A Possible Contest???

Yeah, I’m agree with TDIT, ffdude1906. Never give up in whatever you do.

I have the storyline for my music vid. I have the capability to do so. I have the materials and stuff.

The problem is:

  1. My WMM sucks. My laptop will hang for a long period of time if I press whatever
    button on it.

  2. I have Sony Vegas, but the trial period was over. I once have the full version,
but the disc was badly scratched.

  3. iMovie. Period. I do not own Mac. It costs a hefty sum of money to buy one here.
The cheapest one costs MYR3000+ ($1000+ I guess).

Conclusion: I am a pathetic human.

I’m planning to upload a video already made. Thus, I need to ask: when will the theme(s) be revealed?

You are allowed to use videos you have previously uploaded. But the theme will be revealed at the end of August.

Maybe. I’m a beginner to the video process. So I dunno.

One other question, which should not be redundant within the thread: without giving it away, what exactly do you mean by “theme?” A specific movie? A certain storyline within the video? The reason I’m asking is because I REALLY want to show my video (yes, I’M keeping a surprise as well  ).

I’m not sure if I can explain the theme of this contest withougt giving anything away. Any and all Pixar movies can be used. And it is up to the user if he/she wants a storyline or not.

Thanks. That might be all I’ll need to know.

You’re welcome. I’ll look forward for your participation.

Just read your announcement, TSS, including what the theme is. Apparently I may not need to do ANY changes relating to the theme, as the movie my video is based on happens to be “Monsters, Inc.”!

I might take a stab at this, I have a pretty good idea for a Wall•E music video. I may ask for some advice or help at some point about it, but I think it should turn out well.

ffdude: That is totally fine if you need help. I would suggest myself of TDIT for guidence on making an amazing fan video.

Yeah, I’m hoping to hit you up on skype whenever I get around to working on it. I can’t for a while, homework and all, but I should be able to throw something together before the deadline. TDIT isn’t as readily available, but I’d love to get some help from him as well, I love his vids.

I understand. I also know that since school has started, people will be very busy to make an MV in just one month. that is why i am giving people 2 months.

Thanks for the mention TSS, I’m truly honoured! But to ‘return the favour’, I’d like to recommend others to ask him questions too! :stuck_out_tongue: Muahaha, TSS!

ffdude, I may not go on Skype that often as I’m caught in the ‘homework rush’ too, but feel free to consult me if you have any problems through PM. Or just post in this thread, I’m sure there are other equally-talented video-makers who’d be able to help you.

Hey TSS, I read your dilemma in the ‘Current Moods’ board. Mayhaps a Time Crisis announcer voice Time Extension is in order? I’m busy with assignments, but I’ve got a totally awesome idea for a Halloween MV, but yeah, more time would be great. I should be in the clear 23rd October-ish. Not to mention, response has not been great… although that can be solved if I publicise the contest through my sig at a later date.

Perhaps till the end of October (Halloween itself) should be fine? I dunno, just a suggestion, you’re the last word anyway. Maybe wait to see if response improves before considering…

Well, my plan was to have people vote for the finalists and then the last round of voting will decide the winner. However, we only got two videos so I might end up extending the date. We might end the contest on the 23rd, and voting would continue until Halloween. But I’ll think about it.

On a side note TDIT, I finished my MV, now I am editing the audio. I am doing a mix of a recut (my first recut ever) and a music video. But that’s all I’m going to say.

I’d only be free to start after the 23rd, so I may not be able to make it. Well, you’re the organiser after all, so I can’t force you to postpone, but two entries is not much of a contest to begin with… We’ll see how this turns out, I think this contest needs more publicity as not many people seem to be aware of it judging by the responses. :frowning:

Well, seeing that I only have two participants, I guess I would have to extend the dates. The reason why I wanted the contest to end near halloween is so that the winner’s video can be chosen on Halloween. You know what I mean? But I guess I’ll extend it a little bit. I’ll think about and repost a schedule sometime this week.

TDIT: I’m creating a scedule right now. but you said you are open after the 23rd. how long would it take for you to finish a video? (Be honest please  )

Well, I’ll be frank with you, TSS. The date of assessment of final projects is on Friday, the 23rd of October. But the date of submission for screening is on the 1st of November, the first Sunday. So my group members may choose to do final touch-ups for the screening (it’ll be shown at our local arthouse cinema) one more week after it has already been marked.

So yeah, I’m hoping we can just get it done and over with on the 23rd, but whether they choose to continue or not is out of my hands. And if they do, it’ll be bad form if I choose to abandon them since we’ve already been graded.

I still say give me (and other members) till the end of October, since I usually take a week to a fortnight to compose an MV (I’m very meticulous, and I work at night when I’m least likely to be disturbed by my bro or friends). I understand you’re eager to release the results on Halloween itself, and I honestly don’t want to hold you back as I’d rather do a better job than rush it for the deadline (so I may be releasing it even after Halloween’s over).

Again, this depends on our group’s progress and how much we get done before the assessments, so I’ll keep you updated. If you want to maintain the original deadline, I’m okay with it too. As much as I love Pixar fandom, I’m afraid school comes first. But really, thanks for being so accommodating.
