Ratatouille there is a character who looks a bit like Steve Jobs.
It seems a lot of TV shows like to feature either Apple products or simply use generic PCs. I can’t remember seeing Windows ever on display. After all, It is rather a common stereotype that that artsy types use Apple computers.
Companies have to ask other companies to use there stuff or it’s copyright, Nick is to lazy or don’t get permision. If you notice most childrens shows do this while family and grown up shows use real products.
They’re likely paid or offered free products to feature on the show. Product placement is becoming a big thing since people are skipping commercials via Tivo and online streams.
Good noticing! That would make sense, seeing as how Steve Jobs is CEO. And lets not forget the #84 Apple car that races during the opening race in Cars
This one is a little obscure, but WALL-E and EVE play Pong on an old Atari! Steve Jobs worked for Atari for a while, and there’s some funny stories about what he did there.
It doesn’t stick out as much, but I think it qualifies.
